Henry Cavill said it best: "When it comes to fans, it is a fan's right to have whatever opinion they want to have. People are going to be upset especially when you're talking about books or games because you're never going to be the exact person they had in their head or who they played in Witcher 3 for example. I don't necessarily consider that toxic, I just consider that passionate."
Even when people were complaining about the show and its changes, Henry Cavill never once insulted the fans or berated them for it. There's a reason fans hold him in such high regard even if they don't necessarily like his projects. He understands fandom and just wants to tell the best story possible and express as much as he can with the characters.
Disney seems to want full adulation and a pat on the back for doing the barest of minimums and they can't even do that right.

If you release good material people will watch. If you don’t, then they won’t. If you insult your customers and tell them it isn’t for them, people will move on to other things. Im 27, seeing my favorite franchises be constantly destroyed by disney among others, has completely inspired me to write my own sci-fi books, and to even become a game developer and slowly build my way up to make games for it.
I've been working on the lore 7 years now and just officially started writing the first words just a few weeks ago. It definitely wont appeal to everybody, but mankind discovered space flight in the medieval times and it has vastly changed the technological progression for all in the setting. It doesnt take place on earth, it has dozens upon dozens of alien races. Man and most races are still using feudal forms of goverment and have nobility deep-rooted in their societal cores. Blending medieval weaponry with sci-fi fantasy. Guns are a scarcity and havent been developed much past simple flintlocks for most space faring nations.
I know it won't ever get anywhere close to starwars levels of excitement or attention, but I will try. All of this is out of spite for Kathleen Kennedy and the sabotagers at Disney. I'm not even alone in this, many have joined me in my efforts and there's hundreds if not thousands doing the same thing I'm doing too. If anything, Disney has taught me that spite might just be the most powerful emotion a human can feel.
Sad thing is we all saw this coming, when "episode 7" came out. We told everyone it would go the way its going now. I just hope something can be done to save what we were once called weirdos and nerds for. I remember being bullied for liking starwars, can we bring that back? I prefer that over what we got going on now.
Great video, I made sure to like and subscribe. Its not much but if a large majority do it then maybe Kathleen can see it herself.

Came here from Tyrone Magnus. Preach on Sister. I'm in my 40s now. My mother got me into Star Wars as a kid, home recording off of tv so I could watch those VHS tapes they almost fell apart. Breaking i don't know how many speed rewinders because I watched these films on repeat. My mother god rest her soul. Appreciated these films, but she loved that I loved them. I can still remember sitting on the wood floor head up watching the tv Listening to Master Yoda talk to Luke, and giggling every time Yoda Made a joke, or laughed. I loved the Original Films, and I adore the Prequels, because I love the Jedi. And the Prequels gave me more lore, story, and world building for the Jedi, and the Sith. To me that is Star Wars. The Jedi and the Sith. Good vs Black. In a black and white setting because that is how George Lucas setup his story.
This isn't GoT. It is Science Fantasy. In Fantasy, its Good vs Evil, no agendas, no narratives to push. Just a hero's journey, the dark times, and the struggle to lead to a well earned Triumphant End. We don't need woke, because George Lucas gave us a great story, with diversity, and well written characters, and in essence was "woke" before that was ever even a thing. Stop trying to put your stamp on things and give us what we, the people that line your pockets want, or like Snark Jay said. One day I too might be one of those people cheering when this IP that I love so much, fails.

I even dressed as Princess Leia for Halloween and my brother Darth Vader. My only complaint about George Lucas Star Wars is that awkward kiss between Luke & Leia.

Many of us fans are apathetic towards Disney Star Wars, but there's always a flame in our heart and hope that someday, we will be able to re-embrace Star Wars and feel the same love and joy towards it as we did in our youth. Disney won't change... and I wouldn't be surprised if they hold onto the franchise even after it's date of expiry like a bitter ex in a divorce battle just to screw over the fans.

