    The faux patina, and brown dial and bezel, is why I got the watch. The warmer tones are what did it for me. I didn't want yet another white or rose gold watch. I'm no horologist nor collector. The 007 is secondary, the color palette is entirely what drew me in.

      @trentonwahl6772 Před rokem +1

      I ended up buying another watch but this was and will likely stay on my list because of the warmer tones as well. I fit in the same category of not being a horologist.

    @hobbyoftheday4017 Před 3 lety +58

    I respectfully disagree on the "faux patina of the lume" it looks more camouflage to me and compliments the none flashy look. I think the watch designers were going for a low vis tactical look more so than the vintage look.

    One thing I always find off-putting is when something becomes collectible or popular due to it's association with a particular film, then the manufacturer starts cashing in by creating "collector's editions" and jacking up the prices. I own a Seamaster 2531.80. I like that the watch is associated with Bond but the best thing for me is that it doesn't say 007 or have any references to James Bond on any part of the watch. I think the Spectre is gorgeous and very tastefully done but slapping 007 on the watches and making it obvious they are "Bond Watches" comes off as a bit hokey to me. It's akin to stamping "Alien" or "Ripley" on the Giugiaro

    • @j.burgess4459
      @j.burgess4459 Před 3 lety +30

      Agreed - it would have been much better if they had left off the OO7 from the case back (and even more so the phoney military stores reference numbers.) It would have still been the 'watch from the film' just by virtue of being on Daniel Craig's wrist and being visible in some shots. Let's face it, the 5513 Rolex Sub will always be known (among other things) as the watch from "Live and Let Die" and "The Man with the Golden Gun" - even though there are no 'James Bond-ish' markings on the watches.

      Have you seen the 212.32.41.20.04.001? With "007" as part of the seconds hand. I'm not kidding.
      It's so tacky.

    • @DjVader112
      @DjVader112 Před 3 lety +6

      Yeah it completely ruins it, to me its enough knowing im wearing the same watch as james bond it doesn’t have to hammer it in like “look a 007 on the watch to let you know im a bond watch”

  • @michaeledwardlenzi

    "Easy smiles and expensive watches" is such a good movie line. It is descriptive of a certain style and sensibility that is often what draws so many of us in to the hobby. We can get the watch, but, as we all learn and hopefully later appreciate, true grace under pressure can never be purchased. Loved the review. Thanks, brother.

    Great highly documented and masterfully edited video. Even though these were the exceptions rather than the rule, there were large diving wristwatches at the time such as the Memovox Polaris (42mm) and the Panerai… I believe there might have been others. I have no problem with the rather unique and peculiar colour scheme adopted for this Omega, it’s pretty. The watch is light, mat all over and extremely well finished. I have just collected mine, it’s awesome, it sure leads to an easy grin

Looks similar to your '58, with no numerals and a Champaign dial. Recently had it serviced, and between the cleaning and a new crystal, looks stunning! I'll wear it for another happy handful of years, then pass it on to my son, as is only proper.

    I think they got the look spot on, it blends a modern look with a vintage military look very well, let’s not forget it will never be a genuine military issued watch so some form over function can be forgiven? the overall design is very clever seeing as military watches are very much in vogue at the moment. A brand new, military look with broad arrow omega seamaster!! What’s not to like.... thumbs up from me. Just need to find the £8000 to buy one. So light it almost feels cheap. My every day piece is a Sjøø Sandstrøm UTC Skydiver, that I love, but I might have to replace that one now. The only change I would make is that I would like that you could see the the clockwork through the back.

So to me, it's the next iteration of same, nice but trendy. And yes I like the 007 movies.

    Thank you very much for this this review. I will probably watch it time and time again as this is my favourite watch! My horological grail. Yeah so I'm one of these dissenters that actually LOVES faux patina. It's something about the colours. I'm fortunate to own a rather old SKX which was given to me in broken condition. I loved the (non faux) Patina on this so much that I went ahead and for it modded with a NH35, Double Dome Sapphire with Blue AR and Omega style second hand. The crystal really makes the patina pop. I've got a sapphire fully lumed bezel (from Island Watches) flying to me, and that will complete the mod. I really adore the NTTD Seamaster 300m but simply cannot afford it. The only thing missing from this video is the presence of Hugo. I've watched many reviews of this piece and have eagerly awaited this one, and with good reason. Definitely the most engaging review by a long shot. The intro is awesome as is all of the asides and info. Maybe one day I will own one of these!

    Your intro is visual and audio masterpiece! I appreciate military feel of this watch and fact that it's not gimmicky. We Bond fans can certainly appreciate it. You also did nice quick reflection of Omega watches directly associated with James Bond frenchise. Loved touch on history as well. Very enjoyable video with nice presentation of the watch. Thank you Tristano.

    LOVE the mesh. I actually had a mesh strap on my Fitbit when I wore it and I would get more compliments on the strap than any watch I've ever owned - probably 30 fold. No joke, people love the mesh haha.

    Love the watch but hate the price. Honestly I cannot justify spending extra on this one than, for example, blue Master Chronometer SMP 2018. Same as I couldn't spend extra on Spectre in comparison with Regular Seamaster 300.
    Somehow I don't like they've militarised this dressy diver. Planet Ocean / Seamaster 300 hands would suit it better - again IMHO :=)
    Top review, as usual TGV! Glad you still make us happy with your videos!

    17:30 Austin TGV powers! Lol love it! Btw, there should be an option for patina or another color scheme. Maybe matted blue dial, all matted case (no change) and blue bezel (without military markings) “id but that for a dollar!” 👍👌

    Absolute killer of an intro TGV! ... just mint! (I noticed there was no mirror/butterfly effect on this one .... great restraint, bravo!). I didn't like this model when I first saw the images on release, but I saw and tried it on in an Omega Boutique and I have to say it changed my mind. But, only on the mesh ... somehow that seemed to make more sense of the style and the fautina ... and a titanium Milanese is a thing of beauty! (a shame you didn't get the option, Sooo LIGHT). Suffice to say I was impressed when I saw it in the metal so to speak. In a pinch id still go for the spectre though I think, but id probably accept either if James offered ;-) Most enjoyable part of my week so far was a strong cuppa and sitting down to watch this ... thank you sir. O&A !

    Love it, perfect apart from the nato styled strap - a pet hate of mine is natos where the buckle is held in with a springbar (whole point of a nato is to negate springbar failure), luckily Watchgecko make one in NTTD colours with a solid sewn in buckle.
    Excellent review, ultimate seamaster 👍🏻👍🏻

    I’m subscribed ..
    I’ve got to have this latest 007 ..
    As it looks brilliant in both strap configurations.
    A must for any watch collection in my opinion..
    The Omega Seamaster has one of the best history lines of watch’s today..
    Thank you again
