Unnecessary Inventions is the brainchild of product designer Matty Benedetto, where he designs & builds 2-4 brand new products each week that solve problems that don't exist. - Zábava
How long until we have a chocolate 3d printer made from chocolate 3d printer parts? 😂 So good, and Ellie is a genius for designing it!
Well, I've printed a VORON part on it. Does that count? 🤣
"you done fixing that chocolate 3d printer?" "nah it melted in my hand"
God this would be perfect for detail adding to cakes.
I'll start planning for my birthday next January.
@@UnnecessaryInventionsi dont mean to alarm you, but you're an adult
No-one can stop you from buying a whole cake to eat by yourself.
You dont have to throw a birthday party either. Or any party at all.
You can just... go to the store and buy one.
Its not illegal.
Your stomach might rupture from eating an entire cake by yourself, but you can just do it.
@@MrMoron-qn5rxYeah but that's boring.
Wait actually??? He is???
@@UnnecessaryInventions Look up 'sugar 3d printer' and you'll find everything from homebrew setups that melt sugar with hot air or lasers to the CURRANT, a 3d printer that uses a bed of ultra-fine sugar and an inkjet head to produce full-colour 3d objects that are completely edible.
Cheers!
$1500 and you have to supply the parts?! Absolutely unreal.
Thats what i thought! You could think its just because it has a too limiteded Target group, but if everyone just pritnts their own parts and uses almost all generic 3D printer parts, this doesent make sense!
I was thinking that too 😂 more expensive then alot of printers but you have to have one before you can use this, too new but nice idea that will surely get upgraded
its used to be a kickstarter so if i had to guess they JUST made the complete design i would expect them to start making parts soon
@@keys1711regardless, that is ridiculously priced
I know right!
Actually 3D printing chocolate was one of the first ever 3D prints ever done. Chocolate is easy to melt, print & cool till harden. It’s been around since the early 2000s
3:35-3:37 sick transition🍫
I am a true time traveler.
Heres a question: could you reload your failed pieces back into the printer, melt them, and reuse them to mske a bew print?
duh
It's all just tempered chocolate, so yes, it'd be possible even if it's not explicitly stated.
@@LTR3309 I wouldn't say duh because it would be possible that the design requires a full cylinder, or if it isn't tempered it could be break or possibly other issues.
I'd think so - you can also break down some of the other cylinders of chocolate if it's not filling the printer tube as well.
@@UnnecessaryInventionsif you can break down the chocolate cores, are you able to add other tempered chocolates?
Asking because food allergies
Each chocolate core is £4. Presumably you're locked in to buying the cores from them
can't you just print a mould 🧍
Or you make a mould with food safe resin or food safe silicone and just temper some chocolate and put it in there ;)
Isnt it possible to just melt some chocolate into the core? And if that doesnt work, cant you 3d print a tube that you can use to cool your own cores in? The quality might be poorer, but nothing would stop you right?
Nope, you can create your own cores and use whatever chocolate you want!
@@3DPrintingNerdI thought the press used a special kind of chocolate. Is it easy to get?
Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs
I remember that movie
I remember that movie 🎦 😂
I remember that movie
I remember that movie
I remember that movie
THIS IS NECESSARY
It's not necessary if you put the chocolate bar
Actually, you can eat the parts off of a regular 3D printer, just rarely more than once.
Seriously though, that printer looks like a lot of fun.
No you can’t unless it’s chocolate
@@KadeStringer2.0No, you can. Once. You’ll die.
Challenge accepted
@KadeStringer2.0 You can eat EVERYTHING…….. once ;)
Lol
I think you have to print an edible piece for your coffee table with this.
Notttttt aaaa baddd iddeaaaaa
@@UnnecessaryInventions wile your at it how about making a mini version of the table out of chocolate
I know were all here for the awesome cocoa press sweetness but that large Monstera Plant you have is looking so good! Eating up all that natural light
And that it came with a self watering pot that I only have to water once a month or that thing would be dead dead dead lol
This is amazing. Imagine pausing prints to fill the print up with praline cream or sprinkles or anything, would be ballin’
YESSSS! So happy you got one!!
