This show stands out among all the other reality shows, it's just straight to the point, no drawn out fake drama, "tense" moments and other nonsense, just straight up swords
There’s some drama, which I don’t like, but I’m glad it isn’t overused. Enough for it to be a proper show.
I love it. I love that it's all about technical skill. Sometimes they try to make it more entertaining by adding a theme, which is fine, an acceptable way to spice things up.
It is a breath of fresh air compared to most other shows. Just dudes showing off their crafting skills with respect

I like how positive the jury is towards the smiths. Even if a sword fails they try to find the positives instead of rubbing in the failure.

Percy Jackson's sword is different though, anakalusmos or Riptide, it was hercules' sword (or Heracles less common Greek name). Whereas "the Perseus " used the harpe ,( if I am right, coz it's confusing af)

@@wxr2960 While the original Perseus did use a Harpe, it is a bit of a stretch to say that Riptide was Heracles’ weapon. If memory serves, It was a gift to Zoe from her mother that she allowed him to use, but was given up shortly after he escaped the garden.
And the PJO fan base will eat up anything and everything Greek Mythology related.
For the strength test, we'll be using your blades to cut a marble counter top into the proper dimensions for installation. Let's see how they hold up.

Well the test was more about what the stone does to the sword and not the other way around. Both the guys' swords did nothing but scratch the Stone Head's surface. The only reason the 2nd one got broken is probably because of a problem on casting the stone, it was probably a lot weaker on the neck and the force from the strike was enough to break it.
@@munchieemonch2881 i remember one competion head to head in every way keel test sharpness only one Differenz.... At the strength Test one blade held up perfectly and the other one to but also breaks the object so He lost with the sentence "because you where outperformed at the strength test"

Currently that sword in the past would be a legendary sword with many myths! 😅 also it would be one of the most strongest weapon in the battle field!
I know that the strength tests are supposed to be like the opposite of kill tests but I just love it when some weapons on the show are so sharp and powerful they can actually break the item used for the strength test

I can't stand Jamie's strength tests. I'm no smith, nor am I a blade master, but I can tell he has horrible form, puts WAY too much weight into his strikes, and performs tasks that the blades can imaginable way be realistically used. I hate seeing him desecrate the weapons contestants make.

@@LordangeloxD yes, I agree that the sword's durability is key, but sometimes Jay uses the swords in ways they're not supposed to be used, which of COURSE means they're probably going to break. Also, MOST times, whenever Jay hurts himself on a test, they blame the smith for making an ineffective weapon, when, no, Jay just sucks at swinging swords.

The way that second sword bounced off the Kraken head, I thought for sure Jay was done for. His attempt to dodge it looked like a post-script to an afterthought.

That's just a xiphos or gladius. Isn't it commonly accepted that Perseus held a harpē-a sickle combined with a sword? That would have been interesting to see.
It would have also been fun to see what inspiration they could've taken from its adamantine description.

Well one held up so.
Actually these strength tests are pretty reasonable. A few good whacks against a hard material to make sure that the blade won't snap, the tang is good, etc.
You don't want a weapon with a flimsy edge, brittle blade or tang, etc. in actual warfare.

Well swords go through alot through time of use , ofc you won't use the sword on thick barrels but if it can hold its own or almost in that test then it will be reliable to be durable in real battles
