Pippa: "People are evil and when you lower your guard they'll sell you to a Dominican slave trade!"
Also Pippa: "Nap time on the stranger couch."
The duality of women
Yeah, I thought this story was gonna go a lot worse when she brought sleeping on some persons couch.
But she had a nap buddy
Most of the time d&d grps are decent folks. Still, it's good to be alert with stranger danger.
ikr??? D:
Autist joins D&D group.
Listens to earbuds and refuses to socialize.
Sleeps on your couch.
Leaves.
Refuses to elaborate.
You should add.
Calls you a tourist
but she did elaborate
That’s our Pippa
I still don't quite understand what the issue was. I'm definitely chalking it up to moldy autist being a moldy autist.
Stubby bunny would be very welcome at my table.. I would say couch, but I don't have a couch. Also, if you gotta sleep, sleep and yeah, agreed... playing with themes of race or culture or game world politics is just fine... but kindly leave the real world at the door. I am usually playing games to escape that.
I feel so bad for Pippa. The few times she actually tries to go outside her comfort zone, she's always reminded why its awful out there.
I mean it's not even that bad, it's a pretty low-key encounter really. Run-of-the-mill social stuff. It's ANNOYING, right, but I don't think she's letting it get her down.
It takes time for people with different personalities, from different social backgrounds, and with different mutual expectations, to synch up with eachother to share regular D&D meetings. Certainly not everyone makes it happen, but it takes some patience and persistence, and the will to get to know people, forgive, and get past their flaws.
What am I saying? How is D&D not dead and gone? Normal people don't have these virtues anymore!! D=
@@EbenezerEibenhardt Normal people never played D&D to begin with, though from what I gather, Wizards of the Coast is doing their absolute best to court that audience these days.
@@cookechris28I don't think it should be 'run of the mill' when every time you have another girl in the group who isn't like Pippa who actually has a spine and comedic tendencies there is a high chance that she will be the one btching about sht that doesn't even better.
Whats to feel bad for? She messed up, got offended and decided to leave.
Pippa: Why didn't they wake me up, they could have just woken me up
Also pippa, from the couch: /pol/ tourist!
she is so silly and funny
and now i remember the facemask eating part, i was probably asleep before that part
She shouts things like that in her sleep.
Pippa's growth, full on character development every few streams is so inspiring to see.
Pippa making herself at home in their house, earbuds to tell people not to talk to her, takes a nap, then leaves.
Random normie: haha 4chan am I right.
Pippa: Do not cite the Deep Magic to me, Witch! I was there when it was written.
dat gave me flashbacks
pippa trying not to show her power level in public challenge impossible
It's just way too high to contain all of it
This is probably the best way this series could have ended honestly
When I hear words - "racist" and "paladin" - I think of Pelinal Whitestrake. The Elf Slayer, Pointy Ear Cutter, The Elfinator.
Pippa should have suggested they make their paladin like Pelinal Whitestrake. Would have made the girl's head explode.
Song ends of the knight called Pelinal
The moment they use "buzz" words or politics are on the table. It's the biggest red flag and just leave
He only backpedalled because she was a girl and in his circles that's a big no no. I'd honestly drop them the moment I hear the gf of the dm use buzzwords.
The whole sleeping on a stranger's couch really scared me. I thought the story was going to be WAY worse. Hopefully she finds a better DnD group, and maybe hangs out with her napping friend sometime.
Pippa should have gone full over the top. Use a Pure Blood Elf to gas all the goblins LOL.
I feel like sensible people would wake her up and when sufficiently awake ask her if she wants to play or sleep .... you don't just leave her out sleeping ...
It was an awkward situation. And if you bother to wake them up why ask do they want to let them keep sleeping? That's not sensible for aggressive. That would be embarrassing. You either let them sleep without waking them up, or wake them up to play the game.
@@cww2490 Love pippa, long time watcher but she was in the wrong for this lol, and thats okay! Most good or bad DM's put in a LOT of work for people that literally don't have to put in any work, all DM's require is attentiveness (you can even get away with showing no care/attention, it can be part of your character lol), thats all xD
I'm with the guy who said "If they didn't laugh, they really aren't channers", and I'm an actual tourist, I've barely visited the place like 6 times in my life, but you can easily understand the culture if you actually try.
