This is part 1 of 3 on applying bark to a wire armature tree. It's a learning experience for me/us since this technique is still new to me.
I discuss problems I have along the way plus ideas on how it could have been improved.

Totally respect that you want to make the tree that you want to see not just a tree. I gave up in frustration! I probably shouldn't have.

I think I should have given up on the tree myself. **grin** Still, all along the process I learned many fixes for future trees. Lot's of mistakes, lot's of learnin'. And I would have missed some things if I didn't just keep slogging away on it.

Great tip on the press and seal wrap , looks like a sleepy hollow tree . The interesting part and i have no idea is putting leaves aka foliage on it ?

Glad you like the tip. Foliage will be coming up in the not too distant future.

Nice tree! The technique seems to be kind of meditative? ;-)

I'm wondering if 2 and a half hours of how to make a tree is the best direction for Terranscapes. You often make long cozy videos, which go very in depth on interesting topics. But is 150 minutes of tree building the best direction for it? This maybe a case of your video style clashing with the content, I've been a long time subscriber and watched most of your videos. But so much tree for.. well a tree?

I think it's great and appreciate the time and detail to build a tree of this magnitude. If you had ever made one then you would understand, some folks need every tiny detail before they can '"SEE"

Actually, I've thought about the tree videos and I agree with you. It reflects the 'too much time' I spent on the tree. They sort of go hand in hand since tree was crazy mistake filled project. Uuugh. :) I do hope that those videos help some who are afraid they don't know how to create and so never try. Learnin' from mistakes. (Plus it was an excellent learning experience for editing.)
However I've been looking at my current work on the charabanc engine and thinking about those videos. I've been working really hard to pare them down, still leave in a little quirk here or there, and shorten the video lengths. I think they show an improvement. (Feedback is always welcome!)
This style of shooting is still new to me and I'm getting my head around when to turn the cameras on and off, how to cut down the huge amount of footage and prevent redundancy. After you watch the first 2 or 3 of the upcoming charabanc videos I would love to hear what you think.
I'll chat more about this in a cocktails and comments as it's something that I've been thinking a lot about. :) "How can I make this better?"
But there will be a lot of videos on the engine since it comprises many different parts.

Nope, I would not have that kind of patience. I would be trying to dip the tree in something and then fixing it in a spinner and let centrifugal force work it out for me. Mad inventor style1
