Be warned my son and I did David loaders steam esperance in 2021 I cost us best part off £90,000 we are now the proud owners of a 1900 wallis and steevens traction engine it's a very addictive hobby 😊
I'm already in deep 🤣 My wife is rolling eyes and sighing already 😁
that was a good video
Great, thank you
Ya lucky sod!
I may need to look into doing something like this, I'm a few years off affording a roller yet 😂
It was a gret day - go do it, it's so worth it.
Aveling and porter 8 tonne roller, quite achievable, about 35 grand. Hard part is the ongoing cost. our family had the boiler done at it was about 15 grand which they only last 10 years if you use it monthly like us. The long slog down to dorset was the highlight of my year, a week, about 15 pubs and a 120 mile trip from sussex. An event that will be missed by thousands
Yeah. I will probably end up down that route 😁
Nice one, we went to Berrybrooks and took "The General" their half size showmans (when they had it) out for the day before we bought our miniature (not from there I'd add), was very good day. Must admit having fired and messed about with a fullsize showmans I'm happy to stick with the smaller scales, lovely as a full size is you tend to need deep pockets and decent crew and a back made of steel 😁
Loved the day. Might be tempted in to a full-size at some stage.
@@SteamOTR They are hard work, but rewarding. I'm very happy with my half size, easy to transport, reasonably quick to fire and pretty manageable in almost all situations.
Everything you're saying is the same as the things I say to try and convince myself that I only want the Half-size. But then............
An all round great day Dan! I bet you really enjoyed the experience
And they did let you have a good go with the engine. Bet the folk in the home were well pleased too. We all need to support our local air ambulance, so vital in rural areas.
Great work from the camera person too!
It was a great watch👌
All credit to Cal for the camera work. It was a fantastic day, really enjoyed it.
slippery slope that!
im down about 120k au and any spare time and cash ive had since.
Ha! I can imagine. It's quite addictive isn't it!
'It's a slippery slope ... 😉
It's a glide rather than a slope 😁
Are you heading over to Shrewsbury Steam Rally next month Dan?
No, I tried to get in but alas wasn't successful.
@@SteamOTR that's a shame, what was their reason for not allowing you in?
They just told me I hadn't been successfull.
@SteamOTR there is a bit of a waiting list for Shrewsbury, from memory they dont have a huge miniature section (mainly full size) worth the wait though . I recommend a visit for the day in the meantime.
@@Cezaelizabeth May well do just that 👍
