The girl that washed her clothes while she showered and cuts her own hair actually did an interview talking about how much of the show is staged and extremely exaggerated. She also said that they would go SO overboard as to purposely embarrass them.
I got that impression simply from watching this video. It just reeks of fake to me.

Like, in her episode she would go to restaurants and dig through these dumpsters and take out NASTY looking food so that she "would never have to buy food". She said that's not true at all. She said she would never do something like that. Not only is it completely disgusting, but also extremely unhealthy! And she said she couldn't grab any decent looking food either. They made her grab the MOST disgusting looking food out of there that was rotten and stuff. And she would say "See that rotten part, I'll just cut that off. The rest is perfectly fine. No need to let it go to waste." But, they made her do that. What a disgusting way to make money. By purposely humiliating people to the extreme. And she said they told her beforehand that some things would be staged, but they didn't say anything about it being THAT extreme and gross. But, they're under contract (which only says some things will be staged, not to what extent), so she couldn't do anything about it. Smh. It's disgusting!

Right?? Its a waste of money anyway. Listerine mouth wash was initially developed as a floor cleaner, before they decided to market it as a mouth wash. It's totally unnecessary. You just need to brush and floss period. I try to tell this to my husband but he'd addicted to it and apparently wants to waste money. Lol.

There are some nasty things on this show (yes, I'm judging) that aren't worth the time/effort to save $1/week, and like, I get extremists usually have psychological reasons for their state and habits, and that people ham it up for the camera, but there has to be a line. Mouthwash guy and floss guy... vile.

There was a HUGE amount of controversy years ago with the Asian lady. She actually did an interview with someone and stated that TLC made fun of her and forced her to things to look as cheap as possible. Things she normally would have never even though of doing. You should try to find the interview and do a video on it. She's actually extremely kind and sweet.

That straight up happened to my husband when he visited his grandparents years ago. Fed him some friskies. They never bought anything brand new and shopped yard sales. They once bought the food in the pantry at an estate sale. Grandpa died with four million dollars in the bank.

I'm pretty sure the 'cheapskate' demonstrating her toilet hygiene routine spoke up about the hate and bullying she endured after her episode aired, mostly attacking her appearance, which isn't even relevant. She explained how she was encouraged to exaggerate, but didn't realize how she would be received by the audience.

So reading comments it seems like a lot on Extreme Cheapskates is staged but holy crap that was genuinely upsetting. You handled all that so much better than I did - legit sitting here with hands over eyes over mouth over face the whole time.
If two people use the same toothbrush, that toothbrush is going to be worn out twice as fast, so I don't really see how that can be cheaper that buying two toothbrushes that are going to last double than the shared one 🤔

I fourth this! I was simultaneously disgusted and laughing my ass off this entire video. Been subscribed to Jaime for around 3 years now, and every upload she makes takes precedence amongst my subscriptions, especially within the limited amount of time I have to watch CZcams videos. She just has this uncanny ability to make the viewer feel like she’s a good friend, and she has the kind of wit and relatability that makes it delightful to watch and mock these various examples of media that are “so bad, they’re good.”
I wouldn't mind seeing this more than every once in a while. I laughed so much in this 10 min video.. and it doesn't overwhelm her to make these videos and we get more laughs. Win Win!
I always thought about that too about a lot of things. But these people are living in their own misery. It must be miserable to live that way. I just got very happy & joyous spending a little money on a rice cooker and fancy colored heart hangers. So I would rather take my health issues anytime. Lol. Health doesn't mean wealth, just like wealth doesn't mean health. If my trade off was constipation and misaligned teeth, and a bad heart in order to buy things, then...I'll take it!🤣😂😂 But that's just me. Even if the item I bought is not for me, it makes me happy. Because I know the excitement that they'll get from it.

When my husband’s grandfather would go out to eat, he would order lemon slices from the bar, a glass of water, and would use sugar packets at the restaurant table to make “free” lemonade. (And he died a millionaire) I thought that was cheap - until today.

I can't decide which of the cheapskates ideas for slicing costs appalled me the most here. The sad thing us they are so blinded by saving money it's to their own detriment. For example sharing floss could spread an infection if one is harboring a infection unknown. Then theres the sanitary aspect of things. I would not be surprised if it really isn't about saving money for a lot of them, but that they use frugality to justify compulsive behavior. Like the lady peeing in bottles still has to flush the toilet when she poops so she could just pee without flushing the way people sometimes have to during water shortages. And mouthwash really isn't necessary, especially alcohol based ones that can cause damage over time. Not to mention how nearly everyone would rather not be offered a meal than be secretly fed cat food. And to do all of that with a smile?
I'm totally down for more of this kind of content. I'm always here for your personality and sense of humor. It always boggles my mind how some people can get so dramatic when you stray from a very specific niche topic.

@@lauranater0073 urine and fecal compost are two different things im sure (but i still find them both gross). like the ones they use on "our food" is processed with extreme heat so it kills all the harmful bacteria. you cant just throw any type of waste on your plants just like that lol
