The leading lady actually finished the new film a year ago. The contract for the Snow White "universe" has been cancelled. And the shock is that Rachel Zegler is in a Hunger Games prequel. I recently saw the original Disney Snow White again. I had a hard time finding ANY evidence of stalking or creepiness on the part of the prince. The prince spends only a few minutes on screen for the entire movie. And his part is pretty sterile for a romantic prince. What is creepy and weird is Zegler calling him a stalker.

I personally think that Snow White is quietly powerful. She influences the men in her life with gentle caring which means that the men in her life work hard to support her. And it’s okay to love. It’s actually pretty awesome. I feel sorry for Rachel.
True. There are many ways to be powerful, not just by being a 'leader'. It's really toxic to say you should focus on nothing but to be a strong leader; not even to love, because to fall in love (especially with men, eww) is a weakness. I always feel that this 'love is weak' narrative is ramped up by and for those who can't find love, to make them feel better.

Ever since the Snow White controversy I've been rereading the Brothers Grimm fairy tales. There are a number of fairy tales where it is a boy or man who through his actions gets the princess. For example, in the tale 'The Golden Goose' the despised youngest brother of three, by being kind and sharing, ultimately gets the princess and a kingdom to rule. In fairy tales, kindness works for both sexes.
Actually, the brothers Grimm did not write snow white. It was first published by a French author, Charles Perrault, about a hundred years prior, in his book "the tales of Perrault". You will also find he wrote Cinderella and a lot of a other tales.
That being said, the brothers Grimm were great story tellers too and Zegler is not worthy of playing this part, being too brown. She should be allowed to shut her trap on a permanent basis.

Like Little Red Riding Hood, that was originally a folk story with no happy ending.
The Grimm brothes added the hunter who save the day, and made the story less disturbing

grimm brothers didnt write the stories. those stories already existed but were passed down generations upon generations orally. grimm brothers only immortalized the stories by putting it down on paper. but there are fairy tales in every culture and country. humanity originally was egalitarian. cultures that practices patriarchy or matriarchy are kinda new and not as old. as u may have noticed, some women are equally as ruthless and cold as some men.
It's really shocking that this woman hasn't issued a public estate ment or some kind of apology. Nor from disney. That young woman is literally sabotaging her career.

In some of the versions of the story, she’s jostled when her body is being moved and the piece of poisoned apple falls out of her throat and she wakes up, so they could always do that.

Disney is trashing themselves, Rachel is just continuing that trend. Rachel is Team Disney and for damage control, they are throwing her under the bus. I am 100% certain that Rachel's words are Disney's words, because if it were not the case, Disney would not come up with such a rediculous Snow White story.

My favorite was when she dissed the theme parks by saying she hated the ride called Snow White Scary Adventures. She said "It doesn't even sound like something kids would like". Like, do you not know how Disney, the company who hired you, makes money?"
A lot of people are missing the point of Snow White. The very name is like a metaphor that implies purity, innocence, gentleness, tenderness, humility. The movie subconsciously places in our minds that purity (good) triumphs over harshness, wickedness (evil) of the world she is in. Purity and innocence is something that has sadly faded away in media representation. And the very fact that Disney intentionally cast someone that embodies the opposite of that on both an emotional and physical level shows how out of touch Disney is with their own IP. Can their choices in their latest movies really be trusted at all, really?
I sure hope she got fired. So disrespectful and pretentious.
Zegler is sadly only a symptom of the greater problem that is Disney’s intentional incompetence. And I think people are starting to wake up to it if the less than enthusiastic reception is any indication. Also you look gorgeous, Jay💙

Just remembered when I first watched Snow White as a child with my mom, she ended it with talking about how evil people die and kind people get the happily ever after, because that’s the whole point of the film, the valuable lessons that it instills with us. Apparently Zegler didn’t pay much attention to the movie when she was a kid 😂

Yup , it's not a love story. Love is there , but it's not a love story , it's a good old 'virtue gets rewarded whereas vice gets punished ' story. The prince's love is the reward she gets for being a good person. The Hateful queen dies of a broken heart, which is the punishment she gets for being cruel.

The original Snow White IS a girl boss. She kicked those dwarves’ butts into shape, she was kind to the “old crone” in the woods, she cared about people and didn’t care how they looked or acted, she was patient with all the foibles of each character. AND instead of giving up in the woods and just sitting down to die, she found her way and established a new life.
I think the unsung hero in Snow White’s popularity is that it came out in the Great Depression and, according to what I read, family men and the people who were on hard times looking for work related in a way to the hard working dwarves.
Disney has lost a lot of money doing this remakes and have only garnered the fans and public disappointment and criticism not only with these remakes, but even their animations have taken some of that toll as well. I will never understand how that woman ever thought that trashing one of the classics of everyone's childhood would be good publicity for the remake, but I hope they just cancel the movie all together.

