What happpens when one of the people get so mad that they hurt the judges with said weapon? They go to jail, but what happens(on camera maybe)?
@Zwei oh my god tf?
@Zwei this video was uploaded a week ago but in private, as soon as he uploaded he commented. Then today he set video to public.
I am an Arab and I ask you to make the Arab sword .. It is considered one of the most powerful swords.. thank you
Why did Jake strike a tree limb with a hardened blade? I guess he needed more drama in his life. 😒
When it comes down to _personal preference_ of the handle, you know you've really got 2 champions standing there.
But there's also the fact the the first sword cut the boar carcass in half with 1 swing while the other one couldn't..
Cause the dude hit the disc in the spine and not between it
@@anubhavdas6468 he cut the wrong way for one and hit the actual spine of the pig instead of going through the carcass and flowing through it
Ya both those were professional quality if l was the judge l wouldn't know what to do????
Nagamaki handles need to have a similar curvature as the blade. His didn't, which made it more unwieldy, making it worse than Braxton's. No hate, definitely quality metalwork, but the finished product wasn't as good overall.
"Guys only want one thing and it's disgusting."
What guys want:
"IT WILL KEEEEL"
☠️
This is a really interesting and educational show.
My favorite aspect is the positivity and respect that the judges show to the contestants . The critiques are designed to assist the contestants , not to insult them for the sake of some cheap drama.
I also love the respect shown between contestants. These people are professionals, not socialites and it shows.
I love The 'Keel' Tests
😂😂😂
Sun Tzu wouldn't have it any other way.
I show these clips to my elementary students in class when related to lesson we're taking, and it gets them so pumped up to learn history. This show is a gift.
@@yahyaelkashef4244 there are two aspects to the show that i don't like -
one - the repetitive use of the phrase " are you ready ?" this is just nauseating and lacks any degree of creativity on behalf of the producers .
two- one of the judges that performs the strength test has some serious anger/ rage issues . He appears to be angrily trying to destroy the blades rather than test them .
I swear people only come on this show to hear doug say "it will kill"
@Thomas Light don't think so
I do.
@Thomas Light There has been a few. They are very rare though
I feel called out
Yeasss it will killl
Every animal in this series be like, “I didn’t sign up for this”
Lmao
animals are for us to cut with blades, so long we will eat them later, it is moral, ethical, and nice.
@Mi p did you just assume my religious beliefs ??
I am an Atheist, I wouldn't mind pork if I had a chance to eat it.
It's not real...
It's still clean to eat ..I'm sure they still can donate it. To make sausages hahah
"overall sir, your nagamaki will nagamakill"
Nagamakeel**
keal (keep everyone alive)
This is an intense 1v1 between blacksmiths
Just Some Guy without a Mustache what are you going here ? ( sorry i got bad english )
Dilbarage Afou why bad english?
☝🏾fairy tail for life
Your everywhere
Respect the mustache and put yours back on!
The sportsmanship of these two is amazing.
6:07 I love how they edit in an "oof" for each slice.
XD
😂
I don’t think that was an edit 😂
The thing I love about this show is how it takes these skilled guys from the middle of nowhere and reveals the skill and craftsmanship within the people. Who would have thought a couple of dudes could turn out beautiful and functional Japanese swords like these? You really just have to admire the talent and humility of these two.
Yes I know I'm months late to your comment. Braxton is from where I live and the only way you would know about Carthage, Texas, is if you are a Texas Highschool football nut.
I'm an absolute noob in this, but are katana's handles supposed to be that long?
@@arandomperson9116 They're not katanas, they're nagamakis. It's kind of like a two-handed sword but also somewhat like a polearm/halberd at the same time.
Well, it's far from traditional construction, but just the fact that they can put out something that'll survive these tests in as little as 5 days is always impressive.
I hate when it comes this close because I feel bad for the one sent gome
Christian Marquette you mean home
I think it all came down to the impressions from the first test. The winners cut the wild boar clean in half, and the losers didn't, not even close. It made some kinda deep cuts but I dont think it even cut half way through the pigs stomach, whereas the winner chopped all the way through.
I really wanted the dummy test especially for the Japanese blades. Oh well.
