  • Ever since my mom brought home that first Red Lion amaryllis bulb when I was a teenager, I've been in love with the flower. The nuance of flower that lets me decide when I want it to bloom is just so fun. Instead of Christmas, I prefer amaryllis flowers for Valentine's Day. The flowers are so much more appreciated when my winter doldrums are in full swing.
It's easy to do too provided you plan ahead. And right now is a great time to purchase amaryllis bulbs! They're deeply discounted as most people prefer their amaryllis flowers for Christmas and paid full-price for bulbs they bought and planted in August.
Let me show you how easy it is. And here are the links to the things I used in the video...

Thanks for reminding me about the amaryllis I have in my basement! The ones I had from Christmas last year bloomed again this summer while outside.

They are just so easy to grow! Several years ago, I forgot about one I had left on my work bench in the garage. It had been there since the previous October and didn't see the light of day until the following May. By July, It was in full bloom and gorgeous. Doesn't get much easier than that! And thanks for watching!

Great video!! O bought 2 last werk...Apple Blossom and Flame. Here on gulf coast I've been planting them in my flowerbed after blooming...but based on your info, might leave in pots this time. I have 4 in pots outside right now...I just LOVE them!!

I find it easier to just leave them in the same pot for a few years. Makes it easier to move them inside and out. I'm not familiar with Flame but I'm sure it's gorgeous!

Last year was my first experience with Amaryllis. I basically did the same steps you recommended, except for starting the dormancy period a month earlier. It’s got about an inch of new growth, so keeping my fingers crossed that I get a bloom. Just in case, I did buy 3 more, 2 to give away, and 1 for me in case last years doesn’t bloom. 🤞I just recently found your channel, and really enjoy your content.

Hi Vickie! Thanks for watching and good luck with the amaryllis. They are resilient and one of the easiest plants to grow.
