Feels like a long time since I uploaded. I haven't committed to the 3 day schedule again because I'm busy with other things. With regards to this run, It was weak compared to his future ones. Punk didn't feel like a huge deal in the land of giants. What did you think of his 1st title reign?

CM Punk’s first World Title reign set the tone of how management viewed him: they only went with him because the person they originally wanted to go with screwed up (Jeff Hardy in 2008, The Miz in 2011). And they made sure that although he was champion, he and the championship better take a backseat to the “real stars” (Jericho, Michaels, Cena and Batista in 2008, Cena and The Rock in 2011-2013)
They were right.

@@lilsm0ke861 he was completely overshadowed by Cena/Rock (i.e. he was the third wheel despite being WWE Champion in his own WrestleMania main event) and the Cena/Miz match was a flaming disaster. Punk avoided being overshadowed by them despite being presented as a notch below them when he interacted with them.
And before anyone says it, look at Raw after the 2009 Draft to shortly after WrestleMania XXVII. The Miz was getting a ton of TV time, was the one guy outside of Cena, Orton and Triple H that was rubbing elbows with the celebrity guest hosts, was cutting killer promos (for the time), and won the tag titles, US title, MitB and the WWE Title all within the span of a year. Its very obvious that looking back Miz was originally meant for the spot CM Punk got in 2011 - 2013 (holding the WWE Title as the #2 guy while Cena was outside the title picture). Miz, despite losing some of his heat against Jerry Lawler, was the company’s top heel coming into WrestleMania XXVII (Alberto Del Rio was #2, Michael Cole and the stupid laptop was #3, Punk was #4 or 5 depending on if you felt Cole and the laptop were separate or together).

The cash in itself was a great moment. I remember watching it live when I was like 11 going crazy, but his while reign was kinda lackluster cuz he got overshadowed by guys like Cena and Batista.
I barely remember the run. It just doesn't stand out compared to the other things at the time.

I think his run, didn't mean much because he had no victories over any notable guys at the time, besides Batista. Now if they had him beat John Cena, Randy Orton, HBK or Triple H maybe he would have been over as a champion, but they sent him against the upper mid card not the top guys. It was similar to Rey Mysterio's run with the belt, where he was squashed by every super heavyweight on the roster at the time, they should've had Rey as the ultimate underdog giant killer, but they just gave him the belt for the most part for the Remember Eddie was his friend/ R.I.P. Eddie storyline, where he lost most matches and gave I miss you Eddie/ this for you promos. WWE's booking lost its luster at the time, due to them turning PC, and getting rid of the fun booking of the Attitude/Ruthless Aggression Eras.

My thoughts exactly it was a short run that had plenty of potential but there was too much going on around this time for it to be memorable. Batista and Cena, Edge and Taker, Jericho and HBK, Jeff Hardy and Triple H, Orton forming legacy. As much as I love all those guys the problem was they just kept trading dance partners with each other in the spotlight while guys like Kofi Kingston, The Brian Kendrick, MVP, Kennedy, Miz, and Morrison and others who had potential at this time were mostly left on the sidelines and whenever they were put in the picture it went absolutely nowhere. Matt Hardy and Christian were stuck on the sinking ship known as ECW. The women's division wasn't at all being taken seriously and the tag team action was declining s well. There was a fine line between who they wanted you to care about at this time and everybody else. CM Punk was the one person right in the middle probably because they needed a back up guy for whenever Jeff screwed up.

Cm punk first reign as world heavyweight champion wasn't all that great due to the fact at that time he was overshadow by the top stars on Raw at the time he rarely main evented as the top champion he was basically still seen as a mid card guy just carrying a top championship til he dropped to one of the top guys.
To be honest focusing back on this reign it should’ve really happened down the line because this reign was strange I think if they focused more on Punk’s character it should’ve been better.Punk and JBL feud should’ve really tested Punk’s beliefs.JBL wanting to pay Punk for the World Title to buy it from him thinking that Punk wasn’t worthy of the World Title because to him he would always be a boy with JBL saying that Punk didn’t want to grow out of being pure and not embracing the American Way with the beauty of beer and cigars.JBL even drinking a beer in front of Punk and Punk who would shockingly drink a beer only to spit it in the face of JBL.Punk would become more edgy on the mic criticizing JBL’s history in the WWE talking about his history in bullying backstage.Punk would defeat JBL to retain his World Title.Punk and Edge feud would really focus on both Punk and Edge criticizing each other and Punk having a Triple Threat match with Undertaker and Edge for the World Title.

This was my first cash in I seen because I started watching wwe in 2008. Even then I don’t think people really caught on to what was going on because the briefcase was still relatively new. I was like, why is CM Punk coming out? Then he won the belt, and because I’m from Chicago, I not only became I fan of his but got hooked to wrestling even more because of how crazy the show could get.
Most people in the comments doesn’t like punk because of the Jeff hardy thing when I’m reality he was going to be fired anyways they jus had to find a way to get him out
this reign was not memorable, seeing him again I just feel that it was not the right time for cm punk on the other hand 2009 was definitely the right time for him unfortunately there was this stupid story of suit.
And yet I hated that he beat Jeff Hardy and I was glad that Taker beat him but looking back at it it was stupid to have him take the title away from Taker or at least he wouldn't to lose by appearing so weak in HIAC 2009.