The big thing with ttrpgs is definitely finding a group that fits your playstyle
No dnd > bad dnd
"I called the DM's girlfriend a tourist. I wonder what went wrong"
common rule for MOST tables is usually keep reality outside of the game.
Good luck to Pippa, hope her and the other napper can enjoy the bunnies
in b4 the napper tries to rizz her by munching her hoodie cords like that other girl in the past xD
She didn’t want to stay there for other reasons and this was just the straw that broke the camel’s back. $40 in gas and being around a bunch of normies - can’t really blame her.
Yea tbh I think the final incident really wasn't bad at all, but it's probably the cleanest opportunity to leave the group without making it too weird or confrontational lol
did she drive to another state for her dnd session?
Woke normies to make it worse lmao , she actually stay for too long
@@randompecans yeah if pippa showed more of her power level trouble was bound to arise
Bizarre D&D experience. You can't tell people it's alright to go take a nap, and then be upsetti spaghetti when they're not attentive to your game. People have lives, they have fatigue, maybe they pass out for ten minutes or maybe it's 3 hours. I just went for a nap after a double shift, it was 7PM when I laid down. I'm up at 1AM, this is not what I wanted.
I hate this kind of callout in general, and people do it in the work place too and it especially pisses me off there because the problem person will 100% behave like it's not them doing it, and the problem never resolves. If there is an issue, always go direct to the source, always address the person directly by name; publicly or privately, I don't care. Just have some balls and confront the problem, or the problem will just weasel away and hide.
In regards to the Alt-Right Parody Paladin, at first I thought I could tell the group that my character is a Ctrl-Left parody character… but then I thought, what if my character became her character’s best friend and was even more extreme to make her uncomfortable?
hahaha
Hope she finds a better group that loves her almost as much as we do
I did make a crazy conspiracy theorist blood hunter, going on about how shapeshifters are trying to infltrate society so they can let dragons break into waterdeep.
This wasnt all about him, he was played as a skilled and talented fool and it was in good fun. He did a stunt out of a floating hotel window shouting "im not crazy, youll never take me alive!" And ended up surfing on a PC lizardfolk's back shortly after.
Also, his conspiracy theories... i was 100% right by dumb luck, according to the DM. Just the Saalds and white dragon werent working together. It was just a coincidence, and the dragon ate the Saald leader after we beat them. (A leader whom my pc refused to believe she was the old grandma who was secretly manipulating the party. I kept having him demand the leader return "GRANDMA!" To the point it focused exclusively on me shouting how "I was grandma the whole time you idiot!". The table's sides were in orbit and I successfully tanked a Saald.)
I do think one of the core things is if you try to parody something you dislike it will usually come out mean spirited. (And in my case, many conspiracies turn out to be the truth 6 months ahead of schedule)
6:23 That's basically who WoTC writes D&D for: Starbucks Marxists in Seattle.
There is a official module that has you playing as starbucks baristas.
@@CastitalusBRUH no way i read about the prom settings but that 😬
Yea it seems Pippa made the right choice to leave the group. She'll fine another group eventually, and hope its better people. I do feel the DM's comments had his ego in it, that is why he backtracked not wanting to look like an asshole to others. Still looking forward to Pippa getting some other "murder hobo's" as Pippa put it from Phase into a D&D group.
It's like having an elephant in the room, except there are at least three, and they don't wanna be outed
'ate orcs.
'ate elves.
'ate shitty alt-right paladin rp
simple as
I stopped playing DnD cos my DM stopped DMing due to getting a gf, he also had issues with how we played (said we were murder hobos, we weren't, gave us powerful weapons and got annoyed when the wrong person got them or when they were too powerful but felt like he couldn't take it off us) and instead of adapting to it he semi-rage quit.
I do agree with the "don't make the setting modern" when I world build i make the setting based on medieval sensibilities.
Sounds like the alt-right paladin couldn't commit to the bit.
This may be a controversial opinion, but I feel that DMs with Girlfriends are 7/10 times assholes. Sometimes not even because the girlfriend is awful.
An old friend of mine who had a girlfriend now his wife was really chill. She played with us and just wanted to play D&D because she actually liked it. Those were different times.
