Scotty is so excited he has another Toyota Celica to work on!!!
Would you sell your cat pillows for that car?
The California Edition 1995 Lexus SC400 is the fully loaded SC400, minus the heated leater seats. I have the original window sticker and it cost $52,995 back in 1995 and that is approximately $95,000 in 2019 dollars.
hey scotty, buy a bmw, I've got an 325i with 266k miles, still runs and drives like new.
The celica all wheel drive turbo is pretty rare
Scotty is so excited he has another Toyota Celica to work on!!!
Nothing to work on except routine oil & filter change.

Good luck finding one in good condition, let alone that's a convertible and reasonably priced.

You’re the #1 go to guy on CZcams to look for help fixing my own car. Saved around $2,000 so far fixing rack and pinion, finding vacuum leaks and other leaks in general along with a ton of other problems on other vehicles. You’re work is highly appreciated from myself and A LOT of others.

Scottys love for Toyota is coming back! The apocalypse isn’t as near as I thought it would!
It is not coming back!
He is taking about a 20 year old car.
Carlos Arias that’s not what I was talking about. Recently Scotty has been against Toyota and more for Honda in a love/hate relationship so I’m pointing it out as a funny way that he’s starting to love Toyota again. I know the Celica isn’t coming back.
Vyper hahahha
@@vyper1502 Scotty has always been a Toyota #1, Honda #2 guy. So that means he's gonna show love towards Honda too. Most mechanics feel the same way and there's a reason why used Toyotas have the highest resale value.

I had a brand new 1976 Celica GT, really a beautiful car IMO.
“ACTUAL GLASS!” I thought Scotty was gonna splooge himself the way he said that.

Hi Scotty!
Regardless that this is the earliest I've ever been to watch your video, I was actually unsure of your advice for the first time...until you said "even the cat likes it!"
Thanks for another great video, yes 99 Celica convertible is good buy!
Have a great weekend Scotty!
Scotty is the best car youtuber hands down.
Hi Scotty. I had both a 82 & 84 Celica, loved them both. I wasn't a great fan of the look of the one you're showing, but you've convinced me, if I can find one I'm getting one!
FWIW the 5th gen 90-93 is nearly identical mechanically. pop up lights are the only added issue. So for anyone looking at this you can do 5th or 6th gen and Scotty's comments still apply.
Remember Joe Isuzu? Scotty Toyota!

Hey Scotty , love the channel and your honesty. Unless I missed it , any chance of the MR2 history? A friend had one back in the day and was a fun little car. Thanks!
Finally, a video telling me something I CAN DO.
Scotty's starting to sound like a used car salesman. He’s fallen in love again with Toyota.
The Toyota mafia paid him a visit.
Toyota muscle: "Hey Scotty. We hear you've been... bad-mouthing the company. You used to be with us, Scotty! You used to be with us. Scotty: "Hey, let me make a new video."
He's just telling you the truth.
What you say makes no sense.... used car dealership just sell crap not good cars!
@John C. that's basically what you have to do at any job!
H M right? Like he literally explained how the build quality of Celicas went down the drain 2000 and after. I don’t know what video people these people watched lol
Yet again Scotty talks sense !!!!!!! Here in the uk these have started to really really increase in price so I am about to go and get one !!!!!!!!!!!
Thanks Scotty, I really enjoy your videos 😁👍
Thanks Scotty 😎
Too bad Scotty didn't tell me these were great in 1999.
I would have bought one and would probably still have it.
Do you even see one of these still on the streets anymore? You should be happy you dodged a bullet.
António Margalho no I don’t see these car around the streets anymore....but then when you live where I live they have all rusted away a long time ago. Now if I were in central Texas or Arizona that could be a different tale.
António Margalho I see them quite often around here. Also very clean ones too. Great cars
Antonio Margallo I see quite a few of them, sure they do rust a lot like most Toyotas
i had a 82 Celica with 2.4l . Great car, i drove to Florida and back so comfy. The driver seat had an air pump you squeeze to give lumbar support.
Just bought one yesterday, 1998 Toyota Celica GT Red convertible, one owner 79k miles , garage kept, top works like new, interior has no cracks, man did i get lucky completely stock and we’ll maintained mechanically, for only 4000$ . I can easily flip this car but just the rarity and unique of its condition I can’t picture letting it go . Best 4000$ ever spent

