- Moving Day has finally arrived as we scrabble to pack up the last few things. Of course it is suppose to rain today.
RSD is almost here so now you get to hear my highly anticipated picks and the items that make me scratch my head and wonder why.
My neighbor had a bunch of stereo equipment he was going to throw on the curb, see what i picked up and let me know your thoughts about it

Joel, how are you my long lost friend. Wonderful to hear from you. We got to Denver yesterday. Kat was really stressed but he survived. He wakes up and meows all night long so we don’t get a ton of sleep. I pick up keys to the new place today, don’t know when the stuff arrives

Bill, once we took Kat out of his carrier in the car he quieted down. Yesterday he slept on the floor by Patty most of the way. When I see all these live albums it makes you wonder if they are running out of things to press. Live albums are super cheap and do have a good profit margin. Always great to hear from you Bill

The Nakamichi TA-4A receiver is a great find. It uses the STASIS amp design licensed by Nelson Pass. Should be a very good sounding receiver. My Nakamichi PA-5a ii amp with STATIS seems to always find its way back into my system. Best of luck with your move.

Hey Steve. Hoping your Record collection and Cat make it safely to Colorado. We recently had a big move this past fall from Calgary to Vancouver. And a big downsize! So had to figure out how to get the the Record collection and stereo equiptment into a much smaller space. Working ok so far. We feel good about the downsize, and even better about being in Vancouver. Not much fun moving, but wish you luck and safe journey. Look forward to seeing your new videos from Colorado!
We did some downsizing also but not nearly enough. I am nervous about what won’t fit into the new place. We rent for two years and then look for a place but it should be a smalller place. Going to have to get rid of more. It is not easy to do

Hey Steve, there’s a Westbound compilation RSD release I picked up, it’s really good, lots funky tunes. The Joe Strummer album was excellent. I also picked up a none RSD release, one of your favorite artist, Fela, the album London Scene. I really enjoyed that album, it’s a recent reissue. I agree with your sentiments on RSD.
Frank, London Scene is great, it is one of Fela’s early albums where he got his Afro beat rhythm’s going. Great pick up. I thought about that Westbound record. Thanks for the info, I will have to look into that

Hey Uncle Steve. I hope the move went well and everything turned out smoothly. RSD has some interesting releases that I will try to grab: Howlin' Wolf, Earl Hooker, Memphis Slim with Sonny Boy Williamson, Dr. John and The Faces. I tend not to bother with 7" singles, picture discs or "alternate takes" type stuff. Best of luck! Cheers!
Nephew, if I see that Howling Wolf I will grab it. Blues is one of the few live recordings that I like as I feel the music is better live , more down and dirty. Best of luck on your hunt Chris

Not that i know much about them, but the stereo equipment looked good to me. I have 28 items on my rsd list though "only" 8 of them are mostly must have's. There's many that interest me, but i would like to know more about them before i decide to buy them. You do know that now that you talked about Chris Isaak, you're gonna wake up in the middle of the night to think about it?

Road trip with a drugged up Kat, that sounds like a movie...watch out he doesn't hook up with some crazy biker gang in the middle of nowhere lol. You dig BDP, I never would have guessed, thought you were not much of a rap fan. Think I have Edutainment on CD. Gandalf coming out huh, I have seen that one mentioned so many times on here but never heard it. Osmium I might be interested in as well. Other than those and a Prince Far I release there is not much I am too fussy about on this list. Have fun Steve
I use to have a variety of rap CDs but I like mostly what came out in the late 80s and early 90s. Later rap for the most part didn’t grab my attention Doug
The Nakamichi receiver is worth keeping. I would toss the Insignia disc player. Best of luck with the move. Something tells me Kat is not going to enjoy the trip. Poor guy! I'll see you on the other side!
Kat has had a tough time with the whole trip and staying at the different places is freaking him out. He stays hidden most of the day. He is not a Aiden fan lol. Thanks for the info on the stereo equipment Mark. I have to try out the different receivers to see what works the best now.

That Nakamichi is a beauty, they are/were the gold standard for cassette decks, I used to have one. Don't know about the newer ones, but the vintage ones used gold soldering. The one I had was the low-end model I bought in the mid-1980s and at that time I paid $400 for it. $400 in about 1986. They were expensive but they were also the best. I threw mine away too slightly more than a decade ago, and I honestly regret doing that despite the fact I didn't have cassettes anymore at the time. I miss that baby. So that's a fine curb find with that tape deck. Is it a receiver or tape deck?
It was a receiver Richard. Some others have said that the Nakaminchi was good. I truly have no idea. $400 in 86 for a cassette deck! Wow! That is a serious investment Richard
Hope the move goes all smooth and painfree. Wish you finding joy in settling in Aurora. I have some fond memories from there, even if I found it a bit bland for someone who needed others to drive him to down-town Denver for the beers and the basebalø 😊

