The reason why Thatcher was so confused was because the police have yet to encounter a type three alternate.
The alternate was probably a type 5 though

Thatcher isn’t an alternate. He was confused by what Jude said because their world has only known/encountered two types of alternates. They normally take the place of someone you know, that being a friend or family. We’ve never known them to be summoned/created by children.

He got that from mistaking a glossy brim for Alternate eyes. This is a part two, after all.

I have a theory that Thatcher survived. However, the alternate saw his face and turned into him. Not soon after, the police station was taken over by the alternate.
And that is why police aren't allowed to help people during alternate attacks. If an alternate gets even a glimpse of an officer, the entire department is put at risk.

I wonder if we're gonna see a step up in protection though. Like, SWAT has masks the hide their faces, so I'd imagine the police would also get gear to help hide themselves if they figured out how the Alternates are getting into the police.

The "10-X" is called 10 codes.
10-0 = use caution
10-1 = signal weak
10-2 = signal good
10-3 = stop transmitting
10-4 = affirmative (ok)
10-17 = enroute
10-18 = urgent

I think 10-78 was the alternate calling in codes it didn’t know fully using thatchers voice, and it eventually said 10-18 so that it could call more officers to the station

Yea I hated the feet sound running towards thatcher then the alternate crawls around the corner I hated that I haven’t really every blocked my screen or be somewhat scarred but this video definitely had me doing it lol
I feel like the reason for that is because of how much was at stake and the effect it had on everything. For so long it’s been built up to this point and revealed for an excellent payoff.
Honestly I’m happy I watched this vid while being with my family, it basically took all the horror out of it

Your right. For some reason. Alternates in solid picture. instead of moving film. For some reason moving film just isn't scary. My guess is they can't move realistically enough. Which causes your mind to say to itself "Wait, stuff doesn't move like that" Or maybe the movement looks too familliar to other cartoony films. Like those old claymation christmas movies.
Honestly they kinda made me laugh.
I feel like Stanley saying “they’re just as scared as you” is just him saying that so when the Alternates are summoned, they are perceived as harmless and will be more likely to inflict MAD upon their victims.

to me it's scarier to think that he's saying that about the ones called to help (police, the ones supposed to protect you).. like there's no use in getting help from someone also deathly afraid, in short - everyone is just helpless

10-78 means ‘Assistance needed’ and 10-18 means ‘Quickly’ in police codes.
HOWEVER
1018 is also an angel number and is an ‘indication of the endings that are going to come soon’!

10-78 seems like it means ‘Needs Assistance’ while 10-18 means ‘urgent/priority’ but the ten-codes are fairly standard for police (and other) shorthand and other places that use radio to communicate
Ten-codes are fairly standard radio codes in general. HAM radio operators and companies who use radios use 10-18, 10-4, and 10-22 (negative) a lot
A 10-78 versus a 10-18 is equivalent of saying "What's up?" to a friend, and "Hello, how are you?" to a colleague at work. A "HEy can you help?" to a roomate versus "This is an official request for help." to a company or organization.
No 10 18 means equipment exchange

It really shows how good of an artist Kister is that, despite explicitly showing the alternates form in video instead of a still image, he still manages to portray the same terror and mystery that made the previous instalments so horrifying.
When a monster built on mystery and fear of the unknown is "revealed", oftentimes it can lose the very thing that made it scary in the first place. Congrats to Alex for keeping just enough suspense and intrigue to craft such a perfect "monster" (or whatever it may be).
The Alternate here moves and looks a lot like the one in "Maple County," actually! I'm even partially convinced he was inspired by Maple County's interpretation, seeing as it described its alternate moving like "a puppet on strings"

What's worse is that this isn't the only one. Since the one that attacked Mark looked like Ceaser with abnormally long appendages, and the One that attacked Thatcher is Adam's "imaginary friend."

Respectfully, I disagree. This 3D animation thingy just isnt as scary for me. The vagueness and unhuman nature of the previous versions (images) was the thing that made it scary for me. I just cant take that 3D, Gmod like muppet seriously.

something about jude saying “i think my wife is hurt” and then transitioning into the photos from the house where the woman was distraught about losing her infant… just absolutely horrifically beautiful storytelling.
A thing I just realized was that the when the alternate was floating towards thatcher, it was sort of in this crucifiction pose where its arms were straight out and its head was tilted to the side. Just a thing to point out for the religious aspect part of this series.

