I won this game in a bet playing pokemon. A kid put it up for stake. When me and my bro played it for the first time, we thought it was ground breaking, never played a game like this before. This was like what Assassins Creed most likely got some influence from and it's first of its kind. Tenchu 2 is still my favorite alltime and deserves a remake. I'm sad we don't have modern Tenchu games in 2023.

It's as GREAT as we remember.
Nothing like it before, during or after.
And just because Tenchu is a stealth game doesn't mean it was inspired by MG. It wasn't.

The soundtrack of the Tenchu series never left me. The same composer also did the OST for Way of the Samurai (PS2) and Rurouni Kenshin.

Fundamentally my most memorable ninja, style game! Thank you for not allowing it to die! I've been thinking about this more and more with the upcoming Rise of the Ronan game (which I'll be playing because I'm a simp for stealthy games).

I really enjoy your videos! They're informative and funny. Great editing.
I think that Tenchu: Stealth Assassin's is one of the greatest games of its era. While most of my classmates were obsessed with Ocarina of Time, I was obsessed with Tenchu. The only thing that kept me from giving Tenchu a perfect score was the lack of dragging/hiding bodies; which Tenchu 2 fixed.

haha thanks mate, all great games you mentioned there! back in a time when everything made sense, i completely agree! tenchu was great, but my only problem with it was the stiff controls, at the time it didn't support anolog stick, all a great games but i loved tenchu wrath of heaven the best

@@mycardboardbox You're welcome, and thank You for making great videos!
I definitely feel its stiff controls these days, but I didn't know any better at the time. I actually loved the controls back in the day.
Wrath of Heaven was great. Wish you could control looking up and down without having to hold in a button though.

Tenchu and Sekiro had a fun grappling hook, but they were very different. Would have been great to cycle back and forth at will between the slower, manual and the faster, automatic grappling hook systems.

I really hope we get a remake now that Microsoft own the rights to Tenchu 1.

I love it a great deal, but I struggle going with anything below the 3rd game. The controls just reach acceptable at that point, and you don't have the annoying ps1 dark shadow fog wall that allow you to be seen and caught before you even can see the person that somehow sees you. I have tried to go back, even on emulators, but it unfortunately feels like it is heavily held back by the ps1 technical limitations... Wish it was remastered onto pc with proper better controls and more distant fog at least. Still fun, but it requires you to put up with pretty annoying stuff by modern standards. Oh, also. I have found that it also has some weird slow down moments. Literally the hardware it was built on is it's greatest enemy, it is before its time.

There can never be that Tenchu again.
Because there is no desire to please the user, giving him a game with high longevity.
A game to play and replay for the pure pleasure of being played.
That same stupendous music never properly reused again, those furtive killings not marked by useless sensationalistic freeze-frames, those dense splashes of blood, that darkness on the horizon that created an atmosphere of perpetual danger, the variety of those enemies equipped with weapons from extremely refined design, those bosses ...
They would do better to take the original as it is and just remodel the graphics, adding at most a few playable characters (like Tesshu and Onikage) and a few levels.
They would be on the safe side and would make millions of users happy.