I don't think the younger generations understand just how significant Star Wars was. It literally changed the world.
I personally saw it EIGHT TIMES during its initial release. The first time I had to stand in line with my parents for 12 hours to get in. The 5th time probably took 4-5 hours. The 8th was more like 1-2 hours and this was MONTHS after it had been released. Yes like 3-4 months after opening it was still impossible to get in without standing in line. The lines, particularly for the first couple months, wrapped around the movie theaters multiple times forming rings of people waiting just to buy tickets. It was insane. And EVERYONE was doing it, it wasn't just nerds & geeks standing in those lines because everyone wanted to see it.
When Star Wars first came out there weren't actually many movie theaters and almost all of them were single screen theaters (maybe a few double screens). Its directly because of Star Wars that multi-plex theaters were born! Between Star Wars and Empire there was a massive effort to build more theaters. When Empire rolled out it opened in new, small (3-5 screen) multi-plexes. My first viewing of Empire still required standing in line 3 hours.
The fans are very serious about Star Wars. Particularly the old-school ones, it takes dedication to stand in line 8+ hours to see a movie and then repeat that multiple times.
I remember a friend who literally had converted his entire garage into building and storing Star Wars related things (he had a 6 foot diameter Millennium Falcon hanging in the middle). And this was a guy that people would not consider a nerd/geek - he just loved SW that much.
And never once was there anything toxic and unfriendly. Even after standing in line for hours in the hot sun people were still friendly. Star Wars fans were united in their love of the franchise. If you loved SW it didn't matter who you were or what you did otherwise.
These are the people these idiotic, clueless interlopers are calling "toxic fans". They should really take a look in the mirror because all this toxicity they keep talking about - its just projection. They are the ones what are toxic and divisive. Not only are they destroying the IP but they are literally making EVERYTHING they touch worse with no actual benefit. How they still have jobs is truly beyond comprehension.

You're quite right. I don't think I can adequately explain to anyone who didn't see Star Wars in the theater in 1977 just how game-changing it was. Not only had there not been any science fiction movies with the same level of action, but consumer technology at the time was comparatively primitive - most electronics you'd find in an American home were simply updated versions of things from the '50s. So to have such an exciting glimpse into the future - even though it was "a long time ago" - was groundbreaking.
Star Wars was a cultural watershed moment . . . now, it's nothing more than just another category on D+.

I introduced my now 28yr son, we even went to the prequels together this year to celebrate that. Now Disney tell us we are am not their preferred audience; we should not have an opinion; we should both just shut up and love it. I don’t love it and I am no longer financing your disdain Disney.

Disney won’t turn this ship around, because they don’t care what damage they do to the “Star Wars“ brand. It is nothing more to them than a vehicle with a built-in, good reputation and popularity, which they intend to milk until they destroy it completely, in order to push forward, their twisted, perverted, explicitly sexist, woke racist, blatantly misandristic sociopolitical/sociosexual identity politics agenda, and narrative.
They will ring every last bit of utility out of the franchise as a medium for attempting to shove their elite, extremist propaganda down the throats of as many people as they possibly can.
And because so many people vehemently object, and when their actions result in massive negative criticism and tsunami-size negative backlash, they will cloak themselves in eternal victim, hood, and oppression, and attack the fans/the audience, blaming the failure that was caused by their own incompetence, on the people that they expected to watch it, and to pay obeisance to “The Message”, but didn’t.

I almost never comment on youtube videos, but this video struck me in my core. I have such fond memories of going to the special edition movies and later the prequels. I saw each at least five times on release. For the opening of phantom menace my friends and I waited in line overnight. We developed a system so we could all keep our places in line. We became the “rebel response team” and everyone in line was given a badge so that they could leave to get food and come back, their spot saved. We all became friends during these events. ALL of us, male, female, black, white, gay, straight. It did not matter, because we were all of us rebels responding. Star Wars for me, is ruined. Thank you Kathleen Kennedy for invalidating my hundreds, maybe thousands of dollars spent on this franchise over the years. I deeply resent the implication that my age, sexuality, and gender somehow makes me less of a fan, because Star Wars has ALWAYS been about making friends, making memories, and all of us, being included. Disney has missed the mark again and again. I’m done. They have killed it. It’s dead. They hate me. I’m out!

      Man, I feel for you.
But fear not. At some point, the damage will be so irreparable that Disney, in one of their episodic shakeups (let's say, when Bob Iger has to retire, in a year or 2, and new guy is coming in), one of the first thing they'll do is either to boot Kathleen out for all her crimes against humanity, or to sell Lucasfilm (for a pittance of what they bought it) to another studio with someone at the head of it who's actually a Star Wars fan (I can't imagine they're rare, we just fell on THE ONE person who wanted to actively tank it to the ground), and actually steer it into a better direction.
Sure, the damage will have been done by then, the core trio will be done and dusted, but who knows ?
I've already seen some REALLY promising episodes of what Star Wars COULD be from anthologies like the animated series of shorts Visions (seriously, there are some episodes in there that felt like pilot episodes of their own shows ! THIS is what happens when you trust smaller but passionate and talented studios who grew up with the franchise and understood the assignment and took their limited time to play with the franchise as THE mission of their career ! Unlike the current hacks at Disney/Lucasfilm itself, they certainly didn't take it for granted, and godammit, IT SHOWED !), and Mandalorian (at least season 1 and parts of 2) and especially Andor showed us that there are so many more stories that could be told in this universe.
It might still take a few years, and a lot of outlandish conditions need to be met first, but I'm optimistic that the magic in the Galaxy far away can still be rekindled.

