I love CZcams handymen who don't speak like they're high or drunk or Forrest Gump. Extremely well done. I would have used masonry bits but otherwise good. Never see those flanges before; excellent innovation. Thanks.
We appreciate that, thank YOU! We agree 100%, this innovation is pretty neat. 😎👍

Thanks for the clear instruction! You have motivated me to fix my wobbling toilet in a permanent fashion, rather than remake the silly plywood platform that was under the toilet when we bought the house.

Methinks a multi tool would make cutting the old flange off easier; would go nicely along with your dremel technique.
Appreciate this video! I had to replace my toilet today (first time every doing this) and my closet flange was too high. Unfortunately, after I cut it off, i realized the existing concrete subfloor was chipped away quite a bit where the concrete fasteners were supposed to go, making the ones I bought too short to reach it. I suppose the proper way would be to pour a little bit of concrete, let it cure, and drill into the new material. However, I simply bought longer fasteners and was able to screw the flange in just fine. Glad I found your video - I didn't know about the twist-n-set flanges. It worked like a charm!
Thanks for watching and sharing your experience. We are very honored you took the time to write us.

I was scrolling down for this post 😂😂😂 no one else noticed. Killed the drill bit after first insert. I’m a plumber and he did a B+ job but you see the rookie come out of him here
Two story townhome built by lennar homes. Bottom half bath had flange above tile floor. Toto Drake II toilet didn't like it. Then I discovered the flange wasn't screwed into ground, it was glued instead into the other pipe. Had to resort to using a glue gun and then pried it off. House projects never seem to go easy peasy and ends up being an all day learning experience.
We appreciate you sharing this, that sounds like a task worth making a DIY project out of. Have you already completed project or are you just beginning?
Let us know if you have any questions and we are looking forward to hearing back from you. 👍🧰
Project completed, but considering some tweaks, like aligning the toilet better. Ended 2023 with a face full of tile dust. 🎉 Wrestling with my new Toto toilet made for an unexpected adventure. Dealing with a stubborn flange glued to the sewer pipe led to using a heat gun, saw, and creating a tile dust tornado - who knew plumbing could be so entertaining? 😅 My home projects always seem to involve multiple trips to Home Depot. Don't know what I would do without CZcams to guide me.
I used a leveler out of curiosity and noticed the tile floor wasn't perfectly level. Managed to remove the old flange with a heat gun, used a grinder to trim tiles, and a Dremel to cut away the inner sewer pipe. Though I didn't get the inner pipe perfectly flush with the surrounding tile, it seemed to pass the test. No wobbly toilet, securely fastened to the floor. Opted for 'Fluidmaster Better Than Wax' instead of a messy wax gasket; time will tell how it holds up. Previously used Danco Perfect Seal Toilet Wax Ring for another toilet replacement upstairs, where the flange was below the tile. It included a wax ring and was more forgiving than standard wax rings. One more toilet to replace in my kids' bathroom upstairs.

I have never seen a rubber seal flange like this. The tiles should have been contoured (use a grinder and diamond wheel) to fit the round flange, otherwise a great video.

This is one of the many standard replacement flanges available at big box home stores or any other stores specializing in plumbing. It is made by Oatey. "4 in. PVC Twist-N-Set Open Toilet Flange". At our orange store, it is $26.36. Not cheap, but it is such a time saver.
No. flanges should sit on top of finished floors.
What would you recommend if the toilet elbow sits like an inch and a half above the finished floor? I’d worry about cutting so much of the pvc.
Thanks for watching & welcome to the DIY Raptor Club. Is this a brand new install or have you recently removed a toilet that was compatible with the set up?

At the end of the video he mentions that if you ever need to remove the flange, for example, to change the tile, you can remove screws, pull it right up, do your thing, then align put it in place and screw, and your done.
what if the flange is metal? Same thing?

I'm working with a 45 year old flange that will not budge. The flange sat about 1/2" above the subfloor (the builder cut a big square hole and put down the carpet, then put flange on top of carpet anchoring it to nothing.) After 2 days of using 2 different hack saws and a sawzall I have most of the flange down to the level of the pipe which is about an inch below the subfloor. I have made several vertical cuts but whatever was used to glue in that flange is not budging. Any suggestions?
carpet... in a bathroom? gross. Cast iron drain? it's probably leaded in. just have to grind it away. Easier to just use a retrofit fix a flange device.
did he just use a steel bit to drill masonry??? That bit is done...

My flange is on top of the floor and the toilet still doesn't sit right
Good morning ☕️
Is flange flush with floor? Is floor level? It’s very unlikely that the toilet is out of specs…shape-wise.
Another cause can be that the toilet is ever-so-slightly offset when place into position on top of flange. Keep us posted.