I too eat all my failures.
I bought one. Well, I bought the parts for one. It's not fully assembled yet.
It sat in my studio for a month and a half or so until I mustered up the determination to tackle building it.
@@UnnecessaryInventions Delivered Nov. 23. 😂
Chocolate croc gloves! I legit thought that would be the direction you'd go.
You should try pausing the 3d print and adding a filling like, caramel, or peanut butter.
Man it is always cool when you see someone who built their vision, and made it happen. I remember when you first got started. I think I may have seen you on Reddit. Maybe it was YT though. Anyway to see what you have built, and seeing how hard you worked is really inspiring. I remember when you don't have all these gadgets and stuff. Man, well done dude. Good for you. You had a vision and you made it happen.
You should definitely try printing a scaled down 3d scan of your head lmao
I was thinking about it but I thought I’ve used that’d STL a few too many times lol
@@UnnecessaryInventions yah that's fair lol
Cool! Does it come with different colours too? I guess you could by sacrificing one chocolate tube/cylinder to make a mood in resin and use food colouring on the white chocolate. Also I think it’s cool because instead of eating then you can just melt it back into that mood if you don’t like it. 5:42
Bro, please post more often, I love your content. 🙏
imagine printing a whole mini 3d printer with that
I love how active you are in your comment section. Also when will you start releasing more long form video's. I understand it takes a long time to make them but I need more. And love your video's.
you finally posted a video and when i saw this vid i was so happy cause you haven't posted in like 4 months and that is too long to not post
Please, please do a chocolate puzzle piece for the puzzle table.
3:35 was the most smooth transition I have ever seen😊😮
Make a Thicc milk chocolate mug and fill it with hot milk to make hot chocolate (or almond milk if you’re lack toes intolerant).
lack toes intolerant🤣🤣
thank you for making me laugh
How would he be lactose if he ate a piece kf milk chocolate its in the name milk
Can you do an invention using the Cocoa press? Idk what it would be but it would be cool
This would be great for a cake decorating business.
Can you do a follow up video or let us know how much chocolate is used for different designs?
Cocoa Press is from here in Philly. I talked with them at ERRF in September.
New Technology: I made a 3D printer with a 3D printer
Its all fun and games until you run out of chocolate
Adds a new twist to the idea of eating one’s failures
I wonder if there is a mold for the 3d print chocolate filament so you can put your favorite chocolate brand on to whatever you print
Make pt2. With white chocolate please:)
Hey why don't you buy a PLA heater and shredder for repurposing your failed prints?
Well ya know, probably 3-4 months ago I started a PLA failure/scrap box instead of throwing them out. I’ve been meaning to give something like that a go.
@@UnnecessaryInventions Yeah I know the product after isn’t the most high quality but still throwing it out just sucks and if you do I’d love to see it :)
this is honestly so cool
1500 dollars to buy and you still need to have another 3D printer to be able to finish the build that you even have to build yourself? Hard pass.
Everything is edible if you don't care about dying
Love you matty❤
How did you make those Timelapse’s of the Bambu Lab printers? I want a better camera for my printer for the Timelapse’s and this would be perfect as a Timelapse.
Nice way to add things to birthday cakes or wedding cakes.
We need unnecessary Inventions my guy
I’m definitely going to pick one of these up one day!
edible 4d prints next
Yes. No further comment.
Since the melting temperature of chocolate is so low, I guess ambient temperature is very important to print speed? If you had a cool or even freezer room, like that fancy French restaurant you are imagining, maybe the print speed can be cranked up considerably?
This bouta be game changing for cake bakers and stuff
unrelated to the video but will you post the stl of your inventions like the modular water bottle?
You should make an app for the unnecessary inventions card game, so you never run out of invention ideas, and people would be more likely to buy your product
Lmaoo I Just Realised you Could Make Any Creator Or Colab Super Fun and Cute by having their Logo Or something related to them Printed in Chocolate for Videos!
Hey unnecessary inventions what is the best 3D printer that is not too expensive? I really want one but don’t know which one is the best
Cool to see something a bit different and fun 👍🏼
You could make a silicon mold of one of the chocolate tubes, melt your own chocolate, fill and throw it in the fridge. Then allow it to come to room temp before use so you don't have to buy refills.