Chi chan Right
i would be awesome indeed ! :(
Cing ciang ciung
But the wild boar carcass is THICC
I couldn't agree more with you
When Doug Said "Dave" at 5:43 i Heard "Babe" and almost choked on my Coffee o.O
You high xD?
Literally heard the same thing 😂😂
@@zaccatling3310 he said Dave in a deep voice so it sounded like babe lol
@@mattb7450 i know that's what I meant 😧
These two are some of the best smiths on this show ive seen so far
Braxton is my cousin lol. He is def the the best
Dave: " your handle is a little wide here for me"
Me: welp, he lost
I have a wooden board with a rusty nail in it. It will kill.
But it might not...KEEL.
My gun couldn't cut through a pig carcass. Guess it won't kill😭
@@privatebaldric8767 AK would boi
😂 lol man you crazy bro
I like how almost every participant on this show always stays calm and friendly
1:17 "It's hard, it's straight, and I just have such a sense of relief"
oohh oohhh ooohhh
thats what she said 😂😂😂
If guns were never made, I wonder how amazing sword practitioners and design would be.
Would swords even still be relevant? If guns weren't around, armor would still be. How far would body armor have evolved and what might have been developed to counter it?
@@ngcastronerd4791 Id say swords would still be relevant but we would have developed systems to multiply the force behind weapon strikes. (Rocket powered swords and hammers anyone)
@@DarkManSonian we'd probably be fighting with crossbows and melee would consist of spears with explosive tips.
Nope as long as armor would've still be around. They would've still be using the counter weapons to the armor.
Polearms, axes, warhammers, crossbows, maces, etc.
@@Wartooth91 don krieg style
The way braxton pronounced each piece of that sword shows he really appreciates that culture of bladesmithing
He is my cousin and he has been doing this since he was a kid. He started with making them out of duct tape lol
Braxton did well. That nagamaki is miraculous.
The dude smacked a branch right out of heat treat, seemingly without temper. And he's surprised it broke.
I don't love swinging a katana with its forward weight even with how beautiful they are, but that both of them were so amazing and the grace of the swinging has sold me on the nagamaki even from a lesser smith.
Maybe I can afford one if these performances haven't made the price shoot up.
Both blades performed equally.
MAKE ANOTHER BLADE.
No their not. The 2nd blade had a bigger handle then the parameter required. If it's had the right parameter, maybe it's Fair for them to compete with another weapon
@@rnkp_des
It was a joke, sir..
You lack brain cells?
@@BheemNationalist i through you're really mean it 😂
nah, just give them the swords and let them fight it out to decide who's the winner lol
永田利ょ他 woosh
4:16 this man is a pun master also
That pun flew over my head until i red this comment
4:29 when you find a stick and pretend to fight invisible ninjas
This guys made a historical weapon in 4 days, while me not being able to make my school project in 2 months
Doug also did an unfair comparison. He hit the boar in the stomach on the first one, and hit the boar across the ribcage and spine in the second one. No wonder the second one didn't cut in half.
It's a good day, when you get "it will keel" And "it khat" in one video.
9:41
Doug is always aware of Corona.
I recently started watching this and from all the competitions this was so far the closest one I've seen, both of these guys were champions. Big ups to both of them
I came here for the nagamaki. Ever since I heard of that weapon, been in love.
The Nagamaki really is a beautiful blade. Impressive.
Doug is always excited when it comes to Asian weapons
This is a pretty enjoyable episode. Ive always had a great interest in the nagamaki and its history. Unfortunately the art of using it has been extinct for over a century. But my teacher and i are working on recreating the lost martial art.
Any progress? Im interested in the nagamaki myself. The naginata is another reach weapon i want to get proficient in
That guy was actually smart enough too test it instead of just going YOLO
Anyone notice how he swung at the spine first for the second guy when trying to cut the boat in half instead of cutting from the stomach first like the first guy
Anyone cutting through an animal carcass should be spine first which makes it easier to cut through the softer parts. To say the first blade start with stomach and still cut that boar in half demonstrates how sharp that blade was.
@@kevemms facts.
One of the best competitors from forged in fire
1:17 THAT'S WHAT SHE SAID!!!
Lol
😂😂😂😂😂
Such a gorgeous weapon
Both Blade Masterpieces, nail-biting video had me on the edge of my seat!