You actually got it right - they are called "Ten Codes." However, you'll find it a little bit difficult to pinpoint exactly what they're saying. Each law enforcement entity may have slightly different codes. And truckers also use ten codes, and they are usually slightly different than law enforcement codes, too. 10-4 generally means "received/confirmed." A 10-50 is a traffic accident. Then there's other ten codes for an officer checking in and out of duty, in and out for breaks, and each of those codes are different. There's codes for arriving on scene, taking a suspect into custody, various types of crimes (theft, burglary, etc). Your best best would be to look at the area that Mandela County is the real-world equivalent of and see what their local departments' ten codes are to see possible where the creator might be basing their codes off of. They often have them posted on their website so the public knows what they're talking about when they're listening to police scanners.
From what I’ve found it’s a really simple message. A 10-78 (his first code) is simply a request of backup. After sitting on dead air he begins to throw out that it’s a 10-18 “Urgent” situation

"Temporal" could also mean "earthly" or "material," but the fact that it is surrounded by a clock heavily implies that it is just related to time, or it's just a red herring

Kister did react to this on Twitch (the VOD is there), and he does seem to respond favourably to the idea of "temporal" in relation to the brain.

The kid is Adam from Vol 2. His last name matches with the divorced parents' last names. The eye also belongs to him. He was watching Stanley and he was the one who conjured up the intruder that later took him, causing his mother to hang herself. For some reason he was released with no memory of this, and started to search for his mother, that's why he became an "ghost buster" with Jonah.
I feel like he didn't watch it. The intruder who took Adam was the one with the face from the intruder alert (He asked Adam in vol 2 if he remembers him), and the alternate that we see in the vid doesn't look like him at all.

Adam has a sister, as we see in the picture. Adam didn't need to be taken, his sister did. We never get confirmation on how many children the Murray family has at the time of divorce. Only the fact that 1 is extremely young, as if they are a young girl or younger sister that hasn't learned to talk yet. With the mother hanging herself and the dad scared shitless, adam could've been put into an orphanage having been spared from whatever was happening as they already took 1 child and everyone else had higher priority.

The creature at the end said, "There's not enough room for the two of us." That's the same thing the message said in the THINK Principle video. Is it possible that the creatures had given false information about themselves? The THINK video also brings up using ranged weapons against them, and a lot of the people that have died have tried to shoot the alternates. 🤔
though, do take note that thatcher hasn't actually died. he was attacked, but he's still alive.

@@starmage_constellar I just watched it. Well, we know that these things are incredibly cruel, using religious faith and human fear against their victims and all that. They might use Thatcher's fear against him later, or they might have left him alive to send a sort of message or for its own sick amusement. Thatcher said that the creature turned into HIM before leaving.

29:29 My theory on Stanley is that he was talking to young Adam and since Stanley taught young Adam how to make a “friend” , Adam made an alternate and he wanted his mom to meet his “friend” and then alternate killed his mom and sister, or just one of them got killed
I personally feel like Stanley isn't talking to anyone in particular, because Mark, at a young age, had an experience with an intruder, implying that he would have also seen the Stanley video.

23:57 onwards I think is the revelation that the “caller” was actually an alternate, and the fact that Thatcher’s voice was repeated indicates strongly that the alternate became aware of his presence. Thankfully, we have the Vol. 4 available as of a while ago.
Idk if the phone call was the alternate. I agree its important to think about, but i think Jude was alive at the beginning of that call with Thatcher. Other suspected alternate phone calls are much more calm and matter of fact in their voice, notice with Jude his voice is speratic, scared, full of dread. Although that could be explained by the alternate just repeating what he had said before as it did later during the house visit, but notice that Jude stops answering after a while when Thatcher asks for the address. Although, I think the fact that Ruth got a "similar" (likely the same) call, works as a strong point in your favor. It could be that Jude was alive during the phone call with Ruth, who then dispatched to the scene. Then, the alternate kills him, and calls Thatcher, likely repeating the same lines Jude had already used. It's pretty tricky to figure out with evidence pointing both ways

One thing I want to point out, when the alternate descends to face off against Thatcher, he’s in the juxtaposition of Jesus when he got crucified. Very creepy.

