What about a Porsche boxster if the ims bearing has been replaced is it reletively reliable
Hey Scotty male a video about the best reallyyyy fast cars.
@@16driver16 only get a boxster if its got a front engine swap lol
All right the little electrician was milling around that Cayman. I was wondering where he was. I guess as the weather gets cooler he'll start parking his butt on the hood of a car thats just been driven, that and your not using the fan.
Speaking of expensive suspension parts, it’s not just Porsche. GM’s “magnetic” suspension is also VERY expensive!!

Sarthak Suman lol yes African American actually and I always had to change the radiator cuz she would always had hot temper
Wild coincedence... Japanese girls are pretty low maintenance... but unlike a Corolla, they're not boring 😉. I know from experience.
But they are hard to come by... not sure if there are any Japanese girls left in the states...
Better than my Ex. Apparently everybody was taking her for a ride.

Luxury cars:
If you can't afford to buy a new one, you definitely can't afford a used one.
No kidding. Funny how things have changed in just two years. Not funny.
the vast majority of the time that does seem to be the case, or if you can afford it it probably has >200,000 miles. however there are some deals to be found if you look hard and get lucky
My dad used to be brutally honest with people, some wanted to crawl under a rock and die. But, he was the only mechanic who could fix their disasters so even if they quit coming they’d eventually come back and put up with his lecturing about their car choices or poor driving that was ruining their cars.
Sounds like he was the mechanic equivalent of Dr. House.
Someone is out there watching this right after buying one of these thinking, "But maybe, just maybe mine is different.."
Lmao

Going on 300k miles with my 8 year old Audi Q7 TDI and it's been amazing. Only the blower has gone out on it and it was $53.

I’m a female and I’ve been watching Scotty for couple years now. Scotty, you have taught me so much on working on my car ( not the engine area.) I have a 07 Honda CR-V with 149k on it. Bought it with 121k. You taught me how to clean out my fuel system, how not to change my transmission fluid but do the filter. Explained it in another video. So many other things I’ve done and also my parents car. Some mechanics see a couple of older grey hairs coming into there shop they take advantage of them. Glad to do things myself. Keep vids coming In. I love it!!!
haha cute, barbie picture.
There's a transmission filter? Who knew.
Great keep it up
no one cares that you're a womam
In my experience mechanics will take advantage of you no matter what, unless you show them you have car knowledge. I know it happens a lot more to women but it's happened to me a couple times as well because I don't really know much about cars.
It's hard to find an honest mechanic!
What I love about Scotty he's not scared to step on toes to let the consumer to beware and gives an honest and non-bias opinion , honesty in the automotive field is rare thank you Scotty keep it up love your product reviews also

My favorite bumper sticker of all time was on the back of a Jaguar: "Every part falling off of this car is of finest British craftsmanship"
“I love daddy’s money” lol
The one I liked was on the back of the land cruiser: " life's too short to spend it fixing land rover".

Who would put a bumper sticker on a Jag?

