    Olight Warrior Mini 3 Video Transcript:
    General thoughts after a week of usage/size comparison/practicality/interesting things:
    • So I've reviewed a few Olight flashlights now but recently I got myself one that I absolutely love. It's the Warrior 3 Mini. Straight out of the box, it looks incredible with the blue/black gradient. Bold design, it looks different and eye-catching compared to most other lights. Olight also produces my favourite knurling pattern. Very grippy and also reminds me of those massage grip things. Doubles as a great fidget toy.
    • Comparison with S2+, Speras EST, FC12
    Overall Construction, LED, lens, bezel and reflector:
    • Flawless machining, anodising is also gripper compared to my Warrior X and Warrior 3s. The gradient colour is unique and they must have had to do half of it first, then layer the second colour after. Large tactical switch that doubles as a magnetic charging port. Nano moulding technology - allows direct bonding of plastic and metal. You can see it on the switch. No recessed areas where dust can get stuck. Strong magnetic tail cap. The button is strangely satisfying to press. Dual stage and quiet.
    • SFT40 with TIR lens. Bezel is crenulated but not sharp. The TIR lens has a dip in the centre. Unusual, I haven't seen this design before.
    • Hidden proximity sensor. I like that it doesn't interfere with the TIR lens.
    • Comes with a proprietary 18650 cell (3500 mAh) and magnetic charging. I found I could charge the cell in my external VC8 charger, as the positive terminal sticks out more. Nice work Olight for making this minor but important change. This means I don't have to rely on proprietary charging.
    UI - modes:
    • Five brightness levels - includes moonlight/turbo. You can only access turbo and medium from the tail switch. Half-press or full-press for med/high. Press and hold for a momentary on either mode.
    • All modes can be accessed from the side switch. Triple click for strobe. Hold from off for moonlight. Hold for 3 seconds for memory mode.
    • Lock by pressing and holding.
    • Proximity sensor only activated when the object is blocking at the time of switch on. Much better as rain or approaching objects won't interfere with the operation.
    Performance - total output, beam profile, longevity, practicality:
    • CCT, CRI, Ceiling bounce test
    • The beam has an interesting combination of flood and a large hotspot. Reminds me a bit of the larger Warrior 3S. Impressive hotspot intensity for such a small bezel.
    Considerations:
    • Proprietary charging and battery. The good news is that the positive terminal of the 18650 sticks out more on this battery so I can charge it with my Xtar VC8.
    • Plastic lens? Standard with TIRs.
    Verdict:
    • Interesting and visually attractive design, it just looks cool and doesn't sacrifice function too. I like that Olight has refined the proximity sensor and also kept this design small but incredibly powerful. The feel of the light, the button, the knurling and the overall look make this one of my favourite EDC lights. I normally hesitate to carry around much smaller lights like this as they don't have tactical functionality and decreased output/throw but none of those are an issue here. Highly recommended if you don't mind the proprietary battery.

    Funny thing i already had the wm3 battery in my slot charger running a capacity test i want to see exactly what the mah is wich with olight is always legit with other olight batteries i just use a small magnet in the middle of the battery and they all work perfect on my slot chargers. Also i love there wireless charging its awesome and there battery is pretty slick notice there is never no talk about placing or even needing a spring bypass they have a nice design but i still love all my other ligjts especially the ones running anduril 2.0 they all have pros and cons the wm3 is a very nice light..

    The metal button, slim pocket clip, hidden proximity sensor and flatter tail button look like big improvements over the Warrior Mini 2!

    Thanks for the great review, Darren! If you had to choose between this and the Baton 3 Pro Max (since they are the same price), which would you pick and why? 🙂

      I prefer this one because it has dual switches (one on the rear which acts as a tactical switch). It's also brighter and has a longer effective range. Intense hotspot.. also good for self defence.

    waiting on a Olight to do a high CRI. After using the Wuben X2 these lights seem a little off in terms of colour.

      They prioritise output I guess. I can't tell much of a difference as I'm partially colour blind 😅

    Hey, i got this model in this week. Can i ask, when you set it up for the rear switch to be in tactical mode where it hits strobe, have they changed it to only med mode and strobe? all other tactical olights when in tactical mode hits turbo on half press and full pressure gets strobe.

    • @DarrenYeoYT
      @DarrenYeoYT  Před 9 měsíci +1

      Yeah man, I haven't got it on me right now but I remember mine was med/strobe too. I'd prefer it to have turbo as well. Still is a good self-defence mode I guess.

      Yes that is terrible and for me was the reason not to buy it. med/strobe for tactical mode make no sense to me. I will wait and hope that they will change that.

    If you hold down the side switch & hit the tailcap switch on high you get tactile mode.

    I always want to hate Olight, but in the past year, they’ve made it pretty difficult. They offer a lot of their lights in neutral white emitters now, and I actually really like their UI.

      I'm in the same boat, I almost feel bad liking them haha. If you can get one for a good price, and deal with the proprietary charging, they're gold. The cell in the Warrior Mini 3 can also can be charged externally.

    What is the sideswitch . rubber or metal?

  • @NGMonocrom
    @NGMonocrom Před 8 měsíci +1

    One huge downgrade.... Now the clip is far too high up on the bezel for those of us who actually prefer bezel-up carry. Yes, it's lower profile than version 2. But now you have considerably less bezel to grip when pulling it out of a pocket. Really, no point to that. Might as well just put a dedicated bezel-down carry clip and call it a day.

    • @DarrenYeoYT
      @DarrenYeoYT  Před 8 měsíci +1

      Olight now include an adapter that allows you to place the clip on the tail cap area (invert it).