You know I would have been fine with her in the remake if it still followed the 1937 story line with the prince and the dwarves and Rachel hadn’t hated so much on males. As a male, every time I go to a store I wonder if I will get yelled at for opening a door for a male or female. Life used to be so simple. You did little kind gestures not as a show of power but to be human and possibly brighten up someone’s day just a little.
agree 100%. I was taught to respect everyone, to open doors, to give up my seat on a bus or train for someone who needed it, and to not judge people before i got to them. Today's word, it seems that kindness, humility, patience and selflessness is a swear word and not something anyone should aspire to, and specially when it comes to women.

When being courteous is seen as being disrespectful or demeaning someone they cant do those things, then i think we are going down a slippy slope.
I just open doors sometimes for both male and females depending on my mood. this way nobody can say im sexist. But if a woman says im insulting her doing that, then ill jus let go of the door immediately and let her open it herself. no problem for me.

*Not so long ago I was doing My groceries at the supermarket where somebody I know very well works but I dropped a few coins underneath the counter.. and nobody could reach for it.. so I was a little short of money because of my accident with/while opening my wallet.. but than another random person was willing to pay the amount of money that I quite literally dropped.. because it's because of My Disability I sometimes suffer these Failure symptoms and tremors so this random person did this for Me and I was completely overwhelmed because of it.. because I normally don't bump into people as generous as that.. who are willing to help out a stranger at a moment like that.. so afterwards I felt both grateful and like sort of guilty because I can't control my body.. and I really wanted to give back to that person.. because that's just how I am..*

The hypocritical thing about Rachel Zegler I have hated the most is for all that, as we'd say in 2014, "shade" she's been "throwing" at the prince and "true love", I haven't seen her end her relationship with Josh Andres Rivera that she "loves so much", so she can spend more time focusing on her "acting" and promoting her "groundbreaking" new film, like she keeps stating is so much more important.
the only thing "groundbreaking" that will come of this is that she will be loathed and despised even more than Brie Larson now, and lets be honest, to overtake Brie in the most disliked person in hollywood is quite a groundbreaking achievement.

The irony of this I feel is that she completely missed the WHOLE f ing moral of the story being, vanity will mess you up, and made it all about herself, which is funny as heck. Snow White not only was Disney's first full-time animated film, but also was the first technicolor film, which was HUGE deal it was the film that semented Disney as powerhouse. She is standing in the shoulder of giants while taking a sh!t.
I’ve worked in film and television (and have close friends who are lead character designers and animators at Disney). It saddens me greatly (as it does them) to see these iconic OG Disney characters and movies staring up at the muddy underside of the Disney carriages they’ve been thrown under by these modern, snow-woke actors. I appreciate you standing up for the original production (despite its vintage composition). We may not be able to stop Walt Disney from rapidly spinning in his grave, but you are definitely helping to add softener to Walt’s spins cycles (oh gawwd, that joke probably made Walt spin several more times!). And for the record, you look better in that blue dress than Zegler ever did _attempting_ to portray Snow White.

I think it's because they often cast people without telling them exactly for what roles they are being cast. I just watched how they cast the character Sabine for Ahsoka and she said she didn't know. Neither did the girl for Supergirl in the Flash. And I remember Halle Bailey saying something similar. On the other hand, James Cameron had Kate Winslet in a period dress try out a scene with some male actors to see the chemistry and how they would look for the roles.

They did the same thing with Alice in Wonderland. Created an entirely different movie out of the original concept and made a very powerful female role out of it and it somehow worked. Reason why is the actress never killed off the original character's identity, and made it a point that their movie is a totally different reimagination of what the original is. Same with Maleficent.
This kid however, killed of the original Snow White, and what she stood for, calling her names, and making her look like a worthless person, while calling the person who saved her weird.
I think one reason Alice in wonderland work so well is because it was technically a sequel. They weren't trying to be exactly like the original because Alice was older and returning to wonderland

Walt Disney thought Snow White as a movie was perfect and the film inspired Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer to produce its own fantasy film, The Wizard of Oz, in 1939. That is amazing, I remember every Easter Wizard of Oz was played in color on TV, but Snow White was _never_ played on TV. Not even on Disney's own The Wonderful World Of Disney.
Adults also enjoyed Snow White as much as children did, often saying they forgot they were watching an animated film. Now because of Rachel Zegler it seems everyone is hoping they don't release Snow White and the 7 homeless magical people. (that's what they look like)