I absolutely love this guy! My dad was co-pit crew chief for a Nascar team when I was a kid. So, yea, safe to say I have been around cars and car people my entire life. Mr. Kilmer is not only accurate but So very entertaining. Keep it up!!!!!
Everytime I see a Range Rover pass by I wonder how long it has been on the road since its last repair.
Lol
Me too!
Every time I see one I hear Scotty saying "Hope you leased it !"
Here's my story: 1990 Range Rover classic 90k miles. My phather bought it for 3k 4 years ago. The clutch cylinder went twice. When I started working on it last april I changed the air filter, the oil filter, put new oil on it, the speakers were rotten and the one on the passenger side just fell down. The front suspension was lose and didnt work. The springs and the shock abosrbers need replacement. The steering pump was leaking, so were the diferentials and the transfer case. And recently the muffler fell out because it was worn out
I'm totally the same... Jags too... I see more of them on flat beds than on the road.
I’ve been told Jaguars accumulate more vertical mileage from going up and down on the mechanics hoist than mileage on the road.
@Jon C LOL for real
Great nod to Rodney Dangerfield.
Lol jaguars are complete garbage and now that the Indians own them, they're even worse than when the Brits owned them. I knew a guy with a brand new f -pace and it had less than 5,000 mi on it and it had cooling system problems. The cars are complete garbage.
@@djs18 my boss bought a new 2 dr coupe in 95. He had problems with it about 3 mos in and took it to the dealer. Turned out worse than he imagined, some snafu in the radiator allowed engine coolant to get into the transmission and transmission fluid to get into the engine! They replaced pretty much the whole powertrain and radiator.(under warranty) His wife had an 88 4dr "van den plas" at the same time, it was in the shop about once a month. But they loved them, they really were different from any car on the road with the quality of the leather and wood. I will say Ive never driven a car that felt so safe in the rain as her 4 dr. Downpour with an inch of standing water? 85 mph solid as a rock.
@George Ohm If you say so.... you punk
The 1982 Dodge Aries....at least it satisfied your urge to drive a giant rectangle.
My 07 Cayman S after 15 years are still going strong and had no problems apart from regular routine maintenance at my Porsche dealer every 2 years at a somewhat high price. Biggest expense so far was new Pirellis every 9000km.

I Purchased a Certified 2015 Audi A3 2.0t Quattro (43k miles) in 2017 .. for $19900 .. great fun fast car best interior in its class hands down. First year warranty unlimited miles included and I personally included the first 4 services with my payment. The battery and radiator where replaced in that first month by Audi. Nothing else broke in the 3 years of ownership.Due to keeping it certified. The expensive 50k and 75k services where done by Audi. I wasn’t affected at all financially because it was already included in my low monthly payment. I traded it in with 77k and Audi gave me $14k for it and I owed $9k. It’s all about being smart and doing your homework before a purchase. I replaced it with a 2020 Audi A4 2.0t Quattro Prestige. With the same type of deal but now I have the full factory warranty. I’m not at all a rich man. It’s all about doing your homework.. and getting that warranty. Just my two cents. Keep up the great work bud you have great content 👍🏼
I had an 85.5 Porsche 944. An absolute blast to drive. I could take any exit ramp at 75 mph. To put a clutch in, it was pull the engine, put a $700 clutch in and then no kidding, 8hrs to bleed the hydrolic clutch system.
I'm glad I got out of that money pit
I always wondered why I never see Jaguars on the road.

Love my Audi A4 quattro. Will never drive anything but an Audi. If you take care of it and get everything replaced when you should you're way ahead of the game. When you tell a mechanic you're getting an Audi they say, "I'm sorry." When you tell an Audio owner they'll tell you how much they love their car.

used luxury and exotic cars are cheap for a reason, the owner wants to get rid of it for a low price so you can take care of the problems they refuse to fix

I’m thrilled to hear someone telling the TRUTH and not caring what people and corporations think. BRAVO!

Another truth is; YOU CANT AFFORD ANY OF THOSE CARS (which is ok though) 🙂
People that buy Audi, Mercedes and BWM are superficial people, that care about people thinking of their perceived status. While many of know well that those people are lacking mental capacity to realize the stupidity in buying poorly engineered cars that break down and make them poor.