I’m sixty one now. In May 1977 I was thirteen. I was already a fan of scifi like Star Trek, Space:1999, 2001, Logan’s Run, Planet of the Apes, Westworld (1973), Silent Running and so on. We watched ALL of these films and TV shows religiously. When it was released, It was as though Star Wars was made for me. I’m an old white guy but I have loved and given to, and supported this franchise since day one. In 1980 my Mom had a broken ankle, we STILL went to the cinema to watch The Empire Strikes Back and she was on crutches. In 1983 I worked an all night shift, went home, changed clothes and drove to the theater, got in line for three hours to see Return of the Jedi opening day on no sleep. 1999, my daughter was a tiny baby and we got a sitter to go see Phantom Menace opening weekend. These films had a history with me and my family. These are valuable memories to me. Now…I don’t care what they do. I guess I’m just part of the TOXIC fan base. The ones that do not matter to Kathleen Kennedy and her minions. They have destroyed Star Wars for me and that is a real shame.

The fact that the Acolyte gets such low audience score is just proof that even after so many years of Disney attacking both the franchise and the fan base, that the fans still love and haven’t given up hope on Star Wars. The fans are screaming, yelling, and begging Disney to STOP killing Star Wars with a slow and painful death. It is only a matter of time when the fans will say, “enough is enough” and put down Star Wars for good.
What made me really angry was when KK said, “the fans don’t own Star Wars.” Which just confirms my belief that KK doesn’t know how the real world works. When I was growing up my father taught me a little thing known as “money talks”. He thought me that a company my own the rights to a movie, show, game, or other products, but the consumer is the true owner. If the consumer does not like what the company is doing, the consumer will not spend money. But if the love what is being done, the will spend money on the product and even things attached to said project. In this case the money is talking, but Disney is not listening.
This all comes down to this ancient idea that was highly valued back in the day, but it’s almost extinct today. Personal Responsibility. Disney would blame others, angry white males, for their failures, instead of taking personal responsibility. If Disney could just take personal responsibility and be like, “Yeah we made garbage, so what can we do to make this right or even better?” That day, sadly, is never coming.

I believe KK got a pass for the debacle that was The Last Jedi. It was at the time the worst Star Wars production for all the reasons why we hate The Acolyte (minus the LGTBQXYZ messaging). Yet since the movie grossed over $1 billion based on the Star Wars name alone, she clearly did not learn the lesson of a true Star Wars fan scorned. I hope this latest catastrophe is what gives Disney the balls to fire this toxic idiot once and for all.

After it was over they said Darth Vader was going to be live in studio the next day and we could come and meet him. I ran and begged my parents to take me. They did and to this day I still remember it like it was yester day. I walked up to him in in fear and aww. He picked me up and said " You will make a fine Storm Trooper one day." Best day of my life. Those are the type memories that made this franchise special. They are ruining it for our kids to have those type memories. That's why were mad. Dropping FACTS & KNOWLEDGE. Tell you how bad we took it as fans. We read the books, novels, had all the posters, went to the Comic Cons since the beginning of time b4 some ever knew they existed. We were Cos-Play b4 Cos-Play was invented. We go waaay back! We were the OG's etc. My entire family meaning all of them. Me my children, siblings, uncles, aunts, thier families, grandparents. Ya following me ppl. We had our family reunion 4wks ago all 29 of us & Star Wars was brought up & we all got into a chat about it & we discussed it for about an hr. How the Acolyte ruined it all in 4episodes. We were all in awe. How a franchise could be ruined within 2hr's. My grand dad, who started it ALL by introducing us to Star Wars, just shook his head & said what a mess this world has become. I do not approve any my children watching this LGBTQ the Force is female nonsense. He quoted Yoda when he said the Force is everywhere its all around us. Its not this silliness of Propaganda/Agenda that they are pushing onto the world & my children. This isn't the Star Wars we know & love he said. We ALL looked at each other in silence, and I mean ALL of us & ALL at the same time we picked up our phones & unsubscribed to Disney on the spot! Can't make this up I tell ya. Talk about a moment. When grandpa spoke we LISTENED!!! That was definitely one moment I'll never 4get. So sad because it brought us all together. We Hope Disney sells the franchise to someone who understands its HISTORY & LORE. Till then we say goodbye to an End of an era.

If Star Wars fans are so racist than why are Mace Windu and Lando such beloved characters. If Male dominated fan bases hate women in lead roles than why was Fallout such a success? If nerds are gay than why did the "shove it down our throats" tactic blow up in their faces? These were never issues before Disney claimed them to be. The reality is Disney didn't want to continue a beloved legacy, they wanted an IP with an attached mega fan base to tell their own poorly written stories. It's not our duty as fans to like whatever filth you tried to feed us, it's Disney's duty to feed us something that fans will enjoy.