I'm just curious if my homemade chocolate would have the right consistency for the printer. For better or worse, not all chocolate is made the same.
Right!
how long until we get a 3-D printed mold for making more cylinders for the chocolate printer by melting down failed prints
Very useful for cake makers actually
I'm so glad this fever dream was made into a reality!
A French restaurant would use artisan chocolate by some chocolate maker whose family has been in the business for 300 years though.x)
Hey man, cool shit btw! I am curious. What sort of design background do you have to have the know how to make all of the things you do? I'm very good with tech, and have a 2 year degree in IT, and an going to finish a bachelor's in graphic design. Just trying to figure out what to focus on for making things and 3d printing my own shit lol. And possibly get into some interesting career related to those skills. Thanks!
I thought this channel was Unnecessary Inventions. This is a necessity!
You should name it the "Hershey Squirt".😁
can you make your own fillament out of chocolate? bc if so that would be an easy youtube short and also really cool.
Yes Matty. I have seen a chocolate printer before.
Could you swap out chocolates in the print process? Also could you shape any chocolate into that cylinder to print?
Yes - you can program the slicer to pause at a certain layer height and then change the chocolate. So you could do a milk chocolate and then the white chocolate for a two tone look.
@@UnnecessaryInventions chocolate zebras!?!
Yo I saw u in Burlington yesterday
Yes, yes I have seen a chocolate 3D printer before…
U could make an invention to make finding the tip of a clear tape easier
Id like to get a print head just for chocolate for any 3D printer that i have. imagine attempting resin printing but with chocolate...
I work in the confection industry and do 3d printing for a hobby. Found this Intriguing but decided not to pursue building one. The "chocolate" cores aren't real chocolate because the unit can't properly temper but a printer that prints real chocolate should be possible but more expensive than this already not cheap project.
Thank you for showcasing us what we can't afford😂
you should buy another chocolate printer, but use your already set up one to 3d print the parts needed out of chocolate if that makes sense 😅
bruh, am I the only one who would use this printer to print out Wonka Bars
Are you able to add supports on there and then you print stuff for supporters or is it only stuff without supports?
Bro we wait 3 months for u to upload A 9 MINUTE VIDEO. UPLOAD MORE PLS I LOVE HR VIDOES.
Make a plate that spins so you can access each food easier!! I need one!’
This already exists I think
I wonder about the consistency of the chocolate. Rather than having to purchase the rods of chocolate, what would it take to simply melt chocolate at home? use off the shelf chocolate from a big box store.
This thing is awesome, but the price is kind of outrageous.
Bro I actually had a question about your board game. It was that do I have to buy a 3d printer to play it?
How expensive is it to replace the chocolate and does it vary from more flavors I would assume it’s cheaper than normal PLA
I can see this being used on Iron Chef EASILY
The fact that you have to print parts of the 3 d printer is so funny.
You need your pice have all the colors in the pice you print to make the signature pice for this channel.
Maybe only for members of the channel only because of the time needed to print 3 colors.
Can you use all three types of chocolate in a single print?
The pillow was flipping me off
Bro just called the Polaroid a ‘ridiculous thing’
Do you know what slicers for 3d printer can a Chromebook can use?
make a light switch that can be balanced
I’ve been waiting for you to make a new video
I thought it was very cool until I realized its probably faster and cheaper to use casts 😅
Ice cream cover. To keep your ice cream safe without melting and keeping the form.
I missed the part where you said this was a advertisement.. $1500 and you need to print your own parts? How’s about a bugs bunny, *_no_*
Nah, those chocolate cores wouldnt even make it to the extruder if i had this
Get a XL 3-D printer Prusa
Bro should invent the "Unnecessary Chocolate"
Here’s an idea for an unnecessary invention make a shirt that says iHeart and then have a whiteboard where you can write anything
You should start a necessary inventions Channel
I don’t think id be able to let anything fully build lol
I love how the pillow behind him is always flipping you off 0:38
he will ALWAYS have a way…
