This is a simple, inexpensive Christmas project. You can even used non-waxed bulbs and that would male the project even more affordable. Moss: amzn.to/3HqAJLL
I’d just run a red and white ribbon through the wires of the basket and make a bow in the corner. Or even a burlap to contain the moss. 😊 love the idea though.
Brian, my dear departed mom had an amyrillus that she was gifted by the European Health Spa. They were going to throw it away when the blossom died off but she wasn't having it. She took it home, cared for it and it blossomed later and was just beautiful. Thanks for reviving a sweet memory.
A lovely present! A friend gave me a basket of paperwhite bulbs (packed just like the amaryllis in the video) as Christmas gift one year. It rained miserably that December, but the flowers came up and smelled like heaven indoors!
My mom found one of these at The Costco and gave it to my wife for her birthday. It's blooming now and has 8 flowers. This is good to know we can peel and plant them in the spring!
Loved the background Christmas music. You need to make a rooster version of jingle bells, you know, like the barking dog version that’s been out for years.
SO I ordered 3 amaryllis prior to Christmas. THe day after they arrived, I headed down to CA. When I came back, one was a tall stalk and am waiting for it to bloom. The other 2 are not as mature as the one, but are quite healthy! I currently have them in glass vases. I am so glad to have watched this video! They are just beautiful!
I love trader joes especially for their mini houseplants. I think the waxed concept is so cute, I have never seen that on a bulb. I learn something new daily. This is my first year planting amaryllis. I bought mine from a new grocery chain called Lidl which is the same owner as Aldi.
I love how creative you are, I have a dry decorative bone in my body 😅 , I wish I could so I like watching videos that show step by step on how to put things together so thank you very much.
I love amaryllis. Can't wait to see these growing. I am jealous but my over wintering rosemary, eucalyptus, bay laurel and passion flower plants are taking valuable realistate. Also my cala lilies & dahlia tubers, then indoor herb & lettuce gardens, & normal houseplants just out of space. Can't wait to see how these turn out for you.
Love this idea, I totally did the same thing with the basket I bought from thrift store, I also bought the bulbs from Trader Joe’s, now waiting for those beauties to bloom. 😃
Our Walmart got the regular potted ones, by the time I went they were all gone. Last year I bought about 10 in ceramic pots and they all bloomed so beautiful. I only saw them bloom in pictures cause was in hospital. Our daughter made sure we got to see them bloom. Some blooms were at least 8" in . It was a beautiful sight in my dining room. ✌️👍🌸🌸Walmart has them 3/$44.00 online
Brian have you heard that you should plant your orchids in medium bark or small bark depending on the variety. Moss is really only good for shipping to keep their roots moist but orchids really prefer to have their roots breathe. I’ve been raising orchids for 20 years.
When are you going to do a 'prep for spring gardening' video? I'm new to gardening and want to do things timely and correctly. Thanks! Love your videos!
Hi Brian, have you ever thought or had any experience growing indoors in the winter, I imagine that is not an issue in California. I live on Vancouver Island and the price of a head of lettuce costs $7.00 and it is small and going brown. I have been watching your videos for a year and really enjoy them. Last year I bought grow lights and shelves etc and started plants to go into my Dad's greenhouse and thanks to you had quite a bit of success. If you don't have any videos, do you know of anyone who has a channel that haves good info? Might be something to make a video on during the winter.
What a great idea - thanks. In the ground ain't workin' for Zone 5 :O), but, wondering if they can be in the ground for the summer and lifted like dahlias then rather than stored for the winter, repeat winter blooming process.
My late mother had so many of these in her flower box just beautiful and the bloom lasted for so long too! Brian when you put them in the ground do you remove the wax first or does it break down in the ground ? 🎄🎄 Happy Christmas to you and yours and your YT followers too
Love the way your basket looks. I have a question for you I started some lemon trees from seed this past summer what type of fertilizer should I give seedling trees?
Hi Brian, we certainly enjoy your channel and have learned a lot and applied many of your suggestions. As you may know, the deep freeze 🥶 has arrived here in the panhandle of Florida. What should I do to salvage my remaining green tomatoes on the vine before they completely freeze solid. Unfortunately, our covering attempt with a heat lamp failed. Thank you in advance for your response! Merry Christmas 🎄
I know this is off topic but here goes. I live in a remote community on Vancouver Island and the price of produce has shot through the roof. Do you have any advice for growing greens indoors in the winter. It would be great if you have or would make a video about growing indoors in the winter. I already have shelves and led grow lights and have used them successfully to start my outdoor plants for spring. Here's hoping that you can give some good advice and tips for growing indoors in the winter.
I'm sorry to change the subject, but I have a question, if I can squeeze it in. When I plant some vegetables like beets, turnips, carrots, etc. straight into the garden, when they come up the little plant is long and spindly and fall over. They continue to grow but lay over on the ground. Thank You
I realized I should have said that lol. It's basically to help it hold together and not just be dry and flake all over the place while you're packing it
In your Christmas video last year you said you wanted to have a second smaller Christmas tree on the other side of the living room so you can decorate with more sentimental trimmings. Did you do that this year? That video is one of my all time favorite videos. czcams.com/video/I9zvaiYVwa8/video.html
Would you leave them in ground in zone 6b?
I should have specified. Zones 8 through 10 they are Hardy. They do have some colder Hardy ones that will go down to 7

