- I react to HiFiASMR's reaction to my video on my new microphone, the Sennheiser MKH8020. Like usual, he has no idea what he is talking about.

You two should just get married tbh

its crazy how often the microphone/recording equipment side of audio is overlooked considering most of it are just specifications and common sense and is way easier than figuring out listening equipments
Not to argue with any of your reasoning but you also don't know how you really sound and you never will, only a third party could confirm
no, the difference here is obvious
Listening on my phone the difference is real
You guys are such ear nerds
unrelated but what do you think matters the most in EQ? least amount of filters or Q value or gain? what would be your order of priority?
As little filters as possible to achieve the desired result is my approach. Deviations of less than 0.5dB are not worth correcting in the majority of cases.
none of these things really "matter". it's entirely contextual
Any thoughts on old Sony headphones like Sony Qualia 010, Sony MDR-R10, Sony MDR-SA5000, Sony MDR SA3000? Or newer ones like Sony MDR-Z1R? Could you maybe review the ES Lab ES-R10?
all bad
@@Sharur1 I’m assuming they’re overrated
where do you source your graphs for microphones? there are several sites for headphones and iems but very few for microphones
idk
RecordingHacks has some official measurements. Another option is finding the specs on the site or in their manuals.
There's no comparison MKH is what a microphone should sound like. It sounds so much less "digital" than the Rhode
What are your thoughts on Harmans consumer speakers, such as the onyx or sound sticks? I get the feeling they’re overrated. (People like hi-fi ASMR are the type of people that think treble equals quality.)
seems good for that class of speaker www.rtings.com/speaker/tools/compare/harman-kardon-onyx-studio-6-vs-harman-kardon-onyx-studio-8/13212/53081?usage=10159&threshold=0.10
Your mkh sounds perfect on my focal shape twins that are calibrated with sonarworks for flat response.
Human ears are definitely omnis, even though the capsuse is down a pipe with a horn. The tympanic membrane is sealed, like a pressure microphone (omni), the opening of the eustachian tube is just to balance pressure, not for acoustic cancellation like on a pressure gradient mic (anything non omni).
Without reaching the level of the Neumann binaural head or those other maniquins for measurements, a perfect binaural recording can be made with two omnis and a Jecklin disk that simulates the acoustic shadow of the head. The Schneider disk is another option. In nature a tree can be used in substitution, no need to lug around gear 😂
So yeah, we have two omni ears.
maybe you're right, innerscape
@@consilience5694 Well, these are facts and recording techniques field tested through years, not my opinions: of course I'm right. The Neumann KU 100 dummy head I mentioned has 2 omni capsules as stated by the manufacturer.
@@_innerscape_ The manufacturer lost its way. Omni capsules aren't required by the consumer. As always, the manufacturer needs to listen to the consumer. Common mistake by the manufacturer
@@consilience5694 uh? You mean it's too expensive? I agree. I use the poor man version for OSS recording with a DIY Jecklin disk. Omni capsules have a place and a purpose. I don't get it. You would prefer a Neumann head with cardioid capules? Consumers don't always know what they want and what is technically possible. A feedback is definitely needed, but not at the point of having a car designed by Homer Simpson, that one didn't work; electric cars either.
What headphones are you using in the video
LCD-5
go gettem tiger
real
Both the TLM 103 and the Sennheiser MKH2080 are overkill AS FUCK for what either of you are doing. The only difference is he wasted $1100 twice and you wasted $1300, assuming you both bought them off of Amazon.
not overkill
@@Sharur1 overkill, your recording environment is also compromised, the excessive reverb makes you sound far too sibilant and bassy, granted it's better than the NT1 but still not good.
@@Oddzey His space may change in the future. If Sharur decides to play music, he now has a portable, professional microphone for that purpose. Some have said it brings on too much of the room, but that’s exactly what you want in recording voice and instruments in different spaces.
@@ShaneyElderberry for that purpose it's definitely respectable, however it's not quite as forgiving with his recording distance and environment on his voice
Agreed. Shure SM7B would be a much better fit. Sharur is a scrub
the sony mdr-1a and m2 are extremely bright.
also have you introduced hifiasmr to your parents?
hifiasmr review where
Listening with Neumann KH120II dual subwoofer stereo system. Mic sounds great, very natural.
We can hear your spit in your mouth. That usually happens with some hifi songs aswell. I think this is more accurate. But a human wouldnt be able to hear your spit with the ears, so you have some tuning to do, I think
the spit sound is a side effect of me close miking
i dont know is peek in treble but nt1 so echo
?
you can definitely hear the boosted treble
Yay. A battle of the autists. I’ve always wanted this
you look like an alien with your headphones or a robot
Hifiasmr is a clown fr
He deleted the video lol
yeah
You're just perfect. ❤
ya boi
He is your better half.
Get a foam filter pls
No
that damages sound
ur previous mic was better for this type of videos
A bit of sibilance, blahblahSsblahblahSs, but good sounding mike
nerds
you guys has no clue about what is the purpose of cardiod pattern and large diaphragm condenser mic. Stop talking bs and why don’t yourself make some music and understand how vocal should generally sound like in a song first? These mics are not meant to sound flat anyways. If you want accurate flat sound just buy some small condenser calibration mics.
no
