  • This is the brand new trail truck from HPI-Racing. Thanks to them for sending it over.
    They're a famous RC brand with a fantastic history but they seem to have been lost in the wilderness for a while, changing ownership and struggling to fulfil parts supply. Hopefully those days are gone and the latest owners are going to push the brand forward to give us more viable options in all corners of the RC car market.
    I'm certainly excited to try a different brand and see if what new ideas might be out there, so let's have a look at what's in the box..
    I'll be taking it out for its first drive as soon as I can, so don't forget to subscribe to the channel to see what it's like.
    Please leave me a comment too. It all really helps.
    Thanks for watching!

    The hpi venture is my favorite rc crawler,i own every brand crawler there is but the venture is my favorite rig ,the things that are different from the first venture are the body,now they have aluminium links v1 was plastic,and the last new thing now you have 3 different battery posisions v1 was just the rear place,the only 2 things you need to do to make it a beast ,swap stock servo and tire and rims for aluminium beadlocks rims en better tires and you have a winner!!!

    • @rcpie
      @rcpie  Před 4 měsíci

      That's really interesting. Nice to hear some love for the Venture. It seems quite nice to me but there's a bit of negativity floating around. The servo will definitely be changing. I'll keep the tyres and wheels for a while to give them a fair test but I'm sure they'll go.

      @@rcpie the stock tires are no good, you will see, the bad news about the hpi venture is the sad thing that it was Ready to launch to the world,but hpi racing was at that point as a company financiële broke so the release dit come about 3 years later,sadly Traxxas has launched there first crawler the trx4 defender and it causes a bom in the crawler world, even the Godfather that put the crawler in the world the brand Axial racing was blown away from the release of the Traxxas trx4 and so when the hpi venture came out 3 years later it was sadly forgotten,but i am very pleased that the released the wayfinder now and yes it has little chances on the chassis/car but again its a beast of a trail/crawler rc car ,and the biggest nice news is that the Danish company is working very hard to release new cars and working there way up to be on one day becoming back to where the belong back on top of the rc world again

    Regardless of the faulty issues your Venture has, I truly enjoyed your video and review. I'm so glad HPI decided to bring back the Venture, since I made the mistake of not purchasing the first model when it was released (RC hiatus). I have to admit that the body leaves much to be desired. It's not that bad either. But it would have been great if HPI had offered at least two types of bodies as a choice. Then again having the choice to relocate the battery, was also a nice touch and the wheels are nice too. Can't wait for the running video. Keep up the great work my good man. And greetings from Texas! 👋🏻

      I know what you mean about the body. It's not bad, it's just not the most exciting. The battery tray options are a great thing, for sure. The wheels aren't bad but I usually ditch plastic ones for metal. The hub caps will be transferable, so that's a win!

    Oh yeah! I remember that old HPI design. It must have been about seven years since that. They haven't changed practically anything about it, apparently. It was a good base to get started in RC crawling.

      I didn't have or see the original, FJ version, so I don't know how similar it was. It's not ground-breaking but seems like a reasonable piece of kit. Some nice features and friends that I know had a Venture say it was good but the parts supply forced them to look elsewhere.

    Variable rate springs bro. Thats why there's two. You can have Variable rate springs made from a single piece of steel wire, or u can just do a two piece setup. Just like real cars. So not puzzling anymore mate.

    • @rcpie
      @rcpie  Před 3 měsíci +1

      I think you missed the point. I understand variable rate springs. The offer thing is springs that aren't as long as the shocks. If you unwind the spring collar fully, there is a gap. Although this doesn't limit the travel, it does limit the way in which you can set up the shocks.

    Love this unit; question is it ever to late to start up a RC Channel? I currently have 3 builder kits 3 different brands- HPI Venture, Element Enduro Kit, Axial Scx10’2 Kit; was thinking in the rounds of letting the viewers pick options for each rig. As well as with my choices.

      It's never too late. I started mine 2 years ago. It takes a loooong time to get going but if you work at it you'll get there. Sadly we've chosen a quite small but very crowded niche.. i.e. not a huge number of viewers but a hell of a lot of channels. Everyone in RC wants to be a CZcamsr!

    I have the venture scale builder kit. Great cars and perform very well. Too bad this is just exact same. The steering geometry is this cars biggest let down. Turning circle is unacceptable out of the box. Panhandle bar needs to be relocated, servo remounted, and steering link extended a bit. It is possible to get around 45 degrees out of the axles assuming it has the cvds.
    Hopefully they adress this at some point.

    • @rcpie
      @rcpie  Před 4 měsíci

      @ck7777 Interesting about your steering upgrades. I'd love to know more about what you did, exactly.
      I think the links have been updated from the V1 and the extra battery position options have been added. There may be more things coming too.

    • @ck7777
      @ck7777 Před 4 měsíci

      Too bad youtube doesn't allow a picture for a reply. But essentially the steering link contacts the panhard bar with the stock set up. Preventing further steering angle. The pan hard needs to be shifted towards front of vehicle (I used a rock Pirates panhard mount to do this). The servo horn need to be pointed forward in neutral. Ditch the stock saver and fit a tamiya tt01 size horn... it has a long enough body to space it. and then full steering lock can be achieved. Not sure that made sense but I tried!

    • @ck7777
      @ck7777 Před 4 měsíci +1

      Further benefit of this is that panhard bar no longer contacts axle at full droop. That was another issue I remember. Could never compress front shocks all the way. Shame they got so many things right then ignored basic front end geometry.

    • @albertkelly7129
      @albertkelly7129 Před 3 měsíci

      @@ck7777 this man speaks the truth. everything on the builders kit was top notch quality but the front end geometry is a bit messed up in that it completely limits suspension and steering movement due to the things you mentioned. the crazy thing is it still performs great but it could have been exceptional. the other stupid thing they did was make the bumper mounts a unique width but only a few mms different from everybody else which prevents someone from fitting all the aftermarket options out there that fit everything else. super high quality rig but quirky for no reason/ benefit
