  • I tried not to get involved in this one, but this Disney remakes are literally infuriating. The Snow White Live Action remake starring Rachel Zegler is apparently going to be no different, especially with what she said in this interview.

The thing that bothers me most about Rachel is her utter arrogance and the clearly political driven ignorance she exudes. Typical zoomer who thinks it’a their mission to reform everything according to their beliefs. Zero respect for what’s come before them. You’d think Disney would have learned from their past mistakes. She wasn't saying anything that the brass at Disney hadn't cleared beforehand, probably through Latondra Newton since she was the commissar setting the company's ideological agenda. Most of these interviews were done last year, such as at the D23 expo, before Disney started going on what appears to be a death spiral, and you have Gal Gadot sitting there right next to her pushing the same nonsense. Zegler might be acting like a typical rad-left campus Zoomer parroting what her idiot professors said in class the day before, but every word coming out of her mouth that crapped on the original I guarantee came straight from the top.
The only spontaneous thing that she did mention was when she dumped on Andrew Burnap by joking that his scenes might be cut. It's one thing to be a shill for this stupidity, but to throw your own castmate under the bus like that, even if it was in a joking manner, shows how far up her own ass she really is.

She grew up an over protected and sheltered child. She has literally no actual life experience to draw upon. Obviously very little education of any value and no social grace that is noticeable. She is Polish and Colombian and chooses to identify solely as Latina. I guess that's her choice to deny half her lineage if she wants to. She just wants people to think that she is more relevant than she really is. Just trying desperately to grab on to something to stand up for. If she were wiser, she would know to keep her lips tightly together and just do the damn job that she is being grossly overpaid to do.

@@snarkyjayHere's a question I would ask Rachel: How many stories do we read that are centuries, if not millenia old at this point? There a stories, characters and motifs that seem to be written into our psychological DNA (go read Jung). Also, how many of these "modern" stories can actually stand up to the classical versions? Those allegedly outdated versions of the story which actually understood certain things like basic human psychology, like the idea that the desire to acquire power is something the villains do, not the heroes.

As a wise writer once told me, “You CANNOT change character and keep the same events, while expecting your story to play out the same.”
What I’ve noticed in all these remix is a Disney is taking so much from the original animated movies, but either changing character events, or removing them, but not seem to realize that that messes up with the story. But they also don’t seem to care that they changed the story.

Landed on her head falling out of a tree and got her ankle crushed in a bear trap and was back at it immediately.
THAT type of girlboss offends me. it's like we're too weak to see the girl actually struggle and suffer. even John Wick and Jason Bourne got BEATEN UP. Naru never got injured in combat once (even the predator never actually hurt her at all), all her injuries came from accidents.

England, Spain, Denmark, Germany, France, Egypt, Africa, All over South America ..etc ...etc....Disney has stolen tales and folklore from around the globe. Aside from Walt's original cartoons, they have done nothing else. Acting is playing a part..that's what acting is. Hair and make-up departments along with costuming complete the effect. Both Snow White and The Little Mermaid are traditional Germanic European fairy tales. The first one written by The Brothers Grimm, and the Little mermaid by Hans Christian Andersen. And is Ariel's skin just as vividly described as Snow White's?
Oh, YES, in the fairy tale there are these sentences:
"They were six beautiful children; but the youngest was the prettiest of them all; her skin was as clear and delicate as a rose-leaf, and her eyes as blue as the deepest sea; but, like all the others, she had no feet, and her body ended in a fish’s tail.
When something like a black cloud passed between her and them, she knew that it was either a whale swimming over her head, or a ship full of human beings, who never imagined that a pretty little mermaid was standing beneath them, holding out her white hands towards the keel of their ship.
He fixed his coal-black eyes upon her so earnestly that she cast down her own, and then became aware that her fish’s tail was gone, and that she had as pretty a pair of white legs and tiny feet as any little maiden could have; but she had no clothes, so she wrapped herself in her long, thick hair.
Then the little mermaid raised her lovely white arms, stood on the tips of her toes, and glided over the floor, and danced as no one yet had been able to dance.
Then her sisters came up on the waves, and gazed at her mournfully, wringing their white hands.
The little mermaid leaned her white arms on the edge of the vessel, and looked towards the east for the first blush of morning, for that first ray of dawn that would bring her death. She saw her sisters rising out of the flood: they were as pale as herself; but their long beautiful hair waved no more in the wind, and had been cut off."
Andersen wrote that the little mermaid had blue eyes and she and her sisters had white skin.

