You can see their emotions, they both knocked over some pieces, Nepo knocked a piece off the table in devastation and Ding knocked a piece over not believing he just won. Amazing stuff
Nepo was almost going to throw a bottle to the wall when he walked off the table but he controlled himself in the last moment. Damn what a match that was.
@@jtekholm he was doing brilliantly for the past 2 weeks, and to see all that crumble down in the final 2 minutes… heart wrenching
@@jtekholm Not his bottle but his mobile phone 10:11
@@pankajparihar9557 ah yes, the random mobile phone spawning in the world championship gambit
@@pankajparihar9557 Yeah, you're right. I just saw him about to launch something. :D I'm glad he restrained himself in the end.
9:41 The way Ian pushed the pieces off the table, you can see all the emotions he's going through, damn I feel bad for him.
his hand is shaking so hard its like crippled
Que miras bobo !
I've watched that so many times. it looks like some movie stuff: he's been defeated, he can't fathom it, the pieces crumble and even the hand shaking. it's seriously crazy how much it looks like a movie shot, it's almost chilling...
...ding chilling
@@xbenci chess players when they discover that movies are indeed based on real humans
Bro, he is dollar millionaire
That entire behavior from Nepo when it all came through his mind he lost looked like a man truly devastated. That passion in that single moment was something i might remember for a long time
The thrill of victory and agony of defeat.. like the old Olympic game commercials
Well it's also 2 million euros
@@Shtikface The winner after tiebreaks only gets 60%. Do you think he was that sad over 20%? It’s about the title. A world champion with a good book deal is better than any other tournament winner with a €2M prize pot
@@Shtikface He got 800k (Ding got 1200k). It's not about the money.
@@A1937CX i thought the prize pool was 55-45 to the winner?
I dont know how i feel during the last minute. Nepo is really a goodman. And seeing a goodman losing is very frustrating. But Ding is also a goodman and seeing him with the thropy is very satisfying.
you can see the pressure they'er feeling. even ding...all stoic... then collapses in relief. beautiful moment. to just be with himself as it sets in...man... for all the joking about the "mockery" this would be, this moment, really makes them legit chess legends.
I mean that is how most championship work there is always a side that win and one that lose. It is always brutal whether it is sports, chess or etc, it is heartbreaking for those who lose.
Nepo did not congratulate the winner and called it a lottery! Nepo good man?!!
@@rathinaveluthiruvenkatam610 Yes he is a good man
@@rathinaveluthiruvenkatam610 He was arrogant a bit truly lol throughout the world championship, that's why Ding was destined to win!
Ding is one of the sweetest humans alive and I'm so happy he pushed through. Ian did very well too and I'd give him a WCC title too if I could; gl to the both of them in future endeavors
watching through this vid was stresful

