This week we have a special interview with Ed Dickens of the Union Pacific railroad and head of the steam program in Cheyenne Wyoming as he talks about running the 4014 Big Boy locomotive and his passion for model railroading. This amazing steam locomotive visited the St. Louis area this past weekend August 28th-30th. Joshua Barton, Daniel Coombs, Ken Patterson and Auston Allard all share their video and still photos of the event covering all parts of the area where the locomotive ran. We also share many of the various Big Boy locomotives on the market in HO and O scale on the show table.

Your interview with Mr. Dickens was fantastic. He is truly a humble man which makes him an excellent leader. He stated that running the locomotive is a blessing and I say that those of us that are a part of this hobby are also blessed. Good job!

Some really awesome photos of the Big Boy in St Louis in this What Neat this Week, the one with the Big Boy with the person on the horse with the American Flag was brilliant shots. The closest we got to that in the UK is a recent Lloyds Bank advert which you see a Horse running alongside the Flying Scotsman and also Big Boy with the St. Louis Arch was brilliant shots as well. Honestly loved them! a lovely epic What Neat This Week episode.

UP emphasizes that 25 feet is a safe distance to be trackside. Laser optics on the front end could project a straight line 25 feet out showing this distance. Bicyclists have rear lights that project a line like this on the pavement.

In 2019 the Big Boy 4014 came to Milwaukee. I went to see it and the whole Union Pacific train out at the Butler yards. The next day it was going to Sturtevant and Chicago so I went down to 51st and Lincoln Avenue where the tracks cross Lincoln at a beautiful angle to see it under full steam. Last week I was at the Green Bay National Railroad Museum and not only saw Big Boy 4017, but was able to be in the cab. Took some good photos of all those many gizmos. Enjoyed both events very much.

The Locomotive known as BIGBOY is/was the Wasatch Class of locomotive, designed to run between Ogden UT and Cheyenne Wyo. It is well known because UP had a PR
Department and the line runs along the Lincoln Highway. Two other locomotives are in this class, Duluth Missabe Yellowstone and C&O Allegeny's. But the film shot of Bigboy running along the Lincoln Highway is what over shadowed the other two Steam Heavy weights. I still wonder about UP3985.

Great show I loved all the Big Boy's on the table and the interview with Ed. I also liked your comment about it could be Z scale. As your 3 mile off video did look like it could have been one of American Z Lines. Z scale Big Boy's running by on one of our Z scale modules at a show.
Speaking of Z scale, since Z is 1/220 gauge . Is there any chance you could dedicate Show #220 to Z scale?
