What do you think about the new bike? Let us know down below đ
What happened with the Orbea contest to win that bike? Was there to be an announcement?
I cant even afford the frameđ
Hei Oli, I love the bike, been waiting for it to launch. This yellow bike is 55cm in size , how tall are you ? Does this size fits you as normal bike size you would go for? Can it still work if you go a size smaller?
i admit really nice great bike responsive ,but when come to a long distance steep hill climb end of the day coming ride, own mind will will saying im going drop or die đ for this one
TT bike with drop bars
I hope this trend of integrated storage catches on. Itâs ridiculous that we are riding bikes the price of a decent used car, and the only way to store even a single spare tube is to velcro on a bag. Every bike should have a storage box.
+1. Even more when you see all the space available (and "wasted") in the new deep shapes of an aero frame
I've seen a couple of new bikes with integrated storge. The Cube Agree and Fara F/road...
Yes, for in the frame storage. No, for hanging under the frame storage.
Really appreciate the explicit mention of your Orbea relationship. Thanks. đđđ
I love these videos. "X watts saving at 40kph? That's amazing," as I sit here stuffing down the last Celebration chocs from the tin after lunch, vegging on the sofa. Very nice bike though. I can only dream of affording a decent road bike.
on the other hand if you have a shitty bike it's an even better workout...
@@simonstucki "not aero" does not mean "shitty".
Door dash
Those 'watts saved' claims should be taken with a mountain of salt. Wind tunnel testing doesn't translate very well into the real world.
Another bike I could never afford!!!
"I wouldn't have got dropped. That probably isn't true, but a boy can dream..."
no jokes! Your perseverance and surpassing all your laughed at limitations make you a hero. At least for all of us non-pros, late adopters and non-main-cyclists (main sport anything else) appreciate you showing us, what can be done with a lot of willpower.
Keep on smashing expectations.
Oh snap, quirks and features? Cycling Doug DeMuro?
wondered if anyone would get that reference! đđ
@@oliverbridgewood3929 " Before i get started, be sure to check out bikes and bids, which is my new selling platform for bikes of the modern era...đ "
THISSSSS... Is the new Orbea Orca Aero
Anyone who buys this (if they donât have to wait two years to get it) will spend 50% of their time whizzing past everyone then spend the other 50% explaining to everyone that itâs a downtube faring and not an ebike đđ
also disc breaks just add extra drag lol
Don't really think that those dentists could whizz past anyone đ
Yeah that would be coming straight off.
FFS Sam, itâs a Banana Storage Facilityâą , not a fairing!
@@RaveniusSFRJ agreed. Theyâre too busy paying you your paycheck đđ
Wouldn't normally compliment another man on his lunchbox but very tidy sir, and excellent weight distribution too better than having your bag hanging out the back of the saddle.
hahaha!
Had a rather large banana in there as well
Haha Quirks and features. âTHIS!, is the New Orbea Orca Aeroâ
lol exactly what i thought
And then I am going to take it out on the road, and then I am gong to give it a âŠ. Score
@@wotexpat9367 Starting off with de Daily Categories and Features... Practicality is good but not unsual for a bike of this type... this bike is Nice offers decent storage room, but not much room for accessories so its a 5/10....
Came here for this comment :-D
Me: " I want it!! "
Wallet: " Shut up, you already have too many bikes..."
PUSH THE SEATPOST BOLT RUBBER THING INNNNNNNN
My favorite part about the dura ace brake calipers is that they also double as Bluetooth speaker. Pretty cool.
I can't believe I actually believe you were serious for a second. XD
Excellent intro to a new exciting Orbea. Also, good to see the potential conflict of interest call out at the start of the video.
Long live the horizontal top tube and classic geometry and damn you Orbea for producing such a beautiful bike. No doubt in my mind that the sloped top tube was some marriage counsellor's ruse to prevent us bike aesthetes from spending too much.
GCN Tech: You gain more efficiency with a stiffer frame
also GCN Tech: You don't lose any efficiency thru frame flex
It's a given that every frame material (steel, aluminum, titanium or carbon) will flex at some point. Stiffness is just a marketing term brands used to sell bikes. Instead of actually focusing on the Pros and Cons of each frame materials ride quality. Stiffer doesn't always means a better bike. If it gives you a harsh ride.
