      There must have been times Stephen just switched off listening to Jonny. Way too intense and most of what he says doesn’t even make sense, just lots of words put together in an odd way.

    i didn't expect that from a Wilkinson interview, what a spiritual journey there ! "there is no consequence in the Now, cause there's no Then, there is just Now", "there is no Me trying to achieve something, there is just a full experience of now."

    Steven, thank you for having Jonny as a guest. I'm on a bit of a journey at the moment and you are both very inspiring people. What Jonny said about regret is a goal of mine - I currently have many but need to put them in the box marked "experience", instead. It's actually really difficult, but there are a few in there now. Thank you for all you do, you're helping this frightened part-time artist towards his ultimate goal of becoming a confident full-time artist and I appreciate you for it.

    So many of these podcasts bring you down to earth. No amount of fame or money brings happiness. Your wealth is your loved ones and the days you spend together. We have become so lost in what success means in life. Far to many people trade fast cars and nice watches for memories with loved ones.
    We're not here for long, choose wisely.💙

    Jonny's greatest achievement (in my opinion... tongue in cheek) is going to Toulon and being loved by French fans - as an Englishmen. He would do all his interviews in French and you can't put a price of soaking up the culture and having a rugby dynasty built around you. Changed rugby holistically. When you consider he had to call his mum when he first went to the supermarket to ask if he needed his passport to pay - You can't help but have a rye smile. What a man, what a rugby player and what a great mind. Thanks Steven, loved this.

    I very much enjoyed this. Many years ago I worked within rugby as nutritionist here in Ireland. I had the opportunity to attend the lions camp in Wales. It must have been 2009. Normally there is a skittishness amongst the seriousness. The Irish lads all joking was I spying on them. I noticed Johnny outside in the gardens. Alone. Him and a rugby ball weaving around the hotel flower beds. I noticed him. He appeared different. Deep thinking. Gosh I would have loved to have talked. I very much admire and respect his mind. Wonderful podcast. Resonates deeply. Not easy to share these deep inner thoughts but it shines a light for others. Thank you.

    • @cullenac
      @cullenac Před 2 lety +5

      @@marcusboxall7383 gosh it is so long ago! ok my observations. firstly as a 5ft 2 female that was similar to their age at the time these lads have HUGE energy that they and many around them probably don't understand. If i was back working in this field now i would encourage the lads to learn to understand their energy and from here the power that this energy has. both ON and OFF the pitches. Its a force. ive actually frozen solid giving my own team a lecture (munster rugby) which was the biggest most mortifying experience of my professional life. their energy is just enormous. it was like a wall of energy dressed in red team kit lol coming at me and i froze. ridiculous but i am very sensitive to stuff like this. secondly, they are very much constantly told what to do. be her, be there, dress in this kit, eat this... just constantly TOLD. So many of them used humour a lot in the team room. to my peril lol. I think finding identity in yourself and as the team athlete probably very important here too. At the end of the day they rocked at sport and as athletes, life is probably way more complex. and the stronger lads all generally had amazing wives and partners... that saying is true... there will be a strong woman there in the background believeing in them and enabling them to just get on with the training. (or partner). so funny enough it is the life stuff that strikes out in my memory and i only wish i has more balls myself to speak up and support them better and believe in myself more even though i was only their nutritionist. not sure that helps!! they are human after all. and it was an honour to work in rugby for those 4 golden years i had with munster rugby.

    I've always wondered about the 'success' of major sports stars. It must be weird to reach the pinnacle in your early to mid 20s and then never have anything else match that high for the rest of your life. Your playing career lasts 15 years if you're lucky. Then what? Sure many then go into coaching or media etc, but nothing ever replaces that buzz of being on the pitch/court.

    20:43 totally relate. it's realizing that unconciously your "inner child/self" is holding onto an interweaved sense of security that is consolidated from a framework of insecurities. the answer to this is not becoming aware of every insecurity at once. but in accepting, trusting, and promising your younger self that you will take it along this journey of life and with it seek to animate those insecurities to integrate it into a higher sense of self and who "you" truly are - that's what it means to live in "good faith" and the function of "tell the truth," as Dr. Peterson may put it.

    I don't know why, but almost emptiness, loneliness, and crisis, were experienced by people who already have the top of their lives. I think something is missing in our life. So what's the point of reaching the top if what we get is emptiness, and loneliness?

    The last 7 podcasts have all focused on mindset and mental health. This podcast is beginning to seem more like The Diary of a Therapist.

    It would be ace if you could get Tyson Fury on the show when he is not actively fighting. I know Tyson has told his story to lots of people but you seem to get the extra layer from your guests.
