Also for the tip of not starting them all at once, I didnt know that and the package didn't say that. You were very informative. I really appreciate it.
TYSM for this helpful video. You got right into the lesson - no useless intro and then appearing on camera talking about what what/when/why/how, which you covered during your demonstration. So many tutorials waste viewers’ time. Say hi to Darth Vader for me.🙃
Thank you very much. In WI here, we had a frost warning a few days ago. It’s going to be summery over Memorial Day weekend. I’ll nick and soak today for sowing outdoors very soon. Right into the pot! I see morning glory seeds growing outside already in a few pots that caught seeds last year. They’re amazing! I’m going to stagger growth like you advised. Thanks!
First off, great video. I learn better by seeing how to do things. Now question is... Why don't I do all my seeds at once? Why few now and then a few the next week and so on? Thanks in advance.
Hi Kel, Morning glories bloom near the top of new growth, if you stagger planting you will have better coverage of flowers down the whole length of your plants. Other then that there is no reason why you would have to do this.
THANK YOU!! I have been trying for 4 years to start morning glories & then move them outside- im lucky if i get 1 seed to grow then when it does... ill get 1 flower then it withers away & dies. I kept asking around- what am i doing wrong??? People literally tell me they have them growing like wild & cant get them to stop- ! And i cant even get 2 blooms! 😢 They only seem happy when i let them dry out & very scarse on watering... im going to try nicking today- any other advice? I should prob add im in Boston area.
You are most welcome! First thing is they really don't like to be transplanted. So if you are going to start them indoors put them into peat pots or a pot that can go right into the ground. They will also need to be hardened off, or get used to the sun outside. Be sure you plant them in a sunny spot. But if I were you, I would nick and soak the seeds and them plant them right outside in a sunny spot. Or try it both ways and see what works best. And don't feel bad that yours are not coming out like others, every garden is vastly different from others, the soil, the sunlight, amount of water ect. I start most of my plants from seed, but overall I am only about 50% successful. The main thing is that you keep trying different things until you hit upon what works for you!!!
I'm soaking mine but the pack says overnight. Should I drain extra water and leave them to sprout in the paper towel? I have a week until last frost, but want to to make sure the seeds I started have a chance to grow.
i just nicked some hibiscus seeds. Since I really couldn't find a good diagram of what to nick I lightly nicked the radical pointy tip part on one seed and the curved back shell part on the other to test. The seed that had its back nicked sunk to bottom of glass. The one with radical nicked didn't sink. Wouldn't it be safe to say if not nicked correctly they will float?
Hi, I use the fingernail clippers to just nip a small piece of the hard coat off. You don't want to cut into the white inside of the plant. But if you get just a small bit it's ok.
You made this very easy compared to the other videos I looked at. Thanks!

Thank you straight to the point more videos on growing vines please!
Gotta love CZcams. How else would I find out how to nick a morning glory seed? Thanks for posting this!
Bless you for making this video! I was having such trouble nicking the seeds with a knife like other websites told me to do.
Great video, thanks!!! I knew nothing about this flower stuff until now!
What I needed to know!!! Thank you!!
Thank you so much for this video!
Oh! Good idea! Here I was using a pill splitter, which works but is more work.
So very helpful. Thanks for taking your time to make this video!
Thank you. I didn't have a clue about nick the seeds.
Do you Nick the pointed end or fatter end or does it matter?
That is so very clever!
I lowered my blood pressure by meditating to your husband’s hyptnotic breathing.

Which end do you nick?

Which end did you cut? What is the way to tell? I couldn't see it visually.
Cool!
I just soak them in water for five days. They sprout around two to three days later and continue growing
This is also a good method.
It means u germinated it

Thank you so much! I tried to nick them and they flew all over my kitchen 😂

Gee I am not sure, I have never nicked hibiscus seeds, I just plant them out. Let me know how they each do!
Are you actually cutting them off or just scratching the coating?

thank you
What happens when the next say you get them put the water and they are a little oozy or goozy?
If they are goozy, they might not be good seed. The seed itself should stay hard.
What side of the seed itself do i nick? Does it matter?
Hi, I just nick the side of the seed by the pointy end. The main thing is just to make sure the nick is very small.
Thank you, I ruined a whole pack of the morning glory seeds cutting into them lol stupid coronavirus brain
Sister can we nick seeds after soaking for 24 hours?
For sure you can. Try it and let me know how it works out!!
@@lynnmantell8694 okay thnx sister
Tell Darth Vader to turn his respirator down the next time he runs the camera...
Sean Hale 😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
🤣 I was thinking the same thing. I just didn't wanted it to come out sounding mean b/C I like the video
Your husbands breathing has me all hot and bothered
