      @kevinseverine2528 Před 11 dny +23

      @@vibovitold That is inaccurate for at least 2 reasons:
      - There is a 3500 dollars as a reward for the haft point, furthermore begins 4th (which would result in even less prize money).
      - Furthermore chess is not blunder proof... And Ian wasn't really playing for a draw, because he had some occasion to dry out the position that he did not jump over... Fabi was in time trouble and a mistake in a complex position is not impossible even for a player like Fabi. And it can help to recover from the tournament knowing you have give it your best.
      Considering the money aspect alone, which is not huge but still exist, he has not interest whatsoever in giving the win to Fabi...
      The harsh aspect of chess is also that in the end Fabi played really poorly for a player of his strength and did not win the game, period. I do feel sorry for him, but that doesn't help the fact that he did not win, when he could have and basically had to.

    I think Fabi will find it harder to swallow. Over the last 10-11 years, he has been easily the second best chess player in the world, the third highest rated chess player in history, and the closest to come to Magnus's level in Classical. After Magnus, if anyone deserved to be the World Champion from this generation, it had to be Fabi. But both Nepo and Fabi are still kind of young and very much in their prime, especially Fabi (31 years). They can still come back and win it.

      In case of this tournament Nepo was doing excellent from the start though, in the top spot almost until the end, whereas Caruana was underperforming initially and only began catching up later on, scoring 3 wins (and a draw) in 4 consecutive games, which is quite a streak.

    Nepo may draw the game earlier but he pushed for win in all ways that helps fabi winning at the end fabi unstable due to time and endsup a draw...fabi resilent nepo a warrior.Its always onside happiness and another side sadness but here both ends with sadness.

    They both played to win. A must-win game is always filled with beginner-like mistakes. They both played professionally and did not wanna compromise. Gukesh is ahead deservedly. The game of chess is the most dignified and chivalrous game thanks to Nepo and Fabi, and all the other players playing in the Candidates 2024. Best tournament

    Seldom seen such decent reporters. Instead of asking nasty or annoying questions like in other sports to get some kind of reaction for headlines, everyone refrains from asking questions because they know that the two of them absolutely don't feel like asking questions at the moment. Thumbs up.

    7:40 is genuinely the worst question I’ve heard asked to anyone in a chess press conference (and there’s been a lot of bad ones in the last 4 or 5 years, for some reason especially at recent WCC related event). Look at how Ian reacts when she interrupts them to ask a question relating to Hikaru’s opinion of destiny rather than THE GAME THEY JUST PLAYED, and frequently interrupts them thereafter. No taste, not about the chess, just cheap and unprofessional.

    • @santoshk1983
      @santoshk1983 Před 11 dny +1

      They should've replaced her after day one. Literally zero tact in interviews. But then its FIDE, so of course they kept her.

    • @duaflip
      @duaflip Před 10 dny

      @@santoshk1983 I mean truthfully, to hire her (contact, agreements, etc.) and then immediately get rid of her would be even more unprofessional, and to be fair I’m certain she tried her best. It’s more on the organizers and/or FIDE for not finding the right folks for the job. I remember during the 2018 World Championship we had Daniel King doing the press conferences and he was fantastic. Even the 2016 World Championship the press conferences were great, and you’d only expect silly questions or lack of perspective from the journalists. It’s frustrating because there must be more out there (like Daniel King, prime example) who are simply better suited for the job. Even Tania Sachdev, who from what I remember of the last 6 years has had some silly questions herself, would’ve likely been better. I think even Levy Rozman would’ve done a better job, and I’m not partial to him! I mean no disrespect to anyone but it’s just so frustrating to listen to and see the game essentially have a mockery made of it, especially at our most prestigious events
