How do you know that magnesium and calcium "compete" to get into the plants??????

In Colorado, specifically Colorado Springs, and as long as you provide high NPK food and hide them from intense sun over 70 degrees, then they'll do very well. They'll catch diseases easily, but the food helps push them past it. The ones I have are Big Beef, and Beef Steak tomatoes. Pretty good honestly. Get a 10+ gallon pot to put them in, and be sure to setup an indoor garden with the lights for year round stuff.

I disagree about Diatomaceous earth. It has some uses, but in the garden it will kill earthworms. Also wear a mask, it’s dangerous to breathe

So I am way to cheap to buy the lumber you used. My trick... I went to the local saw mill and picked up an entire trailer-bed of cedar scraps. These are the round on one side flat on the other side waste left over after cutting lumber. The bundle cost a whopping 10 bucks. Being cedar, this untreated wood will last for years. Then I took some small rounds left over from my own cutting of cedar off the land, around 6-7 inches across and used those for my vertical supports to screw my side boards on. Because it is made from natural tree-trunks, it fits in perfectly with the land and it cost little more than the screws used to put it together.

I just finished building planter box hanging it off my deck railing . Plain wood used white stain the inside . 7 Inches wide and deep. Can I do same you did with 5 gal pot?

Sunflowers are easy. EXCEPT this year they do not want to sprout at all . I started indoors . Nothing . I started in a green house outside an it's may . Nothing . 😫 I think I have bad seeds ,even tho I just bought them . I give up . Good luck everybody . I hope your come up an make you happy 😊

my kids are grown and I have their old swingset is still sitting here. the previous owner built it and its extremely high and wide and chains are still hanging from it. I got a sturdy drain pipe and wired pipe to the chains going across , cherry tomato's now hang from this pipe with planters of full size tomato's underneath. I will be attaching each end of the pipe to the ground so that my cherry tomato's don't go flying off of plants when pipe swings with the chains. I bought long T-posts and using 1 of the metal frame poles of the swingset that's deep into the ground and attaching metal fencing with large holes and attaching other end to the T-post and placing a pot of whatever plant I have that climbs and needs support. up-cycling my kids swingset to make trellis and hanging cherry tomato's over head while something else is planted underneath when yard space is limited hahahahaha

Can I use Diatomaceous Earth and Aspire at the same time? I believe Earwigs are eating holes into my vegetable leaves. I'm seeing them in the house since the siding, walkway, and patio were power washed recently. I haven't seen any slugs yet this year but did get them last year. My vegetables/herbs are mostly in large planter boxes.

You need to go back to school evidently because tomatoes are not a vegetable they are a fruit.

Year 2 gardener- “overwintered” a bell pepper plant by doing a hard prune, and just left it in the bed… it’s coming back to life. Going to see if it’ll produce well this year :) I see flowers and new leaves already

I am very curious- did your grass come from near a lily field “drainfield” I would assume that it would smell organic and not like sewage? I may be wrong. I might have just got lucky. My grass clippings never smelled that way. They came from a bagger after mowing good 🐇 poo grass lol.

Dandelions don't freeze in cold, they rest and renew in spring. They grow in bad soil and will continue to grow till it actually makes the soil better. The root adds air to the soil because the root grows large for a few seasons. As the soil gets better , the plant will become smaller and smaller in size. Eventually die leaving healthy soil. It can be earths best friend if you allow it. Happy planting.

Much like the right to defend ourselves, growing our own food is a basic human right. Anyone that tells you different is not your friend.

I tried the double cup method this year and one video recommended using a string to act as a wick. Outstanding results!