Happy to say our dm and his gf are awesome folk 👍
my DM stopped doing DnD cos he got a gf lmao
Well if they're dumb enough to bring a girlfriend to the dnd game
You have to be married or just friends to play dnd together
anyone who tries to bring their gf to a group is immediately an asshole in my book
Oddly enough, another Vtuber a few years back had similar experience. She played DnD with a bunch of unironic Redditors and couldn't get into it.
Hell nah...now i wanna know about it that sounds hilarious.
There's so many times I see this type of thing happen and wish I could just run a game for people. Then I remember that being a fan of any type of vtuber pretty much means that you'll never interact with them for their fear/concern of parasocialism. Sadge. Why do I have these 13 years of GM experience if not to share it with those in need!
They be talking sheet bout 4chin?
Ahh hell NAHH!
Imma call them out from across the room!
I'm going to session zero for a Pathfinder campaign with a friend group this evening; haven't done tabletop in years and first time for this setting. One of the participants is an ex-best friend I had a falling out with because he made every conversation political and belittled me for having opposing views. Wish me luck fellow Capippalists.
Update: Turned out it went well enough. The ex-friend was too busy with work to show up and the others came to their own conclusion he'd be a constant pain in the ass if he actually played with us and most likely flake anyway, so he won't be participating. I have made a Fetchling Inquisitor, who'll be going around and spreading salvation through a deity that's basically Mothman, thought it'd make for interesting interactions. Thank you guys for the negative support in the comments, never change, Pippa bless.
You're playing Pathfinder, you're doomed form the start
It’s joever

Screw the haters friend. Pathfinder is great, just too complicated for some compared to 5e. I hope you have a great time!

The worst situation would be someone making their strawman character that they want people to take seriously and then find out that nobody does, or worse still, agrees with them.
Like I'm imagining the alt-right paladin strawman in the Warhammer Fantasy universe, only for the entire party to agree that elves do in fact suck and should be kicked out of the empire.
I wish more people felt that way about D&D.
Sadly I feel that most of the modern audience D&D has acquired are all super liberal individuals that literally want to create their lefty utopian world settings and make all the villains act like caricatures of people with conservative beliefs.
Racism has been a staple of fantasy media from the get go and you see it a lot in cases of elves and dwarves hating each other, dwarves and goblins hating each other, elves acting smug and superior to humans and looking down on them, etc etc. They're barely other races at all, it's really more of cultural differences between these various groups because of how they live and see themselves and see each other. But so many people want to remove all that from modern D&D. They want every single race to live in loving harmony with each other, even the ORCS.
Orcs have always been big, dumb brutes of limited intelligence. Sort of min-maxed barbarians. But now people are so afraid of being labeled a racist, they want to bring out loads of peaceful orcs, loads of cultured orcs, loads of highly intelligent orcs, etc etc. They want to have mixed races like dwarf + elf just to make a big political point about it.
They don't want any conflict to ever be derived from racial or cultural reasons, so they can all pretend everyone can live peacefully together in the world regardless of what they believe. In my opinion, it fundamentally fucks up D&D play because while exploring morality and such can be fun to do now and then, most of the time you just want your good guys fighting your bad guys and not worry about the moral implications and consequences of killing a thousand orcs or goblins. But when you try to paint them all as "good guys" and "decent people just trying to get by" or whatever, it throws this very dark tone over everything you do, especially when they're actively avoiding using orcs or goblins as enemies because they dont want to be labeled a racist, so they start using humans as their primary villain (almost invariably white humans as villains too, funny how that works aint it) and they dont even try to humanize them despite them being the only literal humans in the story and paint them to be objectively evil.
Back in the day, it was hard to find a good group to play with because so few people played the game. Now TONS of people play the game, but the overwhelming majority of them want to play it in really bizarre ways that cater to their liberal political beliefs or living out their furry fantasies or other really weird things. So despite D&D being more popular than ever before, it is harder than ever to find a decent group that just wants to play in a reasonable sort of setting like the classical ones.
Now if you make a half orc barbarian character with low intelligence, everyone at the table squirms in their chairs being uncomfortable about it because the masses of liberals who never even played D&D like to equate orcs to black people for some reason and has conditioned all these new liberal players to think such a character is inherently racist. Absolute madness. And the fact they had to remove racial modifiers where some races are smarter or faster or stronger or more durable, etc is absolutely bonkers too.