My biggest issue with Zegler’s comments is her dismissal of the original animated film as a whole. She would rather focus on the ‘dated’ story than what a monumental production that film was in 1937. I’ve studied animation and knowing the limitations that Disney was working with, Snow White was nothing short of a miracle. It was a film that set a benchmark that even Disney studios struggled to keep up with at times.

I would challenge the idea that the story is dated. My thesis is that the story is timeless and has a universal appeal to it, which is why people return to it time and again. I would also argue that the moral message is rock solid and that's a huge part of why the story endures. The newest books of the Bible, the Brit Chadishah or New Testament, per your preference, date from approximately 1900-2000 years ago, and people still read them. And we have earlier versions of the books of the Tanakh or Od Testament from centuries before the first books of the New Testament were written. This is what C.S. Lewis called "Chronological Snobbery," the idea that because something is modern it must automatically be better than what came before it. We still read Plato and Aristotle, Buddha and Confucius too. That's the funny thing about the truth, it kind of doesn't change based on current year.

Well works of fiction are products of their time even if they become classics. And Disney always took artistic lierties with the works they made into animated movies, for instance the book Bambi: A Life in the Woords is about death in general, not just the death of Bambi's mother and how that affects him. Also in the book there's nothing quite like the irony that the movie has where right after we see Bambi realize he's never going to see his mother again and accept the harsh reality, it cuts to birds singing happily about spring.
But like the Lord of the Rings novels suosedly have stuff ffueled by World War II in them. Narnia indirectly references the war. And like, even a book that came out in 2021 that I read which is set in the modern day but has throwbacks to the tiem Narnia is set in, because it involves a girl moving into a castle that the previous owner lived in as a young girl, it brought up Narnia and Secret Garden and made allusions to Harry Potter...even that book was a product of the modern ear, invovling eight grade girls who ressure the MC to go to a high schol party and encourage her to drink, there is bridwatchign and a guide for that who is very seixt, and a girl with some kind od disorder that affects movements occasionally but often she is fine.
Zegler's mistake, and those making this film in general, is to not understand the original's apeal, and their job is to remake the Disney movie, that is what was promised, and they aren't doing that. Then again, it only took Disney six years to make a sequel to a beloved movie which showcased that Disney didnt' understand the fanbase for the original, and that aws in the case of Frozen II. But just like Barbie, for some oddball reason a fanbase of that movie eruted, but the thing is, Frozen Ii fans do not like the original, some of them are on record for saying they hate it, but now they retroactively pretend to be fans of Frozen because the sequel is to their tastes.
That sequel is a boring movie that also makes me angry that they would dare do such things to Anna, make her be a uet who resotres Arendelle, Arendelle should REMAIN DESTORY3ED FOREVER and Ela and Anna should be away in the forest living together mostly haily until a new villain comes along, as SISTERS, not be miles and miles apart and rarely see each other, if Disxney can show so much hatred for a movie that came out six years before, why does ANYONE think theyd' have respect for a film released 87 years after the original?

The most anyone can hope for is an accurate Moana at least, because that seems to already fit the DEI requirments, a girl who saves herself, doesn't even consider love at all, there isn't even a dude for her to like in that way, just a dmeigod who already has a wife who is her comanion. But Hercules is going to be about Megara saving the day, and Tarzan I guess a raceswaed Jane?
(She might not be raceswapped, I'm just guessing, lus Disney seems to hate Europeans.)

The whole dwarf thing is just confusing to me. They do realize these aren't people afflicted with dwarfism? These are dwarves; the fantasy creatures. Like in The Chronicles of Narnia, The Lord of the Rings, Dragon Age, etc, etc. Like Hobbits, Elves, Ring Wraiths, Satyrs... they're not real. They're mythical creatures. It'd be like saying we should sue Peter Jackson for not having little people play all of the dwarves in the film adaptations he made. "Weird, weird." On topic, I think everyone is just so sick of remakes, this didn't stand a chance *before* Rachel developed foot in mouth disease. Now? Floppity flop.

    • @nendymion
      @nendymion Před 10 měsíci +1

The whole dwarf thing happened because the one actual dwarf actor in the movie accused Disney of being backwards for having dwarves in the movie to begin with. Which in turn pissed off his whole community because he essentially pulled up the ladder behind him by ensuring he was the only small actor in the movie. As for why Disney didn't just fire him and replace him with a normal sized person like they did all the others after that remark, I'll never really know. All I do know is that from the one picture of these "Magical Creatures" that we did get, they all were dressed like low budget theatre actors with clothing that looked far too modern for the era they are supposed to be in.

