Nah dude Tyranitar still sucks in this format. It's just that the Pokemon kinda fits in Zhang's team.
Even if Tyranitar becomes unviable, it either won’t go down without a fight or pull a last memorable hurrah
@@gigadrill1835 i wouldn’t say t-tar sucks, it just doesn’t fit on many teams. it’s unique typing + solid stat spread and ability lets it do things other mons can’t, like almost singlehandedly checking indeedee armarouge.
My boi! He really is the underdog. Imagine debuting in a gen with 4 legendary fairy types as a Dragon/Fighting.
And he would have been so good back in Gen 5
Kommo-o became better without using it's signature moves. Probs to this guy for winning a tournament with a unexpected strategy!
Wouldn't say better, but different. This is more of a defensive approach vs an offensive approach. Both setup, but different playstyles.

To be fair, most of the time, they are gonna figure out it's a Zoraoark the turn it gets to click a move unless they just choose to ignore it for a while.
Ironpress is not an unexpected strategy. It's been around since Reg C-D, using Tera Fairy H.Goodra

I love how buffed Kommo-o has gotten since its introduction, before UsUm Kommo-o was exactly what I was afraid of it being with a far bulkier and slower stat spread than I expected, which is a death sentence for anything weak to fairy already. But with its Z-move, Clangorous Soul and now Tera, I couldn't be happier
Don't forget Kommo-o also had the hindrance of an awful movepool when first introduced. Limited coverage, limited STAB options as well. 1 year later and Kommo-o received possibly the most insane movepool buff of any Pokemon, alongside its exclusive Z-move, and Gamefreak has continued to buff it since. In singles it's been solid ever since UsUm because it's just too versatile; and now to hear it's good in VGC too is just great!
Kommo-o has been getting tools from every gen since his release and onwards. I didn’t like his design at first ngl, but mf has been growing on me and totally deserves all the attention is getting now
Kommo-o has been one of my top pseudos for a while now. I always flip back and forth between him and Metagross. I'm ecstatic to see VGC put some respect on my boy's name. I hope Kommo-o can maintain this momentum in Reg E and make it to a top spot in the WC.
Loving the "off-meta" picks suddenly becoming totally and completely meta (Ttar, Kommo-o.) it's really fun to break up the monotony of a meta and these guys are doing it at the top of the game!!
Reg E has been wild. Everything from Weakness Policy Ursaluna to Scream Tail Sun to Staraptor Trick Room has been showing up to these tourneys. Sacremento was one of the best tourneys I've ever watched.
The kitikami prologue taught me not to underestimate kommo, I thought I'd sweep with ursaluna BM but nope, every match with a kommo-o was a loss

And kommo-o has been one of my favorite designed pseudo legends and with all the buffs it got from gen 8, I just knew that in a format without dynamax, it can really pop off. But i never knew that in the next generation, it would also have access to a new mechanic that really solves its main issues which is mainly being very weak to fairy attacks
This makes me happy because Kommo-o is my favorite pokemon and I really love using it in Pokemon Showdown, regardless how many times I win or lose

Big fan of Kommo-o, I use it alongside Friend Guard Vivillon with Belly Drum, Iron Head, Drain Punch and Earthquake! Sitrus Berry to get the health back and Pollen Puff on Vivillon to ensure that it tanks anything on following turns. Tera Steel, of course
What moveset, item and EV your Vivillon has?
@@nickgan8001 sorry, didn't see your reply! 252 Speed, and your choice of either max HP or max Special attack, focus sash for the item, and Pollen Puff, Sleep Powder/Rain Dance, Air Slash/Hurricane/Light Screen, and Tailwind are the moves I run depending on the situation I want to prepare for! I wish it got Rage Powder
I use the exact same set for Kommo-o (no Vivillion though) and I have the ability Overcoat to avoid Spore Amoonguss and clear amulet because I have Clangorous Soul. It's been working pretty well.

I really like pokémon like Kommo-o simply because it's one of those few cases where there's genuinely no real answer to what the "best" set is, It's so incredibly versatile that you honestly can't go wrong unless you try really hard to.
I enjoyed this quick meta spotlight format! And man I was not expecting to hear 'tera blast psychic Tyranitar' today.
Honestly thought it would have Overcoat to avoid it's own chip, but Tera Steel along with Leftovers + Grassy Terrain does show me why it doesn't need Overcoat. Plus, like you said, walls out Flutter Mane.

If I could give any feedback it would be to perhaps include on-screen descriptions of things like the Bulletproof abilty (i.e just the ability description) to make your content slightly more accessible. I've always liked Kommo-o since it's different than the pretty typical pseudo-legendary dragon dance sweepers which makes it more interesting in my eyes.

Never underestimated why I liked Kommo-o because of it's utility and build diversity due to it's stats, though I very much adore Hisuian Goodra because of Shell Armor & Sap Sipper making it stick around, especially behind screens.

Another huge benefit is that bullet proof and Tera Steel also walls out Goldhengo and it's Fighting + Dragon typing means it resists both of Chi Yu's stabs, meaning all the really scary special attackers couldn't really hurt it while physical attsckers did no damage after a single iron defense, and considering most Heatran were Tera Fairy, it definitely didn't want to stand in front of this thing as it would either be hit hard with body press or iron head.
