    This looks like a good way to get lead in your lungs. I could be wrong but I would have drilled out the lead and okum once you do that the flange comes out very easily. And the only tools you need is a drill, drill bits, punch, and a hammer.

      Sure...agreed....when you pound on the flange...I worry about busting the waste pipe.....

    Are you doing damage under the floor by pounding on the flange like that.?

      No, this cast iron pipe is pretty thick. I could of done more cutting and less pounding.

      Lead and Oakum packing. It looks like he pulled most of it out with that last piece of the flange the pried out, the little bits and pieces that remained fell on that little 'shelf' area around the pipe in the floor (the subfloor?). Vacuum them up and you're ready to fit in the new flange.

      Its one sheet vinyl flooring, I installed nice gray modern click Lock vinyl planks over it.