Man that alternator looks really easy to change! What a great car 👍🏻
They are! But the power steering, oh Dear God... I've contracted out for that one. Still, a great car. Doesn't need to be raised for oil changes. Many good points.
I did an alternator on this engine. Took 5 min
Yeah but when you change it, never get the remanufactured version in local auto parts store. Make sure its rebuilt in USA. The main wiring can also be worn from being right next to the exhaust manifold. I have a 5th gen convertible. This was my main issue with the car.
@@sleepyhollow783 but the power steering rarely breaks on one of these. I’ve seen them 25 years old, still original power steering pump. Good old hydraulic, unlike today’s electric power steering, where it’s a bunch of complex ELECTRICAL to go wrong. Old is gold in this case
Got me a 94 celica, its a great car!
I own a 2007 toyota solara convertible and am absolutely in love with it the engine is a a v6 camry but the way it looks the way it corners and the interior is amazing reminds me of this car
Hey Scotty, Love your videos and the honesty of what you share. I have been trying to find a coolant leak issue on my mother's 2008 ford focus automatic with 79,000 miles for almost 2 years now. I took it to a mechanic when the check engine light came on and gave a bad thermostat code, electronic thermostat so I didn't want to mess with it. The car seems to erratically lose coolant, it will be fine for weeks at a time and then overnight it loses a gallon of coolant, no puddles or signs of a leak, I have replaced the cap, and the thermostat was replaced but neither one fixed it. Even after driving the car for 40 minutes and the gauge showing normal temperature, the cap is cool and can be removed without any spraying of coolant which would indicate there is a pressure leak but I have no clue where it may be. The passenger's floor remains dry which I have suspected maybe heater core but nothing wet there. the car does not have water in the oil and there are no signs of coolant being burned at the exhaust. The check engine light is off. This car has been a piece of crap, The ignition went bad and I had to rig up a push-button ($5) start because the issue is in the column and costs a few hundred bucks to fix, park quit working and they said the transmission needed replacing to fix it but the car shifts just fine in all gears, then the emergency brake handle broke, the button for release just flew out of the end, and I had to replace that for parking purposes. Do you have any ideas on why the coolant keeps disappearing without any signs of leaking or burning and how I might be able to find the issue? My mother has limited income and would like to make the car last another 100 years. Sorry for the long comment but I wanted to make sure you didn't suggest anything I already did short of sending it to the crusher as it runs fine and drives fine except for the loss of coolant erratically happening.
I knew you wouldn't resist making a show off video of this beauty!!
3:37 LOL Celica Gave you quite a scare there huh Scotty
Keep up the good vids
Scotty is in love! The best way to Scotty's heart is a red 6th gen Celica with manual transmission.
that really is a nice looking car a great choice!
Nice video! The cat stole the show 🤷♂️
Scotty you should do a video on the Celica GT4 All Trac Turbo from the 90s, it was a rare but cool car.
Hey, Scotty. Any input on 2014 Toyota Corolla LE? I really appreciate your videos.
I have celica 2000 gts and I've only had to replace the clutch after 100K miles which was last year. other than that, i've had no issues with the Engine. with regular maintenance and it should last a lot more years to come.
Which engine? I think he only mentioned the 1.8 as having problems. Personally I really like the 7th gen with the GT kit on it. The spoiler and skirts are really cool.
@@richardm5664 1.8 2zz-GE I believe. it's the GTS. It's a quick car and gives great gas mileage as long as you take care of it.
My family owned two 90's Celica convertibles growing up, a 92' and 96'. I learned to drive on the 92'... That generation with the pop up headlights is still one of my favorite cars of all time. Try and find an AWD All-Track to review!
1) One of my mechanics at work has that exact Celica drop top, and he can’t say enough good things about it either
And 2) omg Scotty I just love your cat, her walk-ons are my favorite part of your driveway videos
I just bought a '95 black GT convertible. The pictures were really interesting. It's got a Mocha colored leather interior (after market, obviously), a Pioneer 8 speaker hands free stereo, brand new top, nearly new tires, new water pump and timing belt, heater core....etc. I couldn't get a bead on the value. He was asking less than $8k, I offered him @ 7. He took it. I even brought a true Toyota guy with me. He builds MR2s. He was blown away. It's not home yet, I will be able to pick it up soon!
I saw that one for sale. Looked nice but is was an auto unfortunately.
Woohoo! I had the same exact car!! 260k when i sold it! By far best car i ever had!! Hmmm
Scotty! I own this car in the '96 model. Same car with the same Barcelona red, only difference is it's a 4-speed manual transmission. Got it for $2800 -- think I got a good deal!
@I'm David Hasselhoff and possibly more expensive as it got older, since 6 has more parts that could wear out.
That 5th gear really saved cylinder heads. Drive it 70+ on the interstate long enough in 4th gear, and the head gasket will eventually start leaking.
@@gg5115 Good to know
I'm so excited, going to buy one in black tomorrow with 90,000 miles!

ayy yo scootty i just paid $4,000 for a 2006 grand marques ls with 53,000 miles . IT IS CLEAN just wanted to brag.

