  • In today's video I review one of Omega's more recent and higher end dive watches. The Seamaster Planet Ocean professional (ref. 232.30.42.21.01.003) has a truly unique and impressive list of features. It is powered by the 8500 caliber Co-Axial based automatic movement. Although very modern in scale and style, it is blended beautifully with classic design traits taken from some of Omega's best and most legendary divers of the past. The Planet Ocean has everything Omega excels at and propels it into the 21st century as a marvel of engineering. A truly robust, precise and tastefully classic luxury diver, is it the best diver from Omega yet? Today I give my full review.

    The best looking diver out there in my opinion. Still looks fresh 10 years after its release. Makes the submariner and sea dweller look antiquated.

    Acquired this exact watch, new, 10 years ago (after decades of Submariner and Daytona Stainless) and am still thrilled with it each and every day. Masculine and dressy without being fussy about it, with accuracy the Rolex watches could only dream about; and effortless readability (the flat crystal of the Rolex I found too reflective\sometimes hard to see). Going to my last breath wearing this watch

      @GuyVanderAa Před 3 lety +6

      I agree with your evaluation except on the frequency. A lower frequency provides more accuracy and less service for the Omega. I would call that a draw for both brands.

    • @sennaracinglegend1438
      @sennaracinglegend1438 Před 4 měsíci +3

      New planet ocean has a system better than glidelock, it has a simple button inside that you push to increase the length. And about the resale value... if you plan on keeping the watch it means nothing.

    Hello Tristano, I recently purchased an SKX013 after the review you did of your SKX, "The Stealthy". I'll be honest, I never thought I would buy one. The SKX never spoke to me, but after finally receiving mine I realised how wrong I was. I'm in love with my SKX. The quality and beauty you get for the price is just out of this world. Thank you for convincing me to finally get one!
    Also, Great video! A vintage Omega Cal. 562 Seamaster(1965) was my first mechanical watch so its always great to see how the Seamaster has evolved throughout the years. This Planet Ocean looks so so solid!

      The PO is one of my grails and I don't why anyone would ever sell it. It's a whole different thing than a sub but should still be able to last you a life time. Even if it is not quite the timeless design of the sub, still for now it is an absolutely stunning watch in my eyes.

      @bearhead9633 Před 7 lety +1

      RomanDutch a while back when I got mine I was constantly buying and selling watched. I would go on the gray market and buy used. I actually sold a Tag Aquaracer and a Brietling Superocean to get into the PO. I haven't looked back. It's been about 4 years I can't imagine selling it. I was in an Omega store in Maryland a couple of years ago and one of the guys behind the counter wanted to buy it from me and get me into a new one. I declined. I love the liquid metal bezal but I also love the look of my older model.

      bear head Many P.O. Owners & lookers focus on the look, features, aesthetics (looks with panache.., of course!!) ~ & Rightly SO.., BUT I don't notice many/any detailing the P.O.'s 'FEEL' on the wrist..!!/?? When I first put the older, orange bezel-type, on...in a word, SILKINESS is all I can say! Smooth, Fluid, Seamless ~ all these adjectives describe it...it's LITERALLY AN 'EXPERIENCE!' I've had, worn, quite a few watches (yes, even a Rolex Sub [the green bezeled one!]..) & NONE..NOT ONE, Felt as SUBLIME as the P.O.'s. Just saying.🇺🇸😎

The new version of this watch is a " Master Co Axial " it's COSC & Metas certified, rated to 15,000 gauss, effectively an A magnetic watch with no soft iron cage so you can have the display back. Very impressive.

    I own the 45.5mm grey, & orange bezelled models of this watch with the orange 6-9-12 markers.
    Incredibly accurate, I don't believe either watch has been more than 5 seconds out over a week, let alone a day. Indeed, my grey bezelled version after 168 hours was somewhere between half & three quarters of a second fast!
    I use 35 winds on the power-reserve which seems to suit both watches.

I have used it as a day watch without having received more than precision, elegance even when I work always dressed in suit and just Today I have resolved to take a complete service in Omega house to have it for other long years. An extraordinary piece, with an exceptional design, unimaginable details for its price and next to my Moonwatch and X-33, a trio of wonders of classical and modern watchmaking. I recomend it profundly in every aspect, as a tool and a luxury watch to dress with confidence.

It was a fantastic watch, looked great on lots of colour Nato's, and the 8500 movement was not only beautiful but also incredibly accurate. I loved the 12 months I spent with it but the sub does beat it hands down for me. And I still have my pre-ceramic seamaster so Omega still get plenty of wrist time.