I said it a long time ago and I say it now even though she is older, Lucy Hale would have made a good Snow White. BUT Disney really needs to stop the live-action remakes. Not even Tim Burton could make it work. They really need to get back to something fantastical and original with heart and good characters. That or tell old fairy tales and legends from across the world. They really have only scratched the surface. There are so many...especially if they are looking to "check boxes".
Pirates of the Caribbean really got to Disney's head it seems. "Oh the audience loves this live action of one of our rides, we should make LIVE ACTIONS of our classic animated hits!" -some idiot head at Disney. No one asked for this Disney. The other problem is the live action Beauty and the Beast did fairly well at box office, while slipping in some current woke ideology. So they thought they could just keep doing it and the people would eat it up like cake. Eventually, people are going to put Disney to the guillotine. Many of us already have.
so, they told her what to say then fired her for it. Disney has become a real piece of work.
Can't wait for Rachel to blame the fans, media, and executives rather then take responsibility for her own words. And I hope other celebrities distance themselves from her.

lets be honest, even casting Gal as the evil queen is quite a stretch. Cant see her being "evil" or "sadistic" with any kind of belief or emotion. Remember how much emotion she conveyed when she said "Kal-El, no.." in The Justice League?

@@snarkyjaythe only Disney remake that I love and really enjoyed the was the new Cinderella movie 2015 with Lilly James as it followed the same formula as the original 1950s did but added more depth and fleshed out the characters more, they made the stepsisters more meaner as well as the stepmother but the stepmother has a sad backstory that u can sympathy with as the narrator said in the beginning when she was being introduced “she too had known grief” so in a way she understood what Ella was feeling. Yes her original name was Ella and the stepfamily called her Cinderella as an insult but in the end she accepted it and owned jt as her own name by the end of the movie. They have a scene with the Prince and Cinderella early on when they are both on their horses and I really liked that also Ella was strong, brave, compassionate like the orignal but also resilient and like her mother said to her “have courage and be kind” I loved that message and the dress omg was incredible I actually handmade that dress at 12 years old when I first saw the movie with my mom 😊❤ so yeah if they are gonna redo Snow White have thems stick to the original plot but yes they can add more depth. Imo Snow White was already brave and true she was only 14 having to deal with the fact that her own stepmom wants to kill her she runs into the forest and begins to hallucinate scary things but it was just the animals and they lead her to the cottage of the seven drawfs. She kept staying postive despite what life was throwing at her that is a good lesson to teach children looking at the glass as half full rather than half empty and what is wrong with finding true love? I think it is really sweet it is such an innocent and classic fairytale ❤
I think they have plenty of ideas but Disney has fallen to the lowest common denominator like all the other studios. Why waste money on an unproven new IP when we can continue to pump money out of their existing IPs. People need to stop going to see them & when that happens they'll go looking for the new trend/meta to beat to death for decades until people get sick of that & the cycle continues.

When talking about remakes of Disney fairy tales in this era of technologically advanced visual effects, we imagine how amazingly beautiful these fairy tales are made. We never want to see the characters in a fairy tale change their good character or see the plot of a beautiful story being twisted around at will.

The point that gets overlooked in all these discussions is that Disney is no longer capable of making good movies. Thank their draconian DEI initiatives for that.
They've hired writers who can't write, actors who can't act, and directors who can't tell a story. But they check the right DEI boxes.

Celebs and production companies go on these rants on purpose, this way they can claim "audience bad, we good!" when they flop and never have to change. I think Rachel does not know what true love is or means. If she thinks love is equal to "stalker", and the only importance is "power", "being a leader" & "being a girl boss", she has skipped a few pages of "How to be Human 101". I feel sad for her. She probably lacks any meaningful skill set in human interaction, and was just lucky & ethnic enough to beat all other girls auditioning, and is now sawing off the legs of her own chair, as well as putting her foot in her mouth, so to speak. She must have had a pretty gnarly life so far. Women usually excel in love and care, not her. She thinks a Disney princess should only be power hungry, or else she is "just a slave of the patriarchy". Sad.
Zegler openly admitted she hated the role and had nothing but contempt for the entire film. It is surprising she got the role, it is MORE surprising she was fired and the project is in limbo "hopefully forever if every other live action is the metric it will be made from."

I was not going to mentioned this, but since we are here. in the original movie the queen did all her evil doings because she was jealous of Snow White`s beauty, so why did Disney choose EFFing Gal Gadot as the evil queen who is jealous of Rachel Zegler`s Snow white?! Relax they are not trying to take our childhood. Your seeing this live action films as something that are going to delete and replace the originals. To me they are Disney’s terrible attempt to introduce the classics to the younger generations. Those of us who grew up watching the classics will always hold them near and dear to our hearts always.

Did you ever wonder why Rachel Zegler rarely seems to be filmed with her friends, because nobody can stand her. If she is with someone in a shot, it's out of requirement for an interview for a movie otherwise nobody wants to be seen with her.
The original film is from 1937, but the original German fairytale was first published by the Brothers Grimm in 1812. But it might be older as well. So a story that is at least 200 to 300 years old does not fully meet the Zeitgeist of the last 5 years? Shocking.

I think the delays have more to do with the ongoing strikes than the actress. No one is allowed to do promo so no studio wants to release any big budget movie right now.