Came here to stay the same thing!

Thanks for reviving a sweet memory.
For a gift, it would be super cute to add some battery operated fairy lights around the edge of the basket!

Great idea! Love this simple gift! Thanks for sharing.....

What a beautiful & simple gift or decoration idea! Very nice. Thanks for sharing, Brian. Many blessings
Hey that’s pretty clever! You’re a handy guy to have around the house!! Don’t tell my wife or she’ll want me to do that stuff too!😁
you're adorable, thank you Brian!!
Thank YOU
Thank you for this type of video! A fun change up!
I was just given one of these and it’s growing and getting bigger. Thanks for sharing
Thank you so much for the idea. I remember my grandmother had a red one that bloomed every year.
What a great idea. My mother would love those. I must run to Trader Joe's and check to see if they have any. Thanks for another great idea.

I love them too! Never heard of tgat store before
Thanks Brian, great idea ! Z🎄🎄🎄🎄🎄❄️💚🙃

What a PERFECT idea ! Thank you ! The idea was a gift in itself .
Very good idea!
What temperatures can they tolerate ? Please show them when the bloom. Great gift idea. Thank you!❤️🌺
Love mine that I have had over 1 year. They are still producing for me.❤️
Love to them! They really are so pretty and bloom for a while 🤗🤗

Thank you for the idea
Love it!!!
Great idea! 💡

Thrift store is a great place to get stuff like that
Very nice, looking forward to a follow up video!!
That is so lovely, thanks Brian! ♥
Glad you like it!

How Cool. 👌 Thanks...You say you have orchids?!!! 🙌 Yes, video maybe? I'm next door in Arizona and grow many inside in 8b.
Those plumerias look really good. I just moved to zone 8a and am hoping to grow some again.
I love it! Thank you!! ❤🎄
You're welcome 😊
That is so cool! I never heard of those bulbs before. I'll have to look around here to see if anyone carries them.
Yes! You should
Mostly see them come out in fall so people can do what he is doing for decorating ❤😊

Oh.. I just put some on top of the bark for looks 😊
Lovely. What a nice variety of projects you have on your channel. I'm not likely to build a chicken coop, so this is more my speed. 😄
Wonderful!
❤️
When are you going to do a 'prep for spring gardening' video? I'm new to gardening and want to do things timely and correctly. Thanks! Love your videos!
Probably early Feb... thank you 😃

You will need to remove the wax so the bulb can grow roots.

That's different. Wonder if it works on any other bulbs.
I got one and after it bloomed I took the wax off and there were no roots. I put it in water and it grew roots so I planted mine.

WHy did you wet the moss if the bulbs don't need it? Thanks for the great idea.
Humidity probably
i'm
jn
zone 8b. We just had a hard freeze. Should i cut the foliage of my ginger plants now or wait for new growth?
I'm sorry to change the subject, but I have a question, if I can squeeze it in. When I plant some vegetables like beets, turnips, carrots, etc. straight into the garden, when they come up the little plant is long and spindly and fall over. They continue to grow but lay over on the ground. Thank You
Where do you get them from I'm in Ireland 🇮🇪
You haven't told us, did you get your second tree for all your memento ornaments?
We did!
Why did you wet the moss
Keep it from flying all over
what was the purpose of wetting the moss?
I realized I should have said that lol. It's basically to help it hold together and not just be dry and flake all over the place while you're packing it
@@NextLevelGardening Oh okay. That makes sense. I didn't think it was for the plants since they were incased in wax. Haha. Thanks.
Right 😁

czcams.com/video/I9zvaiYVwa8/video.html
Yes we did!
Why on earth don’t you have any videos on Poinsettias? I’d trust your videos on the subject over anyone else’s…
Well... I have only grown them at Christmas. But I will be adding some to the tropical garden so... coming soon!
You could have saved some money and just used one bag of moss on top of filler underneath. 😉
True 😂