In a way they are right though
It depends on which direction the flex is in. With a carbon layup you can achieve good lateral stiffness, which decreases deformation during cornering and sprinting (effectively increasing efficiency), whilst also being able to engineer some flex in certain area's to absorb vibration (also increasing efficiency). In a frame, engineering flex is complete bullshit, because its triangular geometry converts every load into a normal force and therefore diminishes any perpendular flex. Increasing lateral stiffness therefore has top priority in a frame to improve handling and power transfer.
However, in something like a fork or a seatpost, which is essentially a pole sticking out, engineering some flex can make a big difference to comfort (although most of the vibration absorption happens through the tires)
With metal you don't have this possibity of engineering directional stiffness and you really have to make a choice between stiffness or flex. Part of the reason why many metal frames use stiff metal frames and more flexy carbon forks.
Thats because it's all bollox. To the average cyclist this bike will make zero difference. It's just glitter.
bees dicks bees dicks
Absolutely love my previous gen Orca Aero but I do quite like the fairing/storage on this new one!
Great job describing the features.
Oh Ollie you are awesome! Like you, I'm a chemistry nerd but I've only recently got into biking and am learning/laughing lots watching you guys! And yeah, I grew up watching Eric a.k.a. Bananaman too :) I'm too much of a newb to justify buying a crazy bike like that tho. Always interesting to see how a bike that's got more volume and weight to it can be better, at least in the higher speed regimes.
This bike is really interesting. Would be great for roads bike category TTâs and flatter road races. I wonder if you can specify bar width and stem length when ordering.
Yes you can
Take a look the new Simplon bike. Its 2in1
Thanks for keeping the top tube horizontal.
Now that is an amazing bike! đšđšđšđšBut the best thing in this video was to see Siâs aero dance again!!! đ€Łđ€Łđ€Łđ€Ł
Ollie, flat top tube refers to the profile, I think you meant "horizontal" when differentiating it from sloping. :-) You should also give us an idea of the price as it was specced.
I love it! Wanna have it right now and take it for a spin đ
It looks like time machine of BMC. Nice bike orbea
At this point I'm wondering how long until the first diamond shaped surf board with wheels comes out as the 'mostest' aero bike ever, lol
Very interesting aero bike. I hope that the short wheel base , will not make the bike too agile and damage itâs stability(on flats or down hills straight sections).
Holy damn that is a beautiful bike.
love the look of this machine, although not sure about the fairing :-)
GCN drinking game. Every time Ollie says âAeroâ or âAerodynamicâ drink
that's not a drinking game that's a death sentence
Hic
No thanks don't really want to go out through alcohol poisoning
really great bike design
GCN:s own aero presenter is perfect for presenting new aero bikes!
Canât wait to see a Hambini review of this.
Is the rear wheel ricking a 140mm disc rotors?
It's an absolute beauty.
Ollie, whatâs with the dirt on the right side of drop bars and the seat wing. Did you guys drop this piece of art? đ
I love Doug DeMuro's bike reviews
The banana compartment was impressive !
Looks neat but that udder is awful.
its so beautiful
Tweaking my interest in buying an aero bike. Really beautiful. I'll eschew the udder and go for a bento LOL
Aero bikes are just cool, always liked them glad some new ones are being released recently with new ideas
looks great
Why not review some Chinese brands? I don't mean Specialized, Giant, Colnago and the like, but something like Winspace.
How long is the handlebar reach?
First thing that came to mind was the BMC Timemachine...
I am still considering if this bike would be worth it as a relatively beginner trying to go intermediate and do some races. Would it be worth the price?
Drinking from the goblet of aero đ
ultegra mechanical eh? hm.... I like it.
Was the paint chipped when it was showing the carbon logo?
Poor Ollie :) Nice bike though
My Surly LHT has the aerodynamics of a brick and a Volvo 240 combined. Maybe I should get one of these?
Nice fairing!!!!
Without "Brand name" print in main frame is good ideal?
That tool box reminds me of The Far SideâŠ.âoh the shame of RemorasâŠ.â.
Nothing wrong with an aero fairing tool box-I always carry tools to get me home without the need to call for a ride anyway.
Whatâd be really slick is an aerodynamic fairing full size frame pump fitted somewhere.
#AskGcnTech Hi Alex, Manon and Ollie! I got bike frame with internal cable roouting going from steering bar through the stem, and than through the fork. This frame is Di2 compatible, but i am not sure if this routing ok for cable shifting as Shimano r7020, or Grx Rx600/810. Need your professional opinion.
What bike is this?