@@prince_kitsuro but here’s the thing. In the latest video from Alex Kister, Thatcher *doesn’t* die, but instead talks about how everything and everyone he loves was taken away from him. And, with the “False Prophet/Gabriel/Virgin Mary alternate” saying that they know what others love and dread, I think they attached themselves to Davis.

I think that Adam was the baby that was taken and the girl they talk about him never getting back is his mom who is dead and Adam also seems to have a fascination and/or connection to the alternates probably from him being taken by one and the fact they could have made his mom un-alive herself.

Hey! First responder/ daughter of a police officer here! The numbers are indeed call codes! Problem is most departments have their own set of unique codes, so there's not really a standard definition. (At least not where I'm from) but if I can make an educated guess!
10-78 : either officer down, or some kind of situation issue
10-18 : no available officers in county, pretty common here sadly but he's most likely trying to reach the surrounding counties. Which is even more unsettling that no one is answering from there either.
Not a perfect answer but I hope it helped!
Edit : officer ID numbers don't get used often, but you can usually tell based on the way the number is used.
i.e. "officer 108" "this is 115 requesting ..." ect.
My theory: The intruder isn't an alternate, which is why Jude didn't recognize him. It would also make sense why Thatcher is confused by him not recognizing them bc the alternates disguise as someone you know (and called them to check it out instead of ignoring the call like they do with alternates). The intruder might be connected to the guy in the TV taking kids (bc Jude has a baby in the house with him). Dunno, just a thought 😁
Finished episode:
I have another thought, alternates may be actually frightened by being brought into this reality, but only go on the attack when we attack them. Or, they mimic our emotions. Thatcher doesn't get attacked when he's scared but once they become aggressive; so does the alternate.
Jude was the alternate, he said "I dont even know how it got outside" instead of inside

Secondly, is Mirror Matt okay?? He's been gone for a while, I think some of us, at least me, would like to know if he's okay or something else. If he's taking a vacation, cool! I hope he enjoys. Mirror Matt was disposed of after being confirmed an alternate.
Slowly but surely, mat pat has secretly been becoming more and more sane, starting to forget about his original alternate self he conjured up when staring into his own reflection for a long period of time, thus no more appearances of mirror mat.
From Stephanie’s Instagram, it looks like they’ll be out of the US (visiting England, I believe) for a total of two months. (I think they’ve been away for a few weeks now) Steph and Matt can still work while away, of course, but probably not film GT not lives. My assumption would be that they pre filmed a LOT, and maybe Matt had some scheduled time off during this prefimling?

I'm not gonna lie, sometimes my favorite part of these episodes is the Witty Banter and Wrap Up, especially since Ash joined! (though I kinda miss Mirror Matt as well). I looove the chaos energy, it quite often makes my day! Could we get a video that's 100% Banter someday? That would be amazing!

I don't think anyone has mentioned this yet, but when Thatcher is in the house talking to the alternate and no one could make out what it was saying, it's doing a playback of the call between Thatcher and Jude, you can barely make out it mimicking Jude saying "It's just standing there"
I think that there are either two options with the alternates : their could be lots of alternates and they all have a ‘hive mind’ sort of thing , as the alternate in this video had mark , cesar etc’s voices , or that there is only one alternate going round killing everyone.

idk, the middle segment could be that false angel thing, where a voice is telling us lies, while putting on a non-threatening face in order to gain our trust, so more alternates can be made
Thats what i think. I think its talking to children and trying to get children to "summon" alternates and by saying things like "friend" and "just as scared of you" can make it seem more approachable. When you ask a child to draw their imaginary friend its sometimes terrifying what they create and they dont realize it.