The thing with the The Little Mermaid is that Disney should have learned that was as far as they could push the boundary when it came to race swaps. All the backlash and negative feedback/criticism, and the film bombing at the BO should have let them know: "Stop now!"
They didn't though. They won't. It's clear that the people there want to destroy Walt's legacy, and this is going to do it. This is Snow White. She IS Disney. Out of all the princesses, if there was a queen to reign over them all Snow White would be her. Rachel is the worst most insufferable person they could cast to portray the iconic princess. If they actually go through with this, I fear it will be all over for Disney.

Well this movie was already made when Little Mermaid came out. I mean editing still needs to be done and everythign and reshoots are always an option, but studios do not like to just can stuff they put so much money and time into. If it can ltierally hurt the brand they will, like Batgirl, although funny thing is even though that didnt' come out, all DC movies this year are drowning. But point is, a movie studio doesn't areciate sunk costs, and also Bob Iger is a terrible monster who hates the family unit and wants to invade homes with evil agendas, so no way would he back down, that is to say, he did suggest they not release this at all, but not because of the backlash er se, that is, he fully believes in everything this movie is utting forth, he only suggested that because Disney is losing money on roject anfte rroject.
If you wihs to know more about this, I suggest you watch the videos concerning Snow White posted by Mike Zeroh.

If they had they would have discovered that the prince is not a stalker but has known and loved Snow White all his life. She wants to be rescued by her true love, who is specifically him. When he kisses her he thinks that she has died and is kissing her farewell. That’s what breaks the spell.

Heartless and power hungry characters aren't anything new in storytelling. They just used to be the villains, because that's exactly what makes someone a bad person. What is new, is that it is expected to root for exactly those, who were known by every little child in every culture all through history to be assholes, as heroes. So perhaps - instead of attacking the audience for not eating the shit, they're serving - they'd might be better off to just take a step back, look at themselves and ask themselves: "Are we the baddies?".

As a man, I'm told wanting love and a monogamous loyal bond with a woman is misogynistic. I'm not entitled to any of it, to look for and chase that. Jay, I'm going to be brutally honest, 2007 and 2023 they're 2 totally different worlds in terms of dating.
IF you seek a loyal, honest and honorable monogamous relationship, if you seek a relationship with the ideal goal to be create and share a live with another and possible offspring, if you seek to stand by your woman/man when in sickness to death, USA especially metropolitan city culture, its a very bad and lonely era and you are guilted for having human desires, and desires of a Man. Its a sad era where people swipe swipe swipe for the most surface level superficial quality in another. Used to be able to find a date just shopping for groceries and a woman sees you're a big boy buying real groceries oh you can cook. Today, everyone's nose is in their phones perpetually, swiping right. It's just not a good era. And this movie's ideas among other Corporate Hollywood films is a direct reflection of it and it seems most regular folk just aren't into this crap, but its tolerated or falsely propped up. I do not understand why.
Just sad a fairytale involving love is considered so vile and MUST be changed.

I think the Walt Disney classics after it like Pinocchio, Bambi, Alice In Wonderland, Lady & The Tramp etc. were definitely better; Sleeping Beauty being my favorite. And no not because I grew up watching it as a kid. Beautiful artistry, smooth animation, interesting story, lovely music, enjoyable characters, excellent atmosphere, one of the best Disney villains in the lineup in Maleficent, and one of the most epic climaxes I’ve ever seen in film; not just animated films, film in general.
But I still Snow White given it was the first full-length animated movie in history but they’re just desecrating it’s legacy just by casting this woman and changing it to a whole nonsensical mess. As an amateur animator myself all I can say is: they’re making Walt Disney roll in his grave.