#askgcntech I'll be having a transaction of a frame swap and would like to know how much should cash one should add. The transaction is Ridley Noah RS 2012 swap to Bianchi via nirone 7 2018. How much should the Bianchi owner add? Both bikes is on the same condition. Thanks
Up to 30 or 32 mm tyres?
That bike is literally just the Lamborghini Aventador of the cycling world, that yellow and black finish fits it very well
you mean heavy and loud?
I love this thing. It's this beautiful mix between Ordu and the Orca OMX. I've probably saved 5 different congifs and color combos on my MyO Account đ
Nice looking bike. Love the banana yellow. Must slip through the air⊠But why call it the aero? Arenât almost all new bikes âaeroâ by now?
Love that banana yellow colour! Why have some brands stopped putting their name on the down tube?
Maybe because they are all made in the same factory anyway so in future you can just put any sticker you want on it :-)
Itâs a radical departure from how they used to put the brand name on every tube. Glad those days are gone. I like low key labeling. BMC has it too. I think right now BMC and Orbea have the most appealing designs.
Cool đđŽââïžđŽââïžđŽ
Fantastic bike....
I really hoped that disc brake chatter @ 9:40 wouldn't happen with the bigger clearance on the new DA calipers..
itâs something that strangely iâve not had an issue with when using the new xtr rotors, but as they are still in short supply, we had the older ones.
đ„đ
4:34 I didn't think Ollie was old enough to remember Bananaman!
when eric eats a bananaâŠ. đđ
Before you showed the close ups, I thought it was a Cannondale SuperSix Evo.
Which is more aero Orbea or Ribble
12:32 nice paint job he said ironically
13:01 who tripped the bike over?
I usually love Orbea's styling but although I see the aim of that downtube storage I think it ruins the lines of the frame.
Color is a big factor I think. Black storage on a black bike would be much more acceptable visually
"But, it's not all about aero" @6:47
@GCN Tech, where is the real Ollie!?
Looks like an Orbea had a baby with a Trek Speed Concept
Why is it covered with mud? What have you done with it?
Looks pretty close to the BMC Timemachine road.
12:32 is that a nasty chip in the paint next to the brake side rear wheel axle? Yikes.
I noticed that too
How do you get this colourway
Love the lunchbox. Pop a nice sandwich in there.
âQuarks and features,â someoneâs been watching Doug DeMuro videos.
Nice.
OFFS, the fork crown shape in no way affects the airflow over the seatstay junction with the seattube. The airflow between the two is so dirty from the churning affect of the legs, it makes the seatstay design almost meaningless.
I think they were focusing on the riderless bikes again.
@@larrylem3582 spokeless CFD đ
For me. A big company in cycling has same shape same look whether orbea, trek,or etc.but one brand was difference tht is pinarelo
The goblet of aero is the only goblet I ever use...
Does it go fast without pedals?
Looks interesting but no good for the Tour of cambridge UCI qualifier Iâm training for at the mo Iâm guessing
Dear GCN, During your bike tests, would you be reasonably able & willing to add a HUD of speed and grade?, to demonstrate these bikes? Maybe watts/kg as well.
Quirks and features - someone's been watching some Doug DeMuro!!
Lost count of how many Ollie said aerodynamic in this video đ€Ż
Did Shimano just release a mechanical Ultegra group? That's the first I've heard of it.
No.
Well. I'm an Orbea fan currently with 4 in my stable including a Ordu TT. I love this new Orca... haha... not the colour though!
Savage looking bike.... I'd defo buy it!!
When I heard "quirks and features" I understood how popular has become Doug Demuro.
But can one use a non-orbea stem and handlebar?
For the handlebars, you're free to run any brand and model. As for the stem, if it's compatible with FSA's SRS headset cover (basically has a hole for the shift and brake lines to exit), which I personally think it might be (based on online observations only so far, don't take my word for it, take it with a grain of salt for now), then yes, you could run any stem you like, but it'll create a little more aerodynamic drag.
Was that brake squeal that I heard on this video?
EXPECTED delivery dates IF you buy one is March-May 2022.
It's only 50 trillion dollars. Can't wait to get one

How aero is the goblet of aero?
Nobody knows for sure, for it is held safe in the Glorious House of Gains where only the chosen few may enter. Praise be to Our Lord and Savior Dan Bigham đ for he provides aero wisdom and guidance and sacrificed his only credit card left to bring us mere mortals the gains we dream of.

Does a lower CoG actually allow a bicycle to corner more quickly?