And it's not like Ian can 't play another WC match. He's still in great form and can challenge Ding again.
@@Micas099 Magnus barely made it on his path to world championship. Nepo really got lucky in the candidates this time as it was more other players self-destructing. It will be harder if the other SGMs are back in form for Nepo to challenge again.
I love the beginning, Tania and Fabi, "Rg6 is not a move"..."Rg6 looks like a losing move".... 🤣😂🤣 Ding plays Rg6.
Right 😂 that's why they're watching with the rest of us instead of playing for the title 😂
Caruana is on avg the second best player in the last 10 years i would say.
@@dasurmel1424 In this game Fabiano realised why he wasn't a world champion, he wasn't willing to take risks. If Fabiano was there in place of ding he would've gone for a draw
@@preetam3710 True...but also true that Caruana played against Carlsen which is able to see how in 40 moves he will have a pawn just one little step forward...hence transforming a +0.01 in a win
Nepo and Ding are not that analytical...that's also why we had such an amazing tournament (compared to the super boring Carlsen vs Caruana)
@@andreacarboni9501 at that time saying "He's playing against magnus" wasn't as big of a deal. Obviously magnus was still the favourite, but both had very very similar ratings at the time. This game I agree, with enough time Ian would have spotted a draw, but ding decided to go for it as he himself was virtually at no risk. But even under such conditions fabi wanted a draw, when there was 99% no risk for black of losing
That desperation and powerlessness is devastating. And for Ding this is one of the greatest stories of triumph I’ve ever seen.
That was like end of a long war. One king is so tired cant even celebrate. The other was so anxious and devastated when he figured he cant defend the castle anymore. Fascinating.
09:37 the way he looked at the trophy 😢
This is the most intense, raw emotion I have ever seen from 2 people just sitting across from each other. Even when Ding won, there is no celebration for he is purely stunned, his mind ravaged.
Congrats to Ding! First Chinese to win the world chess championship is crazy feat to accomplish
He should send magnus a fruit basket
@@shwnusmc119 Yeah, lol
what a great feat for an asian you mean?
how is that even possible right?
talk about a back handed compliment.
Not the first, there were a few women champions before Ding.
@@user-vc5qk9tg7u stop reaching
When Ian was staring at the camera, it wasn’t the camera he was staring at, it was the trophy for the championship. This was prolly his biggest chance to win it and he just stared at it cause it still wasn’t his kinda heartbreaking
who cares about some dumb trophy
Yes, and because he's been there before, against Magnus, and this time, against Ding... And he still didn't manage to win 😢 I was rooting for Ding, because I normally wants to see the underdogs to win, but Nepo is clearly the better player (most of the time), from the candidates and from previous 14 games, he was always the one leading, but he always couldn't find the finishing blow and Ding escaped from heavy injuries so many times, but in the end they drew the results of the 14 games and Ding managed to win one game in rapid and he's now the World champion... I was hoping that this year would be Nepo's and perhaps the next year Ding can win the candidates again and challenge Nepo AGAIN to win the WCC then!! So heartbreaking for Nepo!!
This year indian prodigy vidit won against him
The moment he knows it’s over when all the captured pieces end up on the floor is heartbreaking!
He lost against Carlsen but got another chance against someone who is not Carlsen but still lost. That must be devastating...
sounds like a skill issue
@@catherinesmith950git gud?
Yeah I wonder how many runner ups will he get before conceding that maybe he just lacks that final spark to go all the way. Rating isn't everything on that stage. Ian 100% would not have played rg6 if roles were reversed.
@@catherinesmith950shut up dude if you played him he would absolutely cook you up like a steak he’s put in so much work just to lose come on man put some respect on my boys name

“Self-pinning for immortality”
9:30 Ding feels sorry to have to win.
This moment, seeing how ding could barely enjoy the victory due to nepo’s immense devastation, made me finally realize why magnus refused to defend his title
These last ten minutes of the championship games can't be described in words. After watching most of the games it felt wild to see it go down like this. Thinking about the journey Nepo and Ding has been through to get to that moment I kinda understand the extreme emotional reactions.
Ding probably glanced at his two passed pawns one too many times, just enough to inspire such a brave decision to 'go for it' rather than accept the repetition with a nobody wins result of a draw. What a surprise and amazing chess game, easily one of the greatest World Championship Chess games ever played! How entertaining and fun to watch! Great play by Nepo and Nepo has nothing to prove (similar to Magnus) as he has competed for World Chess Champion twice all ready! Wow! ..Congrats to Ding Liren, our new World Chess Champion! What a brave winning soul!
It wasn't risky, black was in no position to lose
9:37 The moment of truth hit hard
they're not on a level of dings mastery of calculation.. thats why they assume its going to blitz lol.. ding be like nah i'm up material kids.. 😁
They think that because Ding has been inactive since 2019. They forgot he was No2, undefeated for 100 classical games in a row. Final playoff Sinquefield cup 2019, Ding-Carlsen in blitz is the best game I have ever watched live. Ding played one of the best move ever, depth 100. I became a Ding fan that day. czcams.com/video/TJr1L87vfHA/video.html

