Welcome to the 3D Printing community...Where we solve problems that either don't exist or have already been solved with a way less complicated solution. lol
I would love to see more practical prints around the studio! Even just short videos like this would be wonderful
More to come!
I now know more than I did five minutes ago. Because now I know about Kaiser. Thanks, Joel!
Learning stuff AND 3d printing? It's PERFECT!
You're right, Joel; we don't deserve them. But I'm awfully glad they put up with us. Thanks for teaching me about Kaiser.
Functional prints are one of my favorite things, and there are many definitions of practical.
EXACTLY!
Ah Dude! "We don't deserve dogs" No doubt! Choking up a bit here remembering how amazing my dogs have been over the years. Better people than most human beings.
I love to see you have your own proper shop in its rough shape. I wish you nothing but the best
Thank you!!😊
I love everything about this video. It is awesome when 3D printing can solve a practical issue such as this. Bonus for the mini history lesson as well. Thanks for posting!!
Couldn't agree more!
you're awesome too joel. thank you for the sharing
YOU are awesome!
The product placement for Kettle crisps was effective.
there was a chip clip file I found a very long time ago that I still print many of, and still have. The first ones I made out of some bright yellow PLA, are still in use today, 4 years later! A few have gone through the dishwasher by accident, one survived, the other time didn't (top rack it survived, but in the silverware rack it didn't). Its a simple one that uses the tension of the plastic to keep it clamped shut, very strong and some are starting to lose their...chomp after so long.
Love this video just back to the roots simple
Awesome print !!! thanks for the Kaiser info as well ! Happy Extruding , and continued success !
Love a good clip, definitely need to print more!
You should!
What an awesome evolution to your content!
Printed one of these the other week on my a1 mini. Printed pretty good but takes some time to loosen it up and break it in so just be patient working everything in if yours does not freely move very well
is the audio slightly delayed for anyone else?
Learn something, Every.Single.Day!!
I need to get spool that high five blue! I love proto just so expensive!
love a practical print 👌
are there any 3d printers that will print hemp bottles for mass production ? thanks and what should i be aware of. thankyou for sharing your time and knowledge very kind and generous of you, i wish you the best
Kaiser = King… for anyone who didn’t already know that.
Actually Kaiser means emperor...
Love these short stint videos, especially for "wait, I need to do a thing".
Best Doggo.. Great Flavor chips... By far... I would have used the slicer to cut away the upper half then printed them... Thanks for he useful and tasteful knowledge
Thanks for watching!
Oh cool, you have an official lunch break room and a Kaiser Clip
Fun Fact: A pigeon, who had been injured in combat, was responsible for saving the lives of HUNDREDS of soldiers in WWI. The pigeon's name was Cher Ami.
I love practical prints, and videos I learn from and can be inspired by. Now what could I do with print in place cams?
I can’t believe you can function without a coffee machine in that break area. Is that even legal?
Working on it!
The fridge is probably full of RedBull :D
@@sintoxic well, Red Bull AND Arizona Arnold Palmers!
Thank you! Appreciate your CAM based clip video. Need something like this to help quick release a part of a build am trying to get done for RMRRF. Cheers!
Now I want chips!
You and me both
Oh. So it's like a clothespin but more difficult to use and more expensive.
Great clip 👍
I'm working on a similar design using cams and they are great for pip applications.
Heck yeah they are!
My favorite is the Dino-Clip Mechanical CAM Chip-Clip (PRINT-IN-PLACE)
nice Joel nice little tips
"Took apart so that we can see how it works" - this is the new explanation for "broke the damn thing whilst trying to free it?"
… maybe;)
I applaud you alone on the idea that you opened a kettle chip bag without tearing it right down the side. They put a starter cut at the top of those that direct s straight down into the bag. It's almost like they want you to fail. But you persevered and opened the bag cleanly. 🎉🎉🎉
Oh believe me, DOZENS of bags have been ripped down the side. Heh.
Goes to show you that practice makes perfect!
Great video! I like the around-the-shop content.
Thank you!
Kettle crisps! yum yum!
Super tasty!
