I got my SQL15 D2 2 years ago. I put it in a 1.5 cf sealed box and just love it. Using a Crown XLS2500 bridged (2400 watts) @4ohms it cranks out the lows. I took it down to 8hz with a frequency generator at 80% volume level and it did not bottom out. You couldn't hear anything but cabinet doors, trim work and anything that wasn't bolted down rattling, in a 1800sqf house ! For $316 shipped is practically giving them away. It is a excellent choice on a budget or not.
That’s awesome!
Fantastic video on the SQL-15 kit! Measurements and everything. Exactly what we need 😊
Thanks! Please share if it is useful!
Really good stuff. Love how you used stereo integrity with the Marty cube combo. Would love to see a similar build combo with their hst-18 or hs-24.
I’d love to do that too. It’s on the list!
This looks like a good fit for my theater. I may build that one.
Awesome! Please share the video on all the social channels! Thanks!
Awesome, Jiles! I’m curious of your impression of which commercial offerings compares to the the SQL-15 in the GSG kit?
That is a tough comparison... but I have some videos coming up where I do that! Please share the video on all the social channels! Thanks!
Nice video! I've been waiting for one on the 15". Any idea how it would compare to Dayton ho or hf? Did you try modeling that box with other subs, were there any other ones that were close runner ups?
Thanks!
These imo are way better than my dayton um18s that I have if that helps
@@bingdong8571 any bit of info helps thanks. What amp are you running?
@@mcjonner nx3000d
I didn’t model any… I went straight to the SI driver for this build. Highly reccomended.
you built these in 18" with the Lavoce SAN184.03 as well, which do you prefer? I have 2x svs pb3000 now wanting to try diy route to get a bit more SPL. i'm torn between 18/15 marty cube. the SPL on these 15's seems like it would be PLENTY of low bass. I have 27 inches under my screen so the 18's would have to lay sideways. 15's seem like a good size!
Sounds like a good match!
I really agree with CZcamsrs, but you hit every note for me on this build. Only thing that would make it better is just fancy finishing like a wood veneer or something for people who are good at that type of thing. This is the speaker design, DIY and all that people should be using!
I wish I could do all the fancy work! I am decent at the basics though. Please share on the socials if you enjoyed!
Is this driver more towards low end rumble like svs subwoofers or more towards hard hitting bass like pro audio subwoofers? Or somewhere in between??
Somewhere in between. Its a great all arounder. Please share the video on all the social channels!
Liked and subbed!
Thanks so much!
Loved the video and think im going to build 2 of these. I have 1 question though. If i want to power these with a crown amp would it be better to purchase the dual 2 ohm or dual 4 ohm version of the driver? Which one was shown in the video and was that the paper cone or the carbon fiber cone? Thank you!
The dual 2 ohm for sure. Wire in series for a 4 ohm load. The one in the video is the dual 2 ohm.
Jiles Do you still have the big devastator that you built in your theater room or did I miss you removing that? How does it compare to one or two of these 15s? Obviously that would have to be near field in comparison unless you move the boxes around.
Not any longer. But the dev eats any 15" 1:1 for sure. Its a totally different beast. It has 6" of extra cone diameter. And displacement really matters. Double 15" can even the fight quite a bit though.
Awesome build! any plans on doing GSG Evolution Series?
Absolutely. Just need to figure out the logistics!
Please share the video on all the social channels! Thanks!
Out of curiosity what are the distortion characteristics of the Stereo Integrity subwoofer?
That would be a great question for the SI folks!
Any idea when the subs will be back in stock? They are sold out currently. Do you have an alternate recommendation for the sub? Thanks!
I don’t know. That’s a good question for Stereo Integrity.
@@JilesMcCoy I sent them an email. 👍
No response from integrity. Any alternative sub recommendations?
What do you think of the RTJ dual 18 inch subs in the Super Speaker?
I've never seen/heard a RTJ (or JTR speaker)before. Reportedly they are good. Particularly if you like the industrial styling. No comments till I have hands on experience.
