    Having very recently and suddenly lost my husband, the most thoughtful and sincere things people have said was " I don't know what to say" and "I am so sorry for your loss" that's it.
    Please don't say "they're in a much better place" or "they are finally at peace" "they aren't hurting anymore" that doesn't help our grief.
    And don't ask if they need something. Tell them. Tell them you are coming by on Tuesday and bringing lunch, will you be home?

      Dear Andrea,
      First of all, I'm very sorry for your loss. Death is very hard and our emotions are all over the place. The most important thing is to remember to be respectful--in your dress, and your behavior, and be very understanding that people handle grief differently, so be flexible.
      I'm so glad this video helped you, and please keep me in your loop--I'm here to help.
      With deep sympathy, and warm regards,
      Heidi💕

    The problem is that funerals have become so depressing that they defeat the purpose for which they were intended: helping the survivors cope with their loss. This is pointed out in The Funeral Critic, which also (albeit lightheartedly) points out how to have a better funeral.

      Hello! Funerals are sad affairs, no matter how much you celebrate a life-it’s still lost. Celebrate with reverence and fondness and help each other manage through the loss. Thank you for your comments!💕🙏

    How long do I stay as an immediate family memeber

    • @HeidiDulebohn1
      @HeidiDulebohn1  Před 2 lety +7

      Hello!
      First of all, I am deeply sorry for your loss. These are the most difficult times of our lives, and sometimes it’s hard to know what to do and what not to do.
      Regarding how long you should stay at a visitation, stay as long as it’s comfortable for you. Sometimes it’s nice if you can stay until the end when all the people have gone, other times you stay to help the other members of the family, and sometimes you need to to focus on your own grief.
      If you can, stay as long as you can, however if you feel you need to leave, for whatever reason, be sure you let the other members of the family know, they will understand, because everyone handles grief differently and in their own way.
      Thank you for watching, and I hope this is helpful. If I can be of more help to you please let me know.
      With deep sympathy,
      Heidi

    How should one dress for attending such an event?

    • @HeidiDulebohn1
      @HeidiDulebohn1  Před rokem +1

      Dear Ashley & Grant.
      First of all, thank you for watching and asking. Such a important question. Secondly, I’m very sorry for your loss that you are attending a visitation.
      When, deciding what to wear for a funeral visitation, one word should come to mind, and that word is respect. This is all about respecting the life that has been lost. So, you want to dress accordingly. Traditionally, dark colors are most appropriate, and something very modest. Something like a dark dress, pants, suit, some thing that covers up, it does not show a lot of skin. This is the time to be very modest and respectful.
      I’m sending my sympathies to you and wishing you all peace.
      I’d be so grateful if you can subscribe to the channel, and keep in touch and let me know what you decided to wear.
      warm regards,
      Heidi 💕🙏

      I say, dress as well as you can afford to. I don’t believe a loved one wants you to go out and buy new clothes for yourself and your children, if you can’t afford to, and then not be able to pay your bills. Do not wear clothes with logos or sayings on it. If in dire straits, I think a clean pair of jeans, and a clean shirt, is better than not showing. Make sure to wipe your shoes as clean as you can get them. I feel if they are family, they probably know if you are struggling financially.
