  • Live review of the SVS SB-2000 Pro - I am testing music today and am giving my thoughts on the SB 2000 Pro subwoofer. You should grab a pair of decent headphones for this test!
    Also in this test is the ported subwoofer (XTZ 12.17 Edge). We are also testing the difference between a ported vs sealed subwoofer for music. Is there a major difference?
    See my other video on how good the SVS SB-2000 Pro is for movies (link in the video and on my channel).

    Hope you enjoyed the video.
    I am hoping to do a proper review on these subwoofers, but I thought I'd share these live demos aswell.
    Do you like these? Please kindly let me know in the comments!
    More subwoofer reviews coming - hope to be going back to speaker reviews at some point!
    Have a couple of RELs coming, another mystery SVS (oooh!) and a ported Arendal (ooooh again!).
    Take a look at my playlist on subwoofers!

    i'm playing this video on a system that uses my own SB-2000, way older than the Pro but comparably spec'd overall, and the XTZ sounds much better here, too.
    what's actually happening here, if this is possible?

    I think you could have tested the xtz with both ports plugged and added it to the comparison, so it would have been more accurate comparison between ported vs sealed subwoofer. I think this video is more comparing these two subs than comparing sealed vs ported to music.
    This is still good comparison, but I think that would have added some more to this comparison. :)

      @propercushty  Před 2 lety

      of course you can test these subs so many different ways.
      The reason I tested this way is because that is how my subwoofer is set up for movies.
      The other reason is because the idea was we are comparing a ported subwoofer to a sealed - if you block the ports then the subwoofer doesn't sound like a ported anymore

    The first couple of tracks sounded a little bit too tinny for my liking but when you whacked on the xtz that sounded a whole lot nicer
    I would imagine it would have sounded a whole lot nicer again if the xtz had an exact matching partner, I remember when I first experienced my first Rel subwoofer, I thought to myself yeah that sounds sweet but it's only when I gave it, it's matching partner that I realised what I had been missing!
    Btw next time pan the camera around... not only for us to have a look at the high quality mic but more importantly to view the environment!
    Love your videos keep them coming bro 👍👍👍

      @propercushty  Před 2 lety

      yeah the xtz definitely has a bit more bass weight when calibrated. Of course, these speakers aren't really an ideal matching pair - but it's more of a stress test I guess. If either of these subs can partner well with small speakers like the Teufels, then larger speakers crossed over lower should be alot easier.
      Thanks for the advice - tbh the camera has such bad low light performance that the only place I can point it is the TV! Everywhere else the image is way too noisy for my liking lol!
      I'll see what I can do in future videos :)

      @@propercushty I upgraded from the SB-2000 (non-Pro) to the SB-3000 about a year ago. Big differences, for the better. I think you’ll really like the SB-3000, especially for music. Try to get some quality audiophile mains for your review, if you can! The 3000 goes extremely well with the SVS Prime or Ultra bookshelf speakers. Also love the 3000 with my P3 ESR XD’s. Looking forward to your review!

      @@justinbyrne5736 yes. I drive them with the Yamaha A-S2200. 90 watts per channel into 8 ohms, and 150 watts into 4 ohms. Harbeth’s are setup near-field so plenty of power. They do like the “juice”!

    From what l heard, think XTZ Subwoofer sounded better to my ears, it was easier to listen to.
    SVS just had an annoying thumping noise, which l could not put up with for long, takes you away from the music.
    XTZ blended better with the music

    • @propercushty
      @propercushty  Před 2 lety

      yes, I think that's an accurate statement