    I've watched so many of your videos. They are always so well put together. However, you have absolutely out-done yourself with this video. The quality was beyond fantastic. Well done. And wow, what an unbelievably gorgeous watch. Possibly my favorite you've ever had on the show.

    I have a Planet ocean 39.5mm 8800 black with black leather/rubber strap as my first luxury watch. I did try the 43.5mm, but it looked massive on my 7 inch wrists. It’s good to knock out the baddies, but I wanted something more tame and classy. This watch is thinner and the ceramic bezel and dial make it play with light. Beautiful and on the same time robust and reliable.

    The 45.5 mm was my first 'proper, watch. Flipped it for my grail, a 114060 subby. Despite this, These P.O's still hold a special place in my heart. One day I'll be able to afford to have them both. Also, the accuracy is frankly unbelievably good. Puts my sub to shame. Keep up the amazing work TGV !! from a Welshman in Oz

    Awesome review. I had the 42 mm 2500D version from Quantum Of Solace. Its the one watch I regret selling, I have had all the subs and you are right it gives it a run for its money. interestingly enough the omega clasp came first...Rolex had to up the game and develop the glide lock and ceramic to compete. But the Omega PO just oozes masculinity and makes you feel "well 'ard" whilst wearing it. The sub is a little more subtle but more bling noadays. Cant go wrong with either. And for heaven sake man go watch Skyfall and get with the times lol

    Superb review as always. I've owned the 42mm with the 8500 and it's such a great daily tool watch to live with, you never get bored of looking at it.
    I traded mine for the big brother chronograph version with the 9300 as seen in the dark side of the moon. That to is a beautiful watch in every way and was my grail watch so I'm very lucky to own it.
    I know you love your bit of zing with the Orange, take a peak at the new PO's, the zing added to those is divine and really adds a youthful/sporty look.
    Get yourself a PO with the 8500, since the launch of the new version the 8500 movement has dropped fractionally in price and you can find them at Seamaster calibre 2500 money now.
    Great reviews !

    Got the GMT version of this in perfect used condition at my jeweler...only a couple months old with box and papers. It has a black and white ceramic bezel that represents day-night of the 2nd time zone. It's very "Rolex GMT" but I think it looks a little sportier. The rubber band is attractive, but, like all rubber bands, it needs to be cleaned or it gets smelly and feels hot sometimes. I put a solid blue NATO on it and got 2 compliments TODAY on it. I have a large wrist, 7.8 inches or so. I can wear this easily and comfortably but it is tall. I don't think about that unless I'm putting on a coat or something. Not a deal-killer but you do have to pay attention to not hook it on sleeves. Very comfy otherwise and a really beautiful watch. Wish it would tell time upside-down. I think the bottom side is even prettier than the top!
    The watch comparison should not be Sub vs this watch. The comparison should be Sea-Dweller vs. this watch. Not the Deep-Sea, but the normal Sea-Dweller.

    A very professional video on the PO TGV, and while i might add, very fitting!
    I wish i could pull this watch off but i couldn't, i will say i think the new Omega 300 ref: 233.30.41.21.01.001
    pulls of the best from the PO and the style of the older Omega 300 with a far better Co-axial movement than both!

  • @TonyManero88
    @TonyManero88 Před 7 lety

    TGV,
    Every new video, you convince me to buy the watch you review! This is such an addiction!
    I have always liked the PO, however I have never pulled the trigger and bought one. While I do not consider myself to be a Bond "expert", I somewhat consider myself a Bond watch purist in the sense that, amongst all of the variations of the PO, my preference is the 2201.50.00. The PO has been a huge hit for Omega, and as you have inferred, it is no surprise.
    I will go so far as to say that this model is probably Omega's most solid, robust timepiece in their current lineup. Manufacturing a 39mm version was also a very smart decision by Omega. It is broad, but not too broad, and will allow everyone to get into this model without being limited to 42mm-45.5mm (45.5mm is too big in my personal opinion).
    I really enjoyed this review and your in-depth knowledge of the movement. I certainly learned a lot today!
    Have a great weekend!
    Cheers,
    Nathan

    This watch is my daily wearer and after a year it's still a thrill to wear.
    It's on a rubber deployant, so it weighs a lot less and is very comfortable.
    42mm wears very nicely on my 7.5 inch wrist. The silver numbered version is subtle yet classy and possibly more versatile than the orange(orange is cool though).
    Thanks for the review.

      Totally agree i have this exact one. Totally love the orange over grey matte bezel. The james bond one in skyfall i believe doesn’t have the orange but is just metal color. Nevertheless i love the orange pop more. Better than the latest 8900 movement one with a distracting streak of orange on the bezel between 12-3
