    Awesome review! How does this compare to the SW15? Drastic difference in terms of output? Sealed vs ported make a difference to articulation and speed? Want to see if the extra $ is worth it 😊

    • @gabrieltechreviews8185
      @gabrieltechreviews8185 Před 8 měsíci +4

      yes it has MUCH more output and low end but it also depends on your room. In my large open basement, the ported one is a much better fit but I am testing both for a review and was able to integrate 2 ported and 2 sealed pretty nicely considering the challenged of ported and no ported due to phase.

    • @JilesMcCoy

      The ported has more output for sure. The sealed goes a bit deeper.

      Kinda weird that the sealed digs deeper, right?@@JilesMcCoy

    • @JilesMcCoy
      @JilesMcCoy  Před 5 měsíci +2

      @@briancardsfan No, sealed in all circumstances digs deeper than ported. Ported is just louder down to port tuning. Its a common misconception. On HUGE ported subs you can find some tuned down to under 20hz, but its uncommon. But under port tuning sealed will always reign supreme. You see lots of ported out there when folks are chasing DBs. Thats why single subwoofer systems are very often ported. Cause folks want it loud at the expense of low bass.

    So if I have a budget of $1500 for a Home Theater subwoofer, should I do two of the SW15P, or a single amp from Hsu (VTF-15H) or Monolith?
    If the answer is two of the SW15P, how hard is it to set up a two-sub system? I’ve never done it, but my understanding is that my Denon X3800h can do it without a separate DSP, I just don’t know how to go about setting that up…

    • @JilesMcCoy
      @JilesMcCoy  Před 8 měsíci +2

      If you aren't going to spend any more money then probably the SW15P. If you can buy the HSU and then a 2nd down the line that might be useful. Of course you could have 4 SW15 P at that point. Which is a huge amount of bass.

    Only 100dB I guess that’s why it’s cheaper. When I built my ht subwoofer, my target was 120dB at 20Hz. I think that’s what’s needed for the movie theater type excitement and sound quality

    • @JilesMcCoy
      @JilesMcCoy  Před 8 měsíci +1

      There is no EQ. Only the room is impacting the sound. So there is some room gain at play here.

    Compression isn't a metric used by other subs so we can only wonder how it compares. Why not use the CEA standards? It's competitor is Hsu VTF-3- same price and per CEA and databass it's over 119db across the low bass freqs outdoors, imagine what it'd do in your basement.

    • @JilesMcCoy
      @JilesMcCoy  Před 5 měsíci +1

    • @JilesMcCoy
      @JilesMcCoy  Před 6 měsíci

      If I had the money I would probably go with the ported. If you have space constraints or want to shave a little off the price go with the sealed. Both are solid solutions. The ported will have more output.

    • @evilinside5984
      @evilinside5984 Před měsícem

      @@loooga18 - You can't go wrong with either choice. Is your preference for subwoofer sound a sealed enclosure, or ported? Only you can answer that question. Also, is space a concern, cosmetics, features, price, etc. Make a ✔️ List of things that are important to you, and rank them in order of importance. My only suggestion/opinion is because you have smaller bose acoustimass speakers, i would get the Stark Sounds SW15, as i like the smooth response of a sealed enclosure, as it transitions into the midbass. Which ever has more points that you value, is your winner! You wont be disappointed either way. Hope this helps!?