Characters like Moana, Mulan, Elsa, and repunzel were all very fleshed out characters that played "the girl boss" role but also had a lot of feminine and gentle characteristics, like snow white. And exactly like you said, not every girl is gonna be able to relate to the girlboss characters, some may enjoy, and be able to relate to a character like snow white and a love story, heck even as a guy I find these whimsical stories starring a prince and preincess very enjoyable ever since I was a kid. Fully agree. However it´s no longer true that the Evil Mouse is making a lot of money with these remakes. Even the Little Mermaid was a flop because it lost the international audience (who do want the source material instead of the mindless toxic identity politics so beloved in LA (hence the populairity of Eastern Asian movies (with zero diversity!)), Pinoccio and Peter Pan didn't even make it to the big screen and Obnoxious not-so-White and the Seven Average Diverse people from downtown LA wil be their biggest flop yet (If it isn't canned soon). Almost every single Disney movie is losing money with the exception of the a-typical Avatar (a leftover from Fox). The vile mouse is losing billions.
A long time ago these remakes broke records, now the audience stays at home, especially overseas.
(and NO I don't want to see myself represented on screen, I want to immerse myself in a tale and if it is another boring remake; at least the story to be true to the source material and not to *iss all over a country's cultural heritage)

All they did here was hijack the name to ride its coattails with a completely different story! And by them doing that, it's a complete turnoff to most! The story they're putting out there might've worked just fine on it's own, but ironically, they screwed themselves by NOT doing that and trying to change a classic Disney fairy-tale movie into a hot mess instead! It's as Disney has no sense of their own history, nor any respect the past. Even if they were dead set on completely re-imagining the story, they bare minimum they should enforce is to not bad mouth the movie that made Disney. At least for no other reason than to show respect for their roots.

3:48 It's almost like when Disney remade Pete's Dragon several years ago and the 2016 movie had nothing to do with the 1977 movie other than that both movies are about a boy and a dragon. Oh, and did I mention the remake is not a musical?

About that Aladdin idea she came up with, actually that idea indeed was done before....in the musical "Twisted" with Jafar as the sympathetic hero and Aladdin as the treacherous villain instead of the other way round.

To be fair, it's not like Rachel personally re-wrote Snow White. Disney just casted her based on what traits they were looking for.

It's not 1597 and Juliet isn't standing on her balcony thinking about someone called Romeo she just met. She actually should have been dreaming of the leader she could be... Act 2 Scene 2 could have been so different if made for a 'modern audience' but I'm not sure anyone would have remembered its 400 years later though!

Sounds like they might have been trying to do something like "Snow White and the Huntsman," except that movie actually wasn't bad IMO. I'm not so sure about this movie, tho. Oh well. It looks like it's been canned, so whatever.

I hear so much about how constantly being angry and oppressive and so on is really just a mask for lack of confidence. Then those same people always end up doing something like this where wanting love, support etc. is a weakness and to always be angry is a strength. The irony is pretty in your face.

They better leave Frozen alone. Elsa beats them all:
    1. Elsa (Frozen): $3,397,816
    2. Cinderella (Cinderella): $2,504,259
    3. Snow White (Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs): $2,301,831
    4. Anna (Frozen): $2,165,120
    5. Ariel (The Little Mermaid): $1,483,384

I don't care or have a problem about the race of the character playing snow white but her toxic feminist man hating beliefs on top of bashing the original character and movie is what's unfortunate about all this.
The young woman who played the little mermaid seemed grateful respectful and appreciated her opportunity and sounded professional during promotion of her movie but Rachel Ziegler has been the complete opposite and her rebuttal or "apology" video and tweet was as ridiculous as she is.
Disney should just re release their classic movies in theaters on there anniversary years.
I hope whoever is in charge at Disney sees where this is going and I would shelf this snow white movie and reshoot some stuff and make sure the lead actress is set right or replaced , but even then it's probably too late because it's already been tainted before the first official trailer release.

    ACTUALLY☝️Hans Christian Andersen’s description in his book says “They were six beautiful children; but the youngest was the prettiest of them all;
her skin was as clear and delicate as a rose-leaf, and her eyes as blue as the deepest sea; but, like all the others, she had no feet, and her body ended in a fish's tail.” So there you have it.

I can understand people want things to look like the original. However, Halle got the role for her voice, not her race. I thought that it was cute how the racial diversity was in the new movie. However, I don't care for bad attitudes. Which is exactly what Zegler has.

Also at this rate I don't think this movie is ever going to be released. The more Rachel Zeglar opens her mouth, the more, the fans hate her and this movie. Their only chance is to shut her up. Unfortunately Rachel just can't shut her mouth about how much she hates fans and we are to stupid to know what we want in a movie.

They don't like the original movie's ways but want to make a more "palatable" version as if they're making one they can watch without feeling "disturbed" while also lying about what "disturbed" them about the original and changing key aspects in a way that does not add anything valuable or even devalues... *What in the crackhead!?*
