HPI Venture Wayfinder. First Rock Test

- I was absolutely sure that it was going to be a week later.
I was absolutely sure that it was going to be a trail run.
I was fairly sure the tyres wouldn't be up to much.
I suspected that it would be frustrating.
I was wrong.
A few lumps of rock and concrete later and we've got some nice bits of footage showing that the Wayfinder isn't a bad rig and is at home on rock.
Now I'm REALLY looking forward to trailing with this thing.

No rain is always good.. Well, the odd shower is pretty handy!
Having an original Venture I can tell you the steering servo is worthless and was the first thing to go on mine.
A few mods, wheels and tires, and this thing is a beast! Keeps up with my trx4 and in some cases out preforms it. Would love to see more of it on your channel.
I spoke to HPI and they said they tested their Wayfinders a couple of days ago on long trail runs and didn't have any servo issues. They're going to send me a replacement.
It's great to hear that you like it. I'm looking forward to trailing it and testing it against others. What were the mods that you did?
@rcpie I'm glad they're sending a replacement, hopefully it's better than the one that originally came with it.
As for my mods I put on aluminum links, (the original venture came with plastic) servo and motor, cheap bead locks, and a few aluminum bits to replace the plastic ones I broke. I actually ended up putting the canyon trail tires from my trx4 on my hpi and other than the servo it was probably the most significant thing done.
The tires that it comes with are pretty good but the smaller size really hinders the performance.
The whirring sound in the drive line makes me think there is a grub screw that is coming loose
I'm going to open things up and have a look before I go trailing.
I appreciate your review because I'm always on the look out for other crawlers. For what HPI is charging in USD, they have some stiff competition with these trucks.

Different in different territories, I guess. The American brands generally cost a fortune in the UK.. if you can get them.
