@@turtleslam4185 thats why they say on the package to keep away from flamable substances or surfaces that may be damaged by high heat. You are supposed to insulate them or mount them to metal.

At least the dude in the black triumph noticed the smoke and immediately took off and got out of potential harms way and got the fire taken care of. That’s what we all should be doing as we ride or even when we drive our cars, because if you can catch it like this dude did then you potentially are saving the vehicle from going up in total flames
The black triumph was not on fire though... it was just the battery.

@@holdencross5904 It's a lack of intelligence and basic common sense. If you've not been trained to use a fire extinguisher, would you not think to read the BOLD instructions, with pictures, on the side of the bottle? It literally explains how to unlock and operate it, and spray at the base of the fire.
There is no reason to blur it out
After watching this with nearly 30mins on bikes catching fire, a fire extinguisher has officially made it to be on my top 5 list to have mounted on my bike. Anytime any where it can happen

You never blow on a flame unless you want a bigger flame. Air getting to a flame only makes it bigger. You need to try to stop the air, if fire can't get air it goes out.
Air can put out a fire though. Just they would need a lot more air
oxygen is what makes the fire bigger, the fire burns oxygen
No oxygen = no fire
19:10 - No question, bad wiring on the fender eliminator is what caused the fire. Could have been a short or an LED capacitor, but that bike probably has an LED relay.
I noticed a lot of burnng bikes this year and DBL makes a compilation. Nice!

Just so everyone knows fire extinguishers are 1 time use, NO MATTER HOW MUCH YOU USE!! They have to be refilled and serviced to make sure they can be used in an emergency.

This is why I carry a Fire Extinguisher on me when I ride with my friends. It's not the big ones that restaurants or Fast-food places have. But its a nice medium size one that I can manage to fit in my book bag and I can strap another one on the seat behind me. So in case anything happens one of my friends can just yank it off and use it. I will admit they have jokingly teased me and made fun of me because I looked ridiculous. But I don't care. When all is said and done that's hundred times closer to being prepared in case ANYTHING happens!!

Just don't temper with wiring and keep the bike clean, make sure you have no leaks anywhere and do not try to be a mechanic if you don't know what you are doing. You should be fine. Been riding for 36 years now and never had ANY issues whatsoever.

Always cracks me up when people try to blow on fire to put it out. These guys should probably carry at least a small canister of extinguisher. Seems like heat can be a real issue with certain bikes and riding. Also, how do people not realize heat equals fire.

This has happened with me also. I had a bag on the side. Somehow it changed its position to be in front of exhaust. And it caught fire.

Remember kids when riding a motorcycle, snowmobile, ATV'S, mopeds, and dirt bikes ALWAYS have a fire extinguisher on board despite it not being cosmetically pleasing your life has more value then a machine

The guy that borrowed the fire extinguisher from the burger joint was in error about it when he returned it. It may have still had some powder left but it was far from usable for the next fire. He should have left his ID and contact info with the store manager with instructions to have the extinguisher recharged and tested and at he be contacted so he could pay the bill. Any other way and he would be screwing the people that helped him!!
The guy on the Triumph just killed his bike by saving it. That powder is cancer on anything electrical or not painted. Still, he did the right thing in a way.
If its cleaned right away to get fixed will it still start to corrode faster than normal?

I think a 1 kg fire extinguisher would fit on every motorcycle.
If your bike starts to smoke. Don't drop it, just stand it up, you might spill the gasoline. Don't put water on it, It would just mix up and create even more fire. Use a wet towel cover it to suffocate the flame or use sand.