One thing I noticed that I haven’t seen anyone mention, tying into the alternates are not necessarily “evil”, when the alternate crouches down to Thacher it pulls its face up into a smile and then laughs. As if it understands this is what people do to be friendly, but kinda misses the context.
I mean, it just seems like another deception tactic. I don't think there is any doubt that alternates are evil, replacing an angel and killing folk doesn't seem anything but evil. The smiling and laughing is most likely the same method Mark's alternate used when trying to make him open the door. They learn what people like and how they act when they feel good and try to deceive you, thus they are lying about having a present for you while stuttering and smiling in a creepy way.

The baby that was taken was Adam from Vol2. His last name is Murray and Lynn and Jude are his parents, Lynn being the woman “distraught at the sight of her missing infant”. Adam being taken at such a young age could be why he’s shown to have almost no fear when going down into the basement and confronting the intruder, and the female he’s looking for could be his mother.

There's a lot of different police codes due to different states I'm guessing. But on Copradar it says a 10 78 means *Need Assistance* and 10 18 means *Urgent* or *Quickly*
It also depends on the state because in my state 10-78 means dangerous threat and 10-18 is need medical evacuation.

I think it's interesting that one of the named Patreon supporters in the credits is Remy Abode who is the person behind Gemini Home Entertainment. It might just be an instant of analog horror creators supporting each other but the fact that there are some similar ideas in the two series is interesting.

This was the first Mandela Catalogue episode to genuinely give me the creeps. I think analog horror is very interesting and neat but it doesn’t typically scare me. That alternate Thatcher met finally did the trick.

The detail of the kids voice changing from male to female throws you off, though. And there is, in fact, a girl in the church photo that we never hear from or see again. You would think that if she was, idk, Mark's sister, SOMEONE would have mentioned her.
Just because Wendigoon's theory makes sense doesn't mean he is absolutely right about everything all the time. And MatPat likes to develop his own theories to avoid parroting other people's scripts and taking views away from maybe smaller channels, so he does not like to see them until his own theories are done to avoid contaminating his thought process. You can see this happening with yourself in this very comment; you saw one theory that made sense and now your brain is trying to "correct" and "contest" other ways to interpret the story instead of being open to the multiple interpretations of a work of art.
Man, watching this after the Wendigoon video is so weird. Just seeing all the connections fly right over Matpat's head is astonishing.

I feel like we're seeing the harbinger alternate that was perhaps spoken of by the "angel" in the early episodes. We clearly saw the thing at the end of this episode hanging it's hands to the left and right of it's body like Jesus on the cross, which makes me think it itself is the what was coming. Everything until then was a harbinger. The man in the TV, the angel, the intruder.
I’m still interested as to what the alternates have with Mark.
Considering an alternate decided to specifically call Mark after killing his friend, and the fact Mark already encountered an alternate at a young age, I think this specific alternate (I think they’re called N by the fandom) seems to either have something against Mark or that intruder Mark encountered.
Perhaps he made Mark kill himself to mess with the intruder? We do see a TV was on next to Mark’s bed, was the intruder watching?
Or was Mark simply a universal threat, considering he wasn’t shown to be scared of the alternates (sure he felt angry, sad, and probably every other negative emotion under the sun, but even in his last moments he simply wanted this same scenario to not happen to others)?
Idk, but either way I hope we get to figure out the specifics on the link between him and the alternates. Just opening a conversation.
Alright imma try to explain and clear up some stuff.
1. That alternate that disguised itself as Cesar and went after Mark isnt N. N is another alternate that's a type 3 that's the alternate with a shadow cast over it's face. The one that we've seen from Vol 1 and Vol 333 is a type 2 seeing how it has special abilities that differentiate it from the rest. (Yes the Cesar Alternate is the alternate that went after Thatcher and is for now refered to as the Unnamed Alternate.)
2. Reasons why alternates are drawn towards Mark is because he is religious, which is a big no no if one wants to survive in the Mandela Universe since they worship Satan or the false Shepherd as he is referred to under the guise that it's Jesus and etc. That is the reason why Mark writes the whole who was I praying to and the my eyes are wide open thing cause the Unnamed Alternate revealed that the God Mark worshipped was Satan.
3. Pretty sure the Alternate isn't against the intruder seeing as in Vol 333 they are seen together in Adam's family's household, with the intruder being in the TV having stole Adam, while the Alternate either presumedly kills Jude then disguise himself as the man before calling Thatcher or kills Jude while Thatcher talks with Ruth in that brief moment Thatcher puts Jude on hold, leading Thatcher and Ruth going to investigate, Ruth getting KOed by the Alternate who chases Thatcher to the station, proceed to copy his appearance but leaves him alive.

