A subwoofer with a remote - that's something you don't see very often. It's a nice addition, considering the controls are usually in the back.

Bought this recently after doing some research. I was going to buy the 10” model based on its amazing reviews. Went with the 12” due to my room size and I have to say it is a great subwoofer. Clean, deep, powerful bass. It doesn’t struggle or fade at any setting or volume. Just an incredible subwoofer and I am very happy with it.

I bought this for a computer setup, and the 10" before, but this 12" slaps! I also own a pair of SVS PB3000s, and they're a little cleaner to me in sound, but not 600 worth. If I could do it over I would just get two of these and haved me 1200$, but they weren't out yet when I was buying my setup.

I love my 12s. It really punches. I have a 10s MKII at the rear of my room as a supplement, and they work wonderfully together. I get outstanding base, and am completely pleased with both of my RSL Speedwoofers. I don't believe I could have done any better for a total cost of less than $1,500.

I had a 10S and 10SII and replaced the original 10S with the 12S and the difference was insane. The 10S are amazing subs but I had no idea how much low end I was missing out on. The tactile sensations with the 12S on the super low notes are just amazing, it feels like my floorboards are shaking. Highly recommend all of RSL's stuff

I've been looking at this sub for almost a year now and I'm about ready to pull the trigger. As a car audio installer in my younger years, "size matters" for an enclosure that you want to dig deep. I'm not much on 3rd order, but if this thing will do 16 HZ, which everyone says is will, this is meant for me. Just by the design, I like the rear slot port. I currently have a 4th order with the ports at the rear and also in a corner, which gives the best sound without port noise. It seems everyone wants small enclosures, but I think the bigger the better, just to achieve those sub-bass frequencies, especially below 25 HZ.

I'd be very interested to see how this performs compared to a HSU VTF-3 MK5 HP, which is a 15" sub that often goes on sale for only $150 more than the RSL 12S. I do believe there is an added cost for shipping, where the RSL 12S might be free shipping. Still very close in price point and the 15" should be able to have more extension with less effort.
If I ever get one I’ll compare.
So in your opinion, would you take this rsl 12s ported sub or the Starke sound sw12 sealed sub?
Depends on if you want ported or sealed. Each has its own pros and cons depending on the design. The RSL is really big compared to the Starke. The RSL will have a bit more output (I've not measured the Starke so I am just assuming) in the midbass. The Starke is more affordable, and if you buy 2 then I'd go with the Starke. If just a single then its the RSL. Both are great subs and great companies.
i have the speedwoofer 10s and been looking to upgrade to two 12s, but i've also been following your diy journey with the GSG and not sure which direction to go, 15" or 18" marty cubes. If you had to choose in terms of value and time, what would you go for?
Those are usually products for 2 different customers. For time and value the speedwoofer gear. For performance the DIY 18s.

Curious.. I own a pair of Maggie 1.7is and looking for a sub to integrate with them. I don’t care about HT so from a sub integration for 2 channel do you think this will do the trick or should I get with something from Rel or rythimk servo? Not sure if these are quick enough for Maggie’s? I’ve seen some other channel measure start/stop speeds in other subs.
Finally on boundary mode perhaps that is for people like me that wools stick the sub in a corner so you might get some boominess with the port being near a multiple boundary walls.
Will you be able to feed the sub with XLR input or have to use high level? If XLR consider the Starke sw15 sealed too. If you need high level this is the way to go.
@@JilesMcCoy I use a anthem STR integrated along with the Maggie’s. I probably will go with the sub outs for proper bass management using their Arc room correction software and mic. If I don’t go with RSL I was thinking dual rel 7x or 9x or perhaps dual rythmik f12 se. Need something lighting quick stop starts to keep up with Maggie’s so they disappear and integrate. Not sure if RSL can do that even if called “speedwoofer”.
Jiles, how does this compare to the Starke SW15? It would be interesting to see that and based on the BOGO at $1,000 for two. So value to performance. Love your reviews!

Emotiva Airmotiv XS12 with rear bottom Slot Port has XLR balanced input and output, 90 Pound HDF box for $549. I prefer the 15" Sealed HSU for $939, then Starke SW15 $549

@@JilesMcCoy Stereo Integrity has a 24" Subwoofer is 98 Pounds and 5 HZ, for $1,300 the top model. But you have to build your own box 8 Cubic Feet Sealed and 20 Cu. Ft. Ported. But i think now they are going to sell boxes too. Dual 2 Ohm woofer

@@JilesMcCoy I used to build boxed with 3/4" MDF for car subs but back in 1998-2002. I'm lazy now. But having to get an Amplifier, box, maybe one day= After i buy 20 Acres of land i will get the 24" Subwoofer.

Right on. They are pretty established in the higher end gear. I love XLR connections.
@JilesMcCoy definitely the better connection and it's not that expensive of a difference. It will eventually trickle all the way down I think unless they come out with something else.
