- Follow these instructions to assemble the RadExpand 5. Be sure to perform all safety checks in the owner’s manual including a handlebar twist test, ensuring the front wheel is properly secured, and that all parts are tightened and torqued properly.
Ebike models with rigid front forks now come with a bolt-on axle mechanism for the front wheel. Depending on when your bike was manufactured, you might still receive an ebike with a quick release axle, in which case use the instruction found in this video and your owners manual. If you received an ebike with the bolt-on axle, follow the installation steps in the link below, in place of the front wheel installation steps described in the assembly video and your Owner’s Manual. This link will also help you determine which type of axle is on your front wheel if you are unsure: support.radpowerbikes.com/Mai...

I ride my Expand 5 about twice a week, pretty much entirely on the beach where I live, on the Oregon coast. This bike does an amazing job in the sand but I only get about 9 miles on the beach before I've lost the first 2 bars, at which point I turn around and head back. By the time I get home, I've lost the 3rd bar but that's as far as I've ever gone. I have noticed a substantial loss of torque as each bar disappears so having a second battery installed would be a big plus, not just for range but for maintaining power and speed on a shorter or standard ride. I've seen no issues at all driving it through freshwater streams up to a foot deep, as well as through the salt water along the coastline. I've had mine for about six months and have put a little over 200 miles of beach riding on it and everything is still working perfectly. I just keep the mechanicals lubed and hose it off after each ride. I run the tires at 15 psi and have added a real thumb throttle which I feel is a vast improvement over the lame twist throttle that comes on these bikes. I also recently upgrade to a suspension seat post which I thought was hokey before I bought it but wanted to try it out and surprisingly it works really well. You just have to adjust the tension so that it does not compress at all when you sit on the seat, only when you hit bumps. This is the perfect amount of compression, otherwise, you'll be bouncing up and down all over the place and it is really distracting.
Will the RAD expend 5 still fold up with a front basket fitted
Yes, the RadExpand 5 will still fold with the Front Mounted Basket attached but the basket will stick out
Do you ship to Morocco? Thank you
Hey there! At this time we are unable to ship to Morocco. Hopefully we can make it out there soon!
Does the rad runner 2 seat fit for the rad expand?
Hi! The RadRunner 2 passenger seat is only compatible with the RadRunner. The RadExpand 5 folding bike does not have a passenger option and it is not recommended. The rear rack payload capacity on the RadExpand5 is 59 pounds. Our only bikes with a passenger option would be the RadWagon4, the RadRunner 2, RadRunner Plus and RadRunner3Plus. 😎 🚴
Can you custom order a Rad Expand 5, like installing a front fork suspension, better seat, better light, and better display, and get credit for the original parts?
Hi! No, we do not offer a suspension upgrade and bike will come stock as is. Any accessories would be purchased separately to be installed.
@@RadPowerElectricBikes - That's a shame. It would be awesome if Rad Power allowed customers to custom order a bike with different components. You could have people make a nonrefundable $200-400 deposit for custom order bikes to cover the difference with stock.
@@RadPowerElectricBikes - Is there a long wait to pick up a RadExpand 5 from one of your stores, particularly Brooklyn, NY?
Hi! We currently have both the black and white RadExpand5 in stock boxed (not assembled) at our Brooklyn retail location that you could walk right in and purchase. We do have limited stock though so be sure to call ahead when you are planning on coming down! Here is the contact info here:

I have a question. What was the yellow cable for? what was its function? and what if I damaged it and can't connect it?
Can you pick up a RadExpand from one of your stores fully assembled and ready to go?
It would depend on which retail location and the bike availability at the closest retail store to you. When you choose the assembly option for an additional fee on the bike's product page, the retail location will come up if available to you based on your zip code!
@@RadPowerElectricBikes - I was thinking the Brooklyn, NY store. And do you know how much the additional fee would be?
Hi! The Brooklyn retail store is not coming up as an option on the black or white RadExpand for assembly due to low inventory. Please contact the store directly for up to date inventory and they will be able to assist! Please see retail contact information here:

I have a question. What was the yellow cable for? what was its function? and what if I damaged it and can't connect it?
Hi! There is the red internal 2-pin headlight then there is the yellow 3-pin throttle. If you damaged the pin on the yellow, you will need a new throttle. If you damaged the receiving 3 hole end then you will need a new Wiring Harness. Contact our support team to submit a pic and we will get you taken care of!

Hi! All of our bikes come 85-95% assembled depending on the model. If needed we also have assembly options for an additional fee when you enter in your zip code on the bike's product page prior to adding it to your cart. The assembly options vary per area.