@@kiera6326 No, the intruder isn't a alternate so he couldn't be the alternate that went after Thatcher in vol 333, plus we saw him leave through the TV when Ruth and Thatcher enter the house.
It's still unconfirmed if the Cesar alternate and the alternate from vol 333 is the same alternate though.

Something that I've remembered from some of the previous Mandela Catalogue videos is the emphasis on not revealing your fear because in this one that being that was in the TV said that the friend it created from your imagination is just as scared as you are.Maybe that's why The Alternates attack people in the first place.Because people are scared of them, they attack because fear causes them to do so.It could also be why religion is a way for Alternates to invade homes because people believe and pray to God because they are mostly likely afraid.They look towards God as way of expressing a need for comfort and safety, but it also expresses that they're afraid and because of that The Alternates go on the attack.

Shadow people and other paranormal entities like it that people have stories and legends about here tend to reflect what you think they'll do generally tied to fear. Though I think the voice telling you to make a new friend is referring to tulpas which were a different category to alternates earlier in the series. Tulpas are something that people do here. Essentially forming a new personality and entity using thoughts and meditation. Overtime your supposed to be able to hear and even see them. Thus the new friend being in your house.

I believe that the audio that MatPat has trouble making out is the phone call between Thatcher and Jude earlier in the episode. The alternate is likely just repeating Jude’s dialogue from the call, but extremely distorted. I could be wrong though ☝🏾.

I think the stiff, unrealistic movements was intentional. The alternates are supposed to be fairly bad at human movement, which makes their movements look unnatural and awkward.

my thoughts regarding the false Shepard:
1. he is the Devil, as the false Shepard is normally equated to.
2. he is the string face. instructing people on how to call "alternates" to this world.
3. the alternates are the devils legions, the untold truth that is being told to people that kill themselves is that we have been living in hell and the incursion of the devils armies into the world is happening.
4. the intruder is Jesus, jumping in and out of heaven to save the truly innocent (Kids) and bring them to eternal life before they are subject to the horrors of the mortal world.
5. the Mandela catalogue is a catalogue of events leading up to and during the incursion of the devils forces into the mortal world.
6. the Mandela catalogue is a telling of the events listed in the rapture. with creative license taken and showing the devil consuming the world while the truly innocent and believers are brought to heaven.

I like the theory about Jesus being the intruder although I believe that it may be false just due to the disturbing imagery of the intruder, I dont think Jesus plays around with corpses and stands in peoples corners because we know the intruder did those two things, along with this the intruder comes through devices and has even caused people to commit, well uhh sauce of the side.
@@Th3DiamondKing The TV intruder and Mark Heathcliff's intruder are as far as we know two different beings. Not only do they look very distinctly different but they operate differently. TV intruder is clearly on the side of the alternates, showing activity in being involved in the disappearances of the children while Mark's intruder just kinda... stands there. We don't know what he does, iirc we haven't seen him being "active" so he could very well be the husk of Jesus until we get more info.

Jesus is known in the bible to be the perfect image of a human and I don't think causing someone to commit Sauce of the side is a very perfect or holy thing. And if your talking about Marks intruder being Jesus then It simply doesn't explain why Jesus would be chilling in a corner along with frightening a man, and later we can tell that something has happened to that man as he is not heard from again, also I believe that's actually Jude's intruder your talking about unless im missunderstood. We also havent been really introduced to the concept of more than one intruders. There's a possibility that the "mark intruder your talking about" could be the alternate as Jude says that it has "a face like no one he has ever seen before" and we can assume that id there were another intruder it would look identical to the first intruder and the first intruder looks like your average joe (mama, sorry) So it's a very large spaghetti pile of identifying obscure characters but you could definitely be correct.
