  • A traditional Northumbrian song, composer unknown. I'm fond of all of the dialect repertoire but this one is a particular favourite. It's one of several songs that I recorded during the covid lockdowns to keep myself occupied. Just an informal home recording using my mobile phone.

I remember this one, brings back memories at school etc. I must admit I enjoyed all the lyrics I only knew a couple. A great job and also a cute Geordie song.

Thanks. Yes a cute tune and one of my favourites of the repertoire. It was a bit short so I added the final verse to sort of round it off.

Thanks for taking an interest in my music and commenting. By the way, I approved your comment on 'Winlaton Coal' but somehow it doesn't show. Some CZcams glitch I think. Then you commented on 'Crowleys Crew' but I deleted the file to make an amendment. So that one was lost too. Apologies.

Ha! -- great lyrics. That Epi sounds nice fingerpicked, too.

Thanks, yes it's a good one. At times these old dialect songs have a sort of bygone innocence which I find charming. That's one of the things that draws me to them.
