  • French tv commentary as Kevin Bowring's Welsh side pushed a French team that would go on to win the grand slam that season all the way, and scoring the highest number of points by a Wales team at the Parc Des Princes for over 20 years in the process. Following the IRB's decision to allow the game to go professional two years earlier many of the players who'd gone 'north' and were lost to Wales in the early 90s - Alan Bateman, Scott Gibbs, Scott Quinnell, David Young and Jonathan Davies - had returned to Wales, with all of them featuring in this game.

This was such a great game thanks for posting. That era of rugby just after the dawn of professionalism was the best in my opinion

Great video. I was pretty down on Wales in those days, but we actually were a bit unlucky in this tournament. Should have beaten Ireland and pushed France close here (although they were a great side). Parc des Princes atmosphere was something special. Looked terrifying to play in for an away team!

Difficult to find 5 Nations French home games on CZcams with English commentary. Must be rights issues as French TV held rights to these matches and BBC had rights to Eng/Scot/Wales/Ireland home games up to 1998 tournament when Sky had England home games and IIRC French home games.