@@andyespinal78 Not too much money if he drives it another 300,000 miles! The low maintenance will more than compensate.
I knabbed a 1990 Oldsmobile Toronado Troféo for $275 2 years ago. Ive been driving it around as a second car ever since. Just have a few issues to take care on it. But it too is clean af. No rust, 111k. Its awesome.

I I just purchased one for $300. It needs paint as it faded. Manual 5 speed. Runs like a champ. I put new tires. Tune up and oil change. I am in love with it and it’s red in color with 183,000 miles. Was parked for over 15 years . Top works when it wants to but overall it’s a joy to drive.

I personally love the design of the 7th gen Celica. Also, I sold my Celica gt for a gts and that 2zz engine is awesome. As long as you don't rev it too much over the redline and don't try to take corners at 100+mph, it's a really fun, nice looking, cheap, reliable car with good gas mileage.
Nice. My 1st car was a 76 Celica GT. Wish I still had it.

BEST VEHICLES TOYOTA MADE ARE 1970-1994 TOYOTA PICKUPS🤘 CHANGE MY MIND
I loved my 95, end of the line before tacos started in 95 1/2.
Carlos - My first vehicle was a 1993 Toyota pickup, regular cab 4x4 5 speed with the 22RE 4 cylinder, a very basic little truck but it was tough! No horse power but tons of low end torque , I was in high school and took that truck places some guys wouldn’t take their 4 wheelers! I loved it!
You are so right. Much of it boils down to not only quality but the simplicity of the truck. Less moving parts, less stuff to go wrong. Not to mention, the 1987 Toyota 4x2 truck people paid $1,500 for in 1998, is selling for $2,500 or more today with 300k miles on it! lol
How about the 99 Tacoma with that v6

But don't forget Scotty's wife's lexus, it was only 3 grand! Those are the two main lessons to learn here on Scotty's channel! :)
Only get the 6th or 5th generation.
Got a 7th generation 2002 Celica GT and coming up to 300K. Not sure what Scotty is going on about. Still get compliments about the sporty looks.
if you want a 7th gen that's bulletproof get a Celica GT 2003-2005 with or without Automatic transmission or an Automatic Celica GTS any year. 2000-2002 Celica GT often burns oil and GTS engine blows up because of human error when going over the redline in a manual transmission.
@behexen250 hes talking about Celica Gts with weak oil pumps that break when you over revv it in the manual. blows up due to human error. I got 2004 gt auto Celica with 119000 miles a bit chip on the hood but everything is clean.
That's a great looking Celica! I have a 94 GT with the 3SGTE turbo swapped from a 1995 Japanese MR2. I also had a 1994 Celica with the manual transmission and the 5SFE engine you're talking about. I loved that engine! It wasn't super crazy scary fast like the 3SGTE but it did the job and was really reliable. That Celica got rear-ended by a pizza delivery driver and totaled. I took lots of parts off it but eventually had to scrap the car including scrapping the 5SFE engine and manual transmission. I hated doing that because the engine probably still had 100,000 miles or more left in it.
You're killing me, Scotty! Watched your video on the 2012 Camry, now there's one in the driveway (36K miles, pristine condition). My wife would LOVE this Celica....I'm scared to show her the one I found for $3500.....

Hi Scotty. Always enjoy your videos. I'm from New Zealand. Bought a Toyota Vista year 2000. Had it for the last 3 years. It ran OK for the first couple of years then all kinds of problems - faulty oxygen sensor, clogged intake manifold, dirty air filter & more. It used to judder & jerk badly at freeway speeds. Finally found a mechanic who knew what was wrong. I thought it was fixed but now the "econ" symbol, instead of flashing on intermittently, is staying on permanently. What this means is that if I'm waiting for the lights at a busy intersection, instead of a smooth, steady idle the revs drop as if it's going to stall, causing some anxiety! Do you think it's a simple fix or should I be looking to buy a different car? I'm kind of fed up with this one. Is the new Corolla OK? What's your opinion about the Suzuki Swift? I'm guessing your advice might be a '99 Celica! Hope you are well. Bye for now.

I must admit, I'd never looked at Toyotas, luxury cars and all other brands of cars the way I do now, after watching your videos lol. however, I've always known Ford to be the best out of America's "Big 3" due to quality and reliability! There's hardly any Fords, just sitting up in used car dealerships like, Chevys and Dodges, because they're still out on the roads, running like they've, just came out of the factory.
My favorite celica was 1976-1977
liftback . With headers on it where emissions allowed it.
The clutch master cylinders had issues until ones made in 7/1977 and after.