The loading of the truck started at 9 AM and went until 1 AM. We had a ton of it boxed up but they wrapped up all the furniture which was a lot. What a day but we’re committed now!
There are a handful of RSD releases that I wouldn't mind, but I'm not desperate for any. I have visitors tomorrow, so won't be making the trip to any stores. I'll see what's left online next week. Hope the move is all but done now. Cheers. Steve

Yeah I was not so thrilled with this round of RSD, there is a few that I could get, but nothing really essential this time. Looks like you're almost all set for the move, sir...that's good. New chapter about to start in earnest in beautiful downtown Aurora....(Sorry, Oddity Archive joke..heh heh). You failed to mention a single title for RSD that I'm interested in, which means my chances to pick up everything I want should be really high, since NO ONE is mentioning them, LOL! And that's a 'yay' for me, I think. Hope Kat isn't too much of a pain during the drive out, and I hope all your stuff gets there safely! And you and Mrs Carlson as well!

That Nakamichi is a nice unit. The Technics is a decent receiver. The Onkyo isnt too bad for something that is sort of newer.

I hated the stuff that charted in the 80s/90s, because in a way it had similarities to a lot of the metal that was around then. That is, it was all about how big their dicks were. Lots of sexist & homophobic nonsense. It was the women that got me into it first, as they gave a less idiotic viewpoint in their rap.
I bantered the idea of the Ronstadt box set but why I have multiple copies. So unless someone wants to get it for me ?!?!?! 😊. I like any and all stereo stuff :)

Actually the next Cheech and Chong record had the rolling papers. The Gandalf is a RSD first so you don’t need to worry about getting it. Unless you need the green colored vinyl. I think the Dream Syndicate could be good. After being burned on the Dead Kennedys Iguana Tapes I would give it a listen before buying. I do love demos, unreleased tracks and BBC recordings. The best RSD release for me is the Wall Of Voodoo live album. You didn’t get to the W’s. If you don’t have the Wall Of Voodoo debut it is also a RSD release. I have 3 of them and will send you one when I get your new address.

I dont know if I am really going to seek out anything on RSD. Billy Bragg caught my eye. I will stream it first. Gandalf, I think, is on everyone's list. But it's an RSD First...so if I dont get a copy, I will wait.
I'm a Gorillaz fan, so I might get that. The Hives...maybe? I used to listen to North Mississippi Allstars and I had this on cd, but they really shine when performing live. I dont like their studio stuff all that much.
Parliment is probably one i will get if i go out. Talking Heads is a YES, and i typically pick up the Jazz Dispensary RSD title.

I threw away some albums today and it felt good. 101 Strings. In fact I may chuck some more. I can't do RSD but I might take a look afterwards. I'm looking to buy some non RSD. Tim Weisberg. Because........ I have issues. Happy move.

I keep dreading my retirement ONLY due to moving and packing it all up - but maybe I will be rich by then and pay some dude to do it. I have been decluttering the past few months and making progress, but still.

Hi Steve. I’ve never been a huge fan of RSD. I know, shame on me. When I had my record store they were not nice to deal with. They had a ridiculous corporate mentality unrealistic minimums and allocation bs. Besides I’ve got no time for those RSD folks. I’ve got over 50000 records at my fingertips to dig through. I wonder if I’ll come across any old RSD titles in there lol. Have a smooth move, Steve.

RSD really should've fit around you Mike. It's just rude. I saw a few things I liked. Kristin Hersh (Hips & Makers) & The Beat (Wha'appen). I have an original on Flying Nun, but I noted that RSD are doing the Chills The Lost EP. Fantastic if you don't already have it. I agree small things should cost less than large things. And I agree Mike there's too many live albums, picture discs and records full of unreleased duds. I also noticed as you were reading these out these dud albums which nearly sound like the actual album's name. Sneaky marketing. "Motley Crue, good for them" 😂Mudhoney box would be nice but I have all of their albums already. Onkyo's better than a poke in the eye with a sharp stick as they say. Cheers...Mike
I don’t believe the Chills were on the US list Mike. Funny how RSD is different around the world but that is proper marketing. I am on a 8 hour journey today but I may check out record stores in my way to CO and see if I can find what I’m looking for. Maybe not. Hi Steve, good luck with your move to Denver. RSD - it's now a joke, not even worth standing in a queue for. Those chasing a 3" Beatles record? they must be mad. A few years ago World Of Bowie (budget record) was out on RSD for £30 and you could buy an original for £1 in a charity shop. So RSD is not for me..
That is my thought. I will go out Sunday but so many of these records you can easily find in a bargain bin! The Beatles 3” was being limited to only a few per store due to demand. People are nuts Paul