Hard to see a blue filament model on a blue hoodie background. 😅
Oh crap hahaha.
Neat.
Joel! We seen you on the live last night! Not sure why they had Reds on there the entire time. I thought they would have talked to a lot other creators.
I don't understand the idea of saving chips for later
Funny I'm eating chips while I watch this and I was just wondering where my printed Dino chip clip is.
What KIND of chips???
Just use a rubber band after you roll up the bag.. 😂
WHAT?????
I have a hanging green PETG crocodile that holds my coffee machine rag, it needs a cam though
I mean, it really should. Heh
Kettle cooked Chips are best chips
YES. YUM.
Alex from France actually doesn't like kettle style chips. Just wanted to put it out there
As much as I like print in place stuff, seems like this could have been done in a much smaller package and faster print if it just incorporated a metal spring which aren’t hard to get these days.
Perhaps? Design and I’ll try to print it!
Make sure you stop by my table at RMRRF so you can meet two of our samoyed puppies in service dog training. :)
Make sure I do!
It's the long-awaited second installment of the 3D Printing Nerd Chip Clip series!
Will this become a full trilogy? I don't know, but nostalgia has driven me to rewatch the first part: czcams.com/video/fkTCNT-1sJ8/video.html
I find this completely over-engineered for a bag clip. I made one that you just slip over. No moving parts at all.
That requires a bit of flexibility, but it works just fine in PLA.
And you can probably print ten or more with the material one "Kaiser" clip needs.
But an interesting mechanical solution nonetheless. :}
Aww shoot, and here I was thinking I need even MORE engineering in my chip clip! :)
@@3DPrintingNerdI mean, if it's fun, more power to you!
Just not my idea of a practical application. ;-)

2hrs!!! Wow prusa is not setting records lol
Nope, not on my 6 year old machines.
It’s funny that the bag of chips was empty and filled with another bag to make it look full of chips 😂 yeah I’m sad enough to of noticed that lol
Although I certainly honor the memory and service of Kaiser, I seriously doubt he was the first KIA.
The printables listing says "the first killed in Vietnam" I searched google for the first working dog killed in Vietnam, and it is confirmed by both official and unofficial sites.
Quote from K9 Vetrans Day, 2023: "Kaiser was one of 4,000 dogs who served in the Vietnam War, and his handler was Marine Lance Corporal Alfredo Salazar. They did over 30 combat patrols and participated in 12 major operations. In 1966, they were ambushed by the Viet Cong while on patrol after they joined “D” company for a search-and-destroy mission. Kaiser was hit and died in the initial contact while trying to lick Salazar’s hand. Kaiser was the first war dog killed in action in Vietnam.
@@kensmith174 - Yeah; I was just thinking what about WWII? WWI? Korea? The Civil War? etc... Vietnam seemed awfully late for first KIA ever.
Nonetheless, for all of our service members of any species (human or K9) who have laid down their lives in the line of duty:

I did some more research. Apparently the first US Military k9 program was started in 1942, during WW2. Any dogs used before then would have been unofficially procured. Like "Stubby", the most decorated war dog ever, bulldog in ww1.
The first official k9 killed in action was Kurt. A Doberman killed in Guam by a Japanese mortar in WW2.
There's a simpler solution to this problem: eat all the chips.
Hmm. Tell me more.
@@3DPrintingNerd if the bag is empty then no need to clip it closed 🤤
Their Pickle flavor is better!
It's cool, a bit over engineered
OR, hear me out, needs MORE engineering.
You ok Joel? Seems a little down.
Oh yeah I’m good. Much better since being in this space. Just was a little tired recording this :)
@@3DPrintingNerdGood to hear. thought that might be the case but wanted to be sure. We care about you!
Hmmmmm. Almost practical. In two hours that bag will be empty anyway. haha
Pretty much!
Lies.. it's all lies... nobody leaves chips in a bag. :p
That’s a very good point heh
It’s a chip bag. They’re empty. Always. Makes a clip kind of pointless.
neat quick video, very nice
Hey, thank you!
Was it because the dog grabbed on and never let go unless ordered to? 🤔 Sounds like me with Big B 🫂