and the "X-series" cars aren't even that capable of a utlilty vehicle! Maybe that's why BMW calls them Sports ACTIVITY vehicle, not sports UTILITY vehicle.. And they drive like a tank! super heavy feel, and seems top heavy too... ROLL OVER please! HAHAHAHA
I see x5's all the time on craigslist. They are SUPER FANCY but often sell for about 3k
No Range Rover? Especially in Houston I’ve seen more Range Rovers than most of the other cars on the list, especially Jaguar. Houstonians love Range Rovers.
Yes, I have a Lexus RX 400h and love it. Thinking of getting another one too.
Scotty is the Rodney Dangerfield of car repair. Love this guys videos.
With full disclosure, I've bought several on this list. I now have a honda.
Refus same here. Audi A4 Quattro. Mercedes ML 350. Happily riding an accord with zero problems now
i hope its not a cr-v
😂😂😂😂
..........
Ranger 98, extremely reliable.
😂 yep, just get an Accord with a V6 and all leather👌
Thank you Scotty! This was a great lesson in how IMAGE, MARKETING, PERCEPTION AND A VERY HIGH PRICE can have very little to do with actual quality.
Thank you for the informative and educational videos - much appreciated.
Yes Scotty's right. Bought an Audi once. That car broke down if you looked at it wrong. Horrible.
Watching Scotty can save you more money than shopping at Walmart for a few years.
10:51 the cat stole the show lol
he's trying to take the car
He's trying to get out of earshot 🙉
This guy is proof that just because you have a CZcams channel it doesn’t mean you know what you’re talking about. I’ve owned every brand he’s discussing here and also own several exotic cars. Case in point - once had a guy quote me over $12,000 for a “transmission rebuild”, on a Ferrari, when all I needed was a $200 clutch cable (inclusive of install). Some people are not cut out to be auto mechanics. Disservice to everyone who deals with them.
This guy's got a point with the Cayman, at least with older models 987. I recently bought a 981 Cayman with 65k miles. Now it's going on 74k miles and I drive the heck out of it. Full throttle no stoping, launching and all sorts of stuff. Has not failed me once . I mean just running from Kyle tx to SA tx 110 down 35 south and not heating up. I'll admit earlier models have there issues but with the newer models they barely have and issue. Just gotta do research on which models are notorious for repairs
Why isn't my wife in this list
LMAO
perhaps he hasn't finished the test drive yet?
@@bcgreen7479 🤣😂🤣
@De Sign Scotty's has an automatic, but he prefers manuals.
She charges me $200.
Is that expensive?
“It’s a fine luxury money pit, if you like money pits” 😂😂😂
🤣🤣🤣🤣
Kai facts 😂
Hey cutie
Dave Houston hey
Le Matt 😂
you're awesome Scotty, always enjoy your video, good info as always. you're the best and it's fun to watch you and i like your honesty.
Scotty- I always look forward to your new videos!! Thank you for the reality check!!
Scotty, I work for nissan, and I still love to watch you !! Best entertainment on CZcams !!
I absolutely love how you describe every car here as a money pit, then burst out laughing as if to say to the people who actually have these cars, “you really chose poorly”
One thing is that Scotty is very truthful and won’t steer you wrong.
I work for a German owned company. The owner had two identical Mercedes. Someone asked "why two?" and he said "So I have something to drive while one is in the shop."
@Asimzmn Hey, look everyone, it's "that guy...."
It's an old joke that was used a lot with Jaguar. Common, come up with something original, or keep quiet.
@Asimzmn Bingo :))
Lmao
Scotty Boy is one of the most entertaining mechanics I've seen on YT. His yodling at 8:33 is hilarious!
Hey, I'm a 70 yr old fe. Motorhead all my life. love learning from Scotty.
I changed the waterpump on my Porsche Cayman S & can confirm you don't have to drop the engine like scotty says. I also changed the alternator, it was a PIA.. but it did take me "only" 2 hours to remove and install and it's accessed through a hatch behind the seats. (so I also didn't have the drop the engine). belts and pulleys also accessed thru the hatch and it took me less than 1/2 hour to do change these.. if I had to do it again it would probably be 20 mins as I'm past the initial learning curve.
Yup, he’s probably going based off Porsche dealership or repair manual procedures which are overkill. I don’t have one but a buddy does and it has been damn reliable and he tracks the car.
I also believe that the Cayman is actually a very reliable cars. On Forums and most reviews the Cayman, particularly the 981 gets great ratings.