"It will kill" man I love that dude!
the thing I like about this show is the judges are respectful to the contestants
red nagamaki has that curve all the way down
hella nice
Now this is a match I just love how both swords are great in every category, a worthy battle to watch.
Yes sure
This was really a tough competition both blade smiths did an awesome job.
First time I saw an amazing job for Japanese swords in this program. Both disserved to win.
This maybe the closest competetion here ever. Anyone who has an alternative please provide link
There was one more dude, they didn't ask the runner to surrender the blade as usual
There was one where two guys had to make a sword and it was so evenly match. Both completely made a thing of beauty.
Great weapon. Both deserved praise
Make more top shot episodes! Bring it back!
Both these guys were great
You proved you ARE the big guy!!!
Smith: „My blade is too heavy“
Doug: „...the lightness of your blade...“
I always watch this on tv and then on youtube i rewatch because i love this show so much.
I like how he says "your nagamaki will kyill"
When your playing a high graphic game while lagging and your custom character walks in the scene 9:50
That's some beautiful sportsmanship right there
I like this tests
Let's face it, the only reason we watch this is to hear doug say "it will KEAL!"
just here to see if it WEEL KEEL!!
Yes it weel keel lol
Your blade sir, WEEL KEEL.
weEl kEeL >:3
Overall sir... It weel cuttt
I love to see Naga Dao in action
Every other sword: Throw it under the moving tank!
Japanese sword: BAMBOO!
the best video in history
The "uuhhh" 6:12
It gives me an absurd amount of joy every time i hear "it will keel"
Doug did much better than I expected. Nagamaki are hard weapons to work with and his edge alignment was really good.
Can we appreciate the person who has to clean everything up after every episode
I'm satisfied that both the Nagamaki swords will KEEL😂
What a beautiful sword.
my man quenches his blade without a normalizing cycle or a temper and is surprised that it snaps. (harden without temper leaves the blade brittle like glass)
I was just about to ask the same thing, like why did you harden and go like "let's go hack at some stuff and see if it breaks" ffs of course it's gonna break, go throw it in the oven or something for a little while at 450° at least
@@tryzentv3316 i think he did that, but they cut that away because its "boring". bc he said the grain was pretty tight
Clean cut
I’m watching him slice the bamboo rods in slow motion and I can hear a utsu in real time.
Sir Alonne would be proud
Both of those blades were godly. They should be proud of what they made
I hope they got to keep those. Super well done
8:56 You can feel Doug wanted this one to under perform so they can make an easy decision
Love the way he say kill
Met jacob today! He was really chill, even got to touch his nagamaki!!!!!
the best weapon in the series
This is awesomeeeeeeeee
the one thing I like about this show, is the always pick the proper winner, based on who made the sword most like the original in the end, when it comes down to tight situations like this. I can really appreciate that, feels fair and honest.
I think this is the most excited and happy I've seen Doug Marcaida (Markaida?) over testing a weapon.
It will keel
Brospect Does lol i cringe so hard when he says that
yo don't make fun of my boy
I think they should have awarded them both this time...
One of the closest match in the show
Love seeing a long highlight because I then know nothing breaks and it goes all the way to the end.
So close. Both guys did a great job🙂👍
Put full episodes on
I love this show
Wow thats sharp
That's the mildest strength test I've seen them do.
Well, that's what those swords would be going up against, most Japanese warriors had 0 to little metal armour, mainly bamboo and leather
@@smallss7197 then again the judges sometimes like to smash the weapons against hard and thick pieces of wood, something that pretty much no sword could handle properly cuz humans have more give than a log
@@smallss7197 That's not entirely accurate. Japanese armor did include plates made of lacquered iron. The helmets and face guards too. Although there were a lot of leather components too. But a fun fact about the Nagamaki is that is was a "horse slayer" designed to be wielded against cavalry. So a better strength test would probably be to get some large cow or horse leg bones and try to cut them.
Doug is a real weapon master wielder
'Will kill' I love that 😁😀
He did really well though he lost .. great weapon 👍👍
That moment the tang gets glued to the handle instead of a pin like most traditional Japanese weapons
I just came here to see a Nagamaki cut, after an expert swordsman had a trouble handling it.
Skall I guess?
Somehow watching this takes most of my stress away from the online classes I have.
I used to own one of these, the balance is so hard to get right
Favourite show 👍👍👍