Playing D&D with most D&D parties these days is becoming closer an closer to simply being reading hot takes from trending topics on twitter. And who the fuck WANTS that when the whole point of D&D is to escape all that bullshit and just have some fun?
All the REAL nerds have either moved on to 40k, Gunpla or LARPing. D&D is lost except in very niche circles, for the most part, it's been a causality of the Big Bang Theory/Redditization of pop culture.
And like most "anti-racists", they are actually the most racist of all, see how wizards of the coast are removing mixed races "in the name of diversity"
Jesse what the fuck are you talking about.
It's just inescapable at this point, even at fucking work people are talking about politics. If I'd rather be working than listening to you talk, you need to reconsider the shit you say.
Maybe if you only find games in America AND only play 5E. Pathfinder is far superior and has dodged much of the woke crowd.
8:02 What people think Alex Jones is
8:14 What Alex Jones actually is
Well if two people fell asleep, maybe the group chat seemed appropriate.
If she did stay then it would end up being a horror story. I kind of thought racist paladin would have been a problem player eventually but seems like DM is also a problem.
I feel that frustration. Finding a good group is tough.
>PIPPA
TOURIST
>FUCKING BASED LOL
That is unfortunate. She'll get used to people in time, but she should start a DnD group already with the girls to find if her play style matches theirs. There's nothing reading a bunch of articles can do that'd prepare her for DMing as DMing itself will. Sometimes each person's style just doesn't match the other.
shouldn't this be last straw? last call is like when a business is taking last order of the day or a deadline hits, last straw is like when one little issue is too far after a series of things.
Maybe it means 'call' as in 'visit'. So this was Pippa's last visit to the group.
You have to realize when 2 people in a group are in a relationship and 1 of rhem even has any type of authority like being a dm, its them vs everyone by default, maybe err tourist comment did piss her off but that means she pissed them both off by default. My advice if you join another one that couples are an automatic red flag.
Super proud of Pippa that she removed herself from a toxic situation. I love character growth in my oshi.
So proud of Pippa for having the confidence to remove herself from a toxic situation!
It would be nice if she could get some of the other Phase girls into like the Majong thing.
If Pippa wants a good DM, she can always contact Ster. Really cool guy, runs his own games virtually and within his own system. Though she probably wouldn't get in any game soon. But regardless.
Keep thinking about this, if I wanted to sleep I would have stayed home.
Wouldn't have said anything and just taped a sign to the couch saying pippas bed. Lol
Pippa would probably enjoy Nechronica. Genuinely great combat system, too.
pippa women moment
I’m too impatient for DnD getting thru one session takes hours and you might not even finish the one quest (granted the DMs I worked with were bad, they admitted it). The whole time I’m thinking, “I could have finished Skyrim by now.”
On top of that, I felt the exact same way Pippa did in social situations like that. It’s cathartic for me to hear her stories and opinions. I have very similar (if not the same) opinions as Pippa and sometimes my OCD (actual ocd not “I’m so ocd I need to ____.”) makes me think I’m just weird or something. I do wish I was as chill about certain things like Pippa is, again my ocd makes me tense and overthink things repetitively.
I have that same social anxiety, like a lot of other people, but she doesn’t obsessively rethink things later. She doesn’t drive herself crazy, make herself sad and exhausted. Or maybe she does feel that way but doesn’t show it.
It’s really nice that she’s open about her opinions and even feelings. Too many people put up a strong persona online. Not necessarily “fake” but not as open as Pippa is. And it’s really worked in her favor because it makes her more relatable and interesting.
You always know when the complaint is that someone got political, it wasn't a right-winger being the troublemaker.
I also think it's way less likely for this to happen on the other side.
I never heard of someone making a "leftist caricature" DnD character before atleast.

If you want to play a racist character in DND, do a Ranger with the preferred enemy subclass stuff.

The saga concludes
Well that was fast
my genocidal aryan paladin is a self insert
As someone who has run/played dnd for a long time, I know that feeling. I have been asked to leave a game before, and I have asked someone else to leave a game before, and I have had to leave a game myself too. It is never easy, but I believe that in this modern era where there are so many options to play whatever kind of game you want with whatever group you want, people should feel free to leave if something isn't working. It is supposed to be fun, not work. I don't always agree with Pippa, but I respect her, and I hope she finds a game to enjoy.
if it was every single time then i can see how the dm and group would get annoyed but one time and they publicly berate her? even when the rest of the party was ok and wanted to let her sleep? life happens and will get in the way, that shouldnt be held against you
sucks that pippa felt that way but maybe she can find another group
it took me 3 tries to find my current group that i have played with for a year through roll20 online
Couples in DND usually a red flag
shouldn't the DM be happy that she loves DnD so much she showed up even when sleepy
Imagine bringing your gf to game time. Best way to kill the vibe.

