  • Hi guys! Join me and take a look back at the last year with my Omega Seamaster Planet Ocean 600M, 39.5mm in white ceramic.
    Purchase the nato strap shown from Omega (ref 031CWZ010702) at the link below (you’ll want the “19-20mm” size for this 39.5mm case):

    I have the 39.5mm Deep Black ceramic case version, it's truly stunning. The thickness is a non issue on the wrist. I want the white version in the video (or the Tokyo 2020)

    I own the 42mm blue dial in Titanium. Spectacular watch! Bang-on accurate, stunningly beautiful, and wearable in any situation. It could literally be an ‘only watch’!

      Ah that’s beautiful too! And totally agree it could easily be an only watch! Cheers!

      I’m torn between the 42 mm blue titanium PO (now discontinued) and the steel 39.5 mm. How does yours wear?

    • @walkerb1734
      @walkerb1734 Před 2 lety +1

      @@kofiofosu9051 Personally, I find the 42mm wears much smaller. Almost equivalent to a 40mm watch (i.e. Submariner). What makes it even better is the titanium. You hardly notice it on your wrist.

    Apparently the slower beat rate works better with the Co-Axial escapement. I remember hearing that at some point. Sorry I don’t have the reference on-hand.

    great review man, been waiting 2 years for a new gen PO to come out. Hopefully we get a slimmer case and tapered bracelet next year, rn its slightly too beefy for its size imho

    • @joshswatches
      @joshswatches  Před 2 lety

      Thank you! I’ll say that most of their watches have been getting bigger not smaller, unfortunately (the new PO ultra deep and the whole new SM300 line) so I’m not sure if we’ll see that but I hope we do because I’m with you there!

    I’ve never seen the white on white. I just ordered an orange and white PO. I should’ve dug deeper into the other colors first. Just looking at what my local dealer had I fell in love with the orange and white. The white on white would’ve won had I seen it first.

    • @joshswatches
      @joshswatches  Před 2 lety +1

      If you haven’t taken delivery of it yet (or if it’s still in brand new condition 14 days I think from purchase), you can exchange it for an all white! The orange/white is INCREDIBLE though.

      @@joshswatches I have the Tokyo version and have the opposite reaction from you. I probably would not have bought the all white version as I like the second glance nature of the red accents and the fact I did live in Tokyo for a few years in the 90s so i have that connection.
      That said, I too have had it a little over a year and agree with all your points but haven't had it on a nato yet. Also have the exact same scratches on the clasp as yours from diving at my desk! Cheers.

    • @joshswatches
      @joshswatches  Před 2 lety

      Ah that’s awesome, David! I was seriously debating about the Tokyo one because I was born there and still hold dual US/JP citizenship (that I don’t make nearly enough use of). In a perfect world where I could have had both, you’d better believe I would have both. 😜

      @@joshswatches the funny thing is the PO wasn't at the top of my list but at some point in 2020 I must have seen it and inquired online at Omega. I then forgot about it until about a year later I got an email that my local Omega Boutique had one. I went it and tried it on the white strap and was a bit ambivalent so I said I would think about it. About a week later I called them up and asked them to put it on the bracelet (As you know the Tokyo version comes with the bracelet, a white leather/rubber strap, and a grayish nato) and I would come back try it on again and that is what sold me. They also threw in an additional Omega blue and white nato is which has stripes that represent the lanes on a track and has 1 through 8 engraved on the steel minder. Pretty cool.

    How is the readability? I love the watch and it is on my short-list of 'next omega'. I am a bit concerned about 'white on white'

    • @joshswatches
      @joshswatches  Před rokem

      Definitely go and see it in person if you can, but I’ve never had any issues with legibility. What helps is that the framing around the indices as well as the hands are mirror finished so they’re going to reflect back whatever is around you and that helps as it creates contrast against the white. If you want a white omega and this one doesn’t work, the 300 Pro has a white dial with a black bezel and black hands.

      Hello!! They’re rare for sure, but not because of limited supply but simply because I don’t think a lot of people buy them to begin with and those who do keep them so there aren’t any to go to the second hand market. 😂

    I think that the bracelet of the PO 43,5mm version is better and it also tapers down.

  • @Aemdz8
    @Aemdz8 Před 2 lety +1

    I believe the 3.5 Hz in Omegas is due to the coaxial escapement, and not because they're trying to increase the power reserve

    • @joshswatches
      @joshswatches  Před 2 lety +1

      Ah that’s good to know! If I remember right the older 2500 cal ETA based movements had a 4hz beat rate, which is why I was interested. Doesn’t bother me in the least, and thanks for sharing!

    • @exvan3571
      @exvan3571 Před 2 lety +2

      Yes, Omega reduced from 28,800 to 25,200 to perfect the coaxial escapement. The 2500 A and B series calibers were problematic. The 2500C they reduced the beat rate. The 2500D was a move to three level coax from the two level of the previous iterations. All 2500s were based on the venerable ETA 2892. The 2500D was the last of these before Omega went full in-house with the 8500/9300 coax.
      Interesting stuff.