@@cheya111 I knew he was going to become world champion at some point watching his games felt like watching Capablanca's games.
That self pinning though to avoid checks brilliant
Commentators: "Nooo! You can't play Rg6!"
King Liren: "Observe."
Couldn't have been more emotional ending than this. 😢
Ian losing absolutely broke my heart even though through the entire series my heart said Ding 💔 I am torn between the two and pray they play again while Magnoos waits in his lair until the true champion emerges 😤
So tough seeing Nepo shaking as he makes his final move. Great Chess from both competitors, really too bad someone had to lose.
10:11 reminds me of Socrates statue 'the thinker', perhaps 'the winner' that one shot sums up the whole tournament, amazing!
wow watching nepo shaking was heart breaking.
amazing chess from both players both fought hard
Damn the emotions were so big here. Epic game. Great championship.
Just watching Ian process it all, knowing he was going to lose, gave me major secondary anxiety.
Who put the fallen pieces back to the table again? Fiyuh, the way those black pieces got swept over by Ian is the most dramatic moment. Felt like watching a convict slump to the ground after being shot in an execution.
I have saw some life sentences handed out that looked like that. Sad stuff.
Not really knowing either of them it seemed like Nepo was going to dominate in blitz but Ding pulling it off makes my heart so much more happy ❤
You can tell Ding came here to win and was not going for a draw with Rg6. He probably figured that he has a lot of winning chances with the passed pawns
Liren decision was stupidly wrong. The black rook was pinned, and he had only one min on the clock. in case of finishing time, the winner was Nepo. Interestingly, Nepo played a losing move right after Liren's losing decision. therefore it was just a gambling (bet) show.
Calm down man the eval bar didn't show rook g6 as a losing move so calm down 3000 rated player 😂😂😂
@@sharfuddinmohammed77 too many zeroes on that rating mate
@@milad7764 blitz would have been a challenge and ding had a good chance of drawing the game later
@@milad7764 No it wasnt with 2 pass pawns ian has more difficult moves to play than ding and psychologically speaking with the pressure and shock at dings move its just hard to play for ian. We have had the pleasure of witnessing ione of the greatest world championships ever!
it is a huge credit to both players, although it may take Ian some time to see that.
Happy for Ding, even more happy after knowing is a huge Juvenyus squad supporter !
9:37 this look said it all...
‘This is not the tactical chess we know, this is a mental capability test’
Respect to Nepo for being respectful to Ding and letting him have his moment
Ding may have shown moments of emotional vulnerability, but his mental fortitude is truly exceptional. Despite a challenging start in the candidates' tournament, he managed to turn the tide. At one point, even Caruana suggested it was primarily a contest between Nepo and himself, yet Ding's unyielding determination propelled him back into the race. Even when Nakamura appeared to be the likely contender for the second-place finish on the final day, Ding persisted. Nakamura's unexpected blunder in a potentially draw-worthy position became a turning point. Ding's journey to the World Championship match itself is a testament to his unwavering resolve. He continued to grind through the game when many, including his opponent, had seemingly moved on. It's hard to find a more fitting term than 'iron-will' to describe his ability to persevere against the odds.
yea his will is insane, the odds were stacked against him, he had to work harder to get to the WCC, he had to win/draw at least 30 games just to qualify for the candidates.
You can just feel the pressure they are under. I feel stressed whatching these guys at the end
It's over, Ian! I have the high ground!
Tania was the announcer during Magnus becoming WC too
I can feel the pressure
0:16 You can see Ian’s eyes widen. He also was pretty surprised.

I didn't know who to cheer for. Both so awesome. Great matches!
i just hope Magnus considers playing the candidates just for fun… only to forfeit his opportunity to play the champ.

I like how Ding says a big NO to settling for a draw and went balls deep for the win. So much more exciting and satisfying way to be crowned world champion. This one will go down in history as one of the most amazing plot twists ever! 🤘🏻😎
no one will talk that Ding made handshake 2 times ?
Ding as a person felt bad for Ian first and then he synced in to what he achieved.
Did he tell you that?

Dos tipos grandes!!!
Enorme Nepo!!!
Enorme Ding Liren!!!
I know Ding cannot hold his place for long, but China finally make an absolute chess ruler in chess history when both male and female become World Chess Champion
Never have I ever seen such an exuberant champion!! The scream, the winning dance, the parading... Did he really have to shove it down so hard on poor Nepo?!?!
Ding acting like he just lost the game too 😂

There was a point in the match where Ding declined the draw, and he won
Ding Is this geometric strategy a real conductor

4:00 I wanna see an alternate ending of this video where Ian flips the board over to stop the match
Hahahaha..I wanna see too..
In that case, they would rearrange the pieces from memory and continue the game.
The game would always end the same way.
I can feel Ian's heartbreak, I'm quite certain he just wants to punch or smash something (Not Ding of course, I'm sure Ian won't go that far) when he knocked over the pieces. It's that frustration and hopelessness of not being able to do anything anymore.
Tania: Rg6 looks like a losing move rather than a winning attempt.
Ding: Be quiet peasants !!!!
Ding will be a good champion..
Now we wait 1 year for magnus to take it back
Ding Liren wasn't overwhelmed by emotions because he won. He was overwhelmed because he knows he'll have to defend the title against Carlsen.

I think that was actually the moment Magnus decided not to defend his title.

In the last game when the pass pawn created in the A column it was very obvious the black had a strong advantage. After this all of the white's game was passive. And yet the analysts were talking about a draw even at later stages. I was sooo pissed off with these people, and as a chess player myself I'm surely rated below 1000.
At the start of the video, it was draw, dont you see the left bar? it was halfway by chess engine.