Alt right paladin is funny.
Perfectly handled
Should have just called them Cancer, that would have been appropriate.
In world politics are amazing, forcing irl ones onto a character is strange
Foremost, good on Pippa for leaving something she didn't feel welcome in. You should feel safe and welcome in what you do for leisure, so don't feel pressured to stay if it's gonna make you unhappy.
That being said, depending on what other decisions they made about the character, playing an overtly racist and bigoted High Elf Paladin is pretty on theme. I totally get trying to avoid politics in your off time, but it's not like those caricatures don't exist in the DnD world already and IMO it makes sense to draw from real-world examples for inspiration. Again, I'm not trying to defend it with the express purpose of making someone unwelcome, just that I think Pippa's departure was likely best for all parties.
So I had a buddy who would constantly make real world political jokes and then thinly veil them in world lore.
Every time he'd say some stupid shit I'd say "My your people have some weird culture." And then that would be his cue to cut the bit short.
I feel like Pippa and I am very similar here with D&D, except i guess the problem I have is my autism makes me a social reject anyway, so whose gonna care if this guy cant stay around for shit? Ah well, hopefully she'll be able to get in with a group, or start her own group with people she knows won't take shit seriously and that she can have a whale of a time.
The most political I got in a D&D game was my actor rogue especially hating an evil taxman and trying to get out of paying taxes

Do you know why she does that, Pippa?
It's because they all think like that. They all think it's okay to do that. They all, and I repeat ALL think that the personal is political. That means that it's okay to shove that stuff into everything.
The reason why you don't understand is because you don't have them mentality. You don't care. You got better things to do.
These types of people don't. They think that talking about politics that affects (when it clearly doesn't) and inserting it into media that's completely unrelated to them is how it's supposed to be done.
As Jordan Peterson said, people have replaced their individuality with this almost cult like thinking that looks like individualism at the surface, but it's really just using politics, especially identity politics, to make up for the fact that they have a "personality".
"Jordan Peterson said" xd
I mean bashing “nOrMiEs” for lack of individuality and self-thinking and then proceeding to quote friggin’ Jordan Peterson is the biggest “I am special and y’all ain’t” moment I’ve read in a while

I mean from their side it's kinda awkward too. They obviously weren't close friends or anything so her coming over & sleeping on the couch is pretty weird. IDK if I'd want to wake her up.
It feels like a big red flag for the Dm to have his girl in there, maybe that's just me
I had thought she said it was a 40 minute drive, or a 40 mile drive.
But it cost $40 in gas to drove that far...
How bad is gas prices in SE USA? That sounds like a long drive.
It sounds to me like a difference of political opinion is what drove them apart. Apparently the line is drawn at 'making alt-right caricatures', though as a DM I'd reframe that to suit the setting, so it's on him.
Woke people not wanting to wake pippa up :p. Jk politics need to stay the fk put of all forms of entertainment
My dnd character dislikes githyanki - thinking them as same as goblins!

I get it Pippa.
It sounds like each people, including this streamer, were a bunch of sociopaths trying to play dnd. No wonder the game night is ruined.
I haven’t had a good experience with IRL groups once. There was one I joined at my store and left because it got way too big, I got petrified on and off for multiple turns in a single combat and basically sat around for 4 hours cause there were like 8 people. Game was already kinda mid and I told them I was gonna be busy with work going forward and had to drop. Only to find out later that the piece of shit bard in that group decided that while I was gone and they decided to keep my character around that it would be funny to kill and cannibalize her, and someone thought it’d be a great idea to tell me this knowing I was not going to take it well. I never spoke to that motherfucker again, and apparently all of his friends hate him now so I feel like there is some karmic justice in the world.
9:27 Yeah, no he wasn't being a creep. Just look at the kind of people he surrounds himself with. He probably just thinks that treating everyone around him like they're incapable of handling anything is the 'moral' thing to do.