Great job when is the sound demo coming? 😎👍
If it is demanded then I must do it…
@@JilesMcCoy i’ve been trying to get the 15 inch two ohms but it’s been sold out for like three months already! 🥲
I'm thinkin' about putting a pair of these in my car! Sealed enclosure with a solid 2000 watts. 😁
Do it!
Hey Jiles! What amp are you running for these?
Sinbosen FP10000q. But I like the FP14000 too.
What's the tuning freq of this sub ?? Lovely video by the way
Of the box or the FS of the driver? Please share the video on all the social channels! Thanks!
@@JilesMcCoy box tuning. Yeah il surely share 😊👍
Do you have link for the sub amp?
www.sinbosenaudio.com/sinbosen-fp10000q-p00093p1.html If you need one let me know.
I’m pretty excited. I’m doing a pair of the SI 18s with a powersoft SP2-8000. Jason from GSG is gonna hook me up.
Thats awesome!
Just finished one of these diy to si ported specs. Its my new favorite out of 10 other subs. Im so impressed with the sound quality of the driver from a small company for a low price. Will most likely be purchasing the hs24 now. Stereo integrity is as advertised!
I agree. I'd love to build with that HS24 too!!!!
Please share the video on all the social channels! Thanks!
Vs Devastator? (I'm guessing Devastator is better, but may not be a good fit (size, aesthetics, placement, etc) in your particular room?)
Dev is different. Different design, size, etc. if you are looking for a dev these won’t be on your list and vice versa. Need the right tool for the job.
Please share the video on all the social channels! Thanks!
How do these compare to the UM18 in the Marty box?
I like these a bit more I think.
@@JilesMcCoy How many watts do you think you were giving them at max SPL?
Natural winner 🏆.
Thanks!
These would beat SVS.
I’d love to put them up against a set of pb16 and see how they do.
I think you might be right about the best there is for a home theater!!!
Please share on the socials if you enjoyed! Thanks!
I’ll trade you for a pair of 18’s
Pass, love these subs. Perfect size and output for my spot.
Why is it all these home theater subs cost 3x as much as their car audio counterparts? Comparable specs, same basket, motor, voice coil, tinsel leads, spider...in all likeliness, made in the same warehouses in China.
Plain & simple, Mobile audio is a stronger & more competitive industry. Folks have been building mobile ground pounders way longer than home theaters. There's at least a dozen Subwoofer brands in mobile audio that are considered top tier & they're all trying to slit each others throats. The tribalism in car audio is ferocious. These guys have $100k in subs & Korean made amps in an SUV doing over 170db.
At the end of the day, it's relatively all the same product with a different logo slapped across a dust cap. But if I were to build Subs for a home theater, I'd be doing it with car audio subs. More bang for the buck with identical performance. Hell, even these pre cut flat packs cost quadruple what the top tier car audio guys are charging for their version of DIY pre cut enclosures. Home theater industry are infants in comparison to car audio industry
Sql and spl, car subs are just spl
And you are only pressuring a tiny tiny space in a car. Home Theater is the big leagues for sub design and implementation.
I'm the first?!
You are the first! They are amazing subwoofers. Sound great and have tons of output!!!!
my man, $1,100 each..... ouch! i have a large room 25 X 50 X 12 tall ceilings, and im looking for something to fill this. 10's and 12's just dont do it. but im not sure i can swing $1,100, the wife would kill me. any other suggestions? (and no, a new wife is not an option. LOL)
4 Starke sw15 for 2k all in?
I didn’t pay that much for my 18’s.
Inflation?
@@JilesMcCoy probably every is getting expensive. Did you like having your new subs insulated ?
@@jasonsullivan8001 I do think I like it. I don’t have a comparison sub… but these sound great.
Bad to the bone
💯
I love these woofer builds you do. I'd like to think 🤔 a home subwoofer should not cost 5 or 10 thousand dollars for a good subwoofer.
I agree 100%! Can't wait for the next build. Please share the video on all the social channels!
