About this game:
Become a giant walking dice and battle to the end of an ever-changing dungeon! Can you escape the cruel whims of Lady Luck?
In this new fast-paced deckbuilding roguelike from Terry Cavanagh (Super Hexagon, VVVVVV), Chipzel, and Marlowe Dobbe, you'll fight monsters, find better loot, and level up your heroes as you work together to take down the Goddess of Fortune, Lady Luck herself. Balance your carefully planned strategies against the unknown of a dice roll. - Hry
I for one would like to congratulate our new rat king overlord
holy shit, this egg just ignoring the entire gimmick of the final boss and just winning through sheer luck might be the eggiest luck i've ever seen
Luck, and the power of The Rat King
To be fair, when you look at the Mimic's equipment it just has a placeholder equipment that says it has something random inside.
I assumed her equipment would be the same and didn't even think to look since the game had trained me to think it would be pointless.
The best part was when she taunted after that reduce hp 1 attack but if you were paying attention you'd realize "she was already dead". Too many poison stacks and NL still had enough reserve fighters. It would have taken a misplay even NL isn't capable of to lose there.
Yeah, but that's the Mimic... Jester, Copycat, Sorceress and Aurora all have changing equipment but you can check theirs!
It's a metaphor for life
This proves that Northernlion luck is far superior than lady luck herself
STOP SKIPPING THE LORE JESUS CHRIST
@@MumblyJumbles play the game yourself if you want it that bad gees
@@forita100 TBF it ranges from kinda tough to borderline effing impossible for most to get to the final episode cuz there's whole lotta BS that you've gotta deal with to beat the witch's bonus episode even if you're not playing on hard mode. That and the witch's spells aren't that great compared to what the other dice can do. If your response is "skill issue" than that's fair, but that's also part of the reason why I don't watch NL's content if this how he does his playthroughs. That being said I was still able to read most of the dialogue anyways, ending wasn't that great, but I guess I can't complain too much about the plot or the writing when it's a 5-dollar game with a mostly solid gameplay loop and free expansions that most companies would have you pay more money for as DLC or additional content.
I cannot believe he did this, blind, without caring about litterally any of the rules. What a god
Rat God
Rat legend
Imagine not reading what the next move is going to be when the opening prompt says "Lady Luck changes equipment each turn"
That's only half of it... imagine doing that and still countering almost every move perfectly.
@@vib80 NL - You can't misplay if none of your plays are based on informed decisions, at that point they are simply plays and nothing else.
to be fair, he might've assumed that she swaps equipment on her turn and you wouldn't be able to see it. if you didn't say otherwise i would've assumed the same
@@litapd311 Yeah sure but if you don't even bother to check anyway which takes literally 2 seconds then you're the one at fault. Not to mention it's not a new mechanic as Jester does the same thing and you have to fight him 5 times.
@@litapd311 Nah, his IQ isn't high enough to know how to use the “enemy moves” button.
He just completely skipped the whole premise of the boss...
HE
CANT
KEEP
GETTING
AWAY
WITH
THIS
He can because he's the giga Chad
NL just min-maxed luck in his build. Dump all point from perception into luck; it may take dozens of tries, but he just needs it to pay off once for any goal.
NL never checking the equipment but lucking into using the right fighter so many times is just impressive
IN THIS HOUSE WE BOW TO THE RAT KING
Rat King, your sacrifice will be remembered for all time!
Truly an inspiring leader.
The fact that he won without ever looking at the last boss's equipment and ignored every single rule is astounding to me.
This is completely false and liable. He ignored all but 1 rule, when he didn't want to do anything with a leftover dice
Chat/Comments being triggered by Ryan’s victory is actually hilarious. I can hear people in the background slamming their fist while simultaneously saying, “He can’t keep getting away with it!”
The real Level 4 of Dicey Dungeon was Ryab being Lady Luck the whole time.
Unfair as it is.
You don't so much have "know-how" as much as
"NO! HOW?!" with these plays
Rat king, true mvp should never be forgotten
Edit: Rat king, New roll fizzlebeef
You will never roll a fizzlebeef
@@AmateurBluwu The most under appreciated comment on the entire Dicey Dungeons series.
Now I need to rewatch XCOM
Roll fizzlebeef can't miss this time
I swear, there was a walkthrough with lady luck's turn order reflected in his glasses. That's the only way. Dryad only losing 1 hp, Rat King tanking 3 rules in a row, and just everything
What better way to end a game without a bit of the infamous NL luck, and the principled disregard of lore? Great series, Eggman.
Jk bois we still in the shit with these episode 4s for a damn good while
This is why people love NL, the fact he can win through sheer luck alone against all odds just makes his victories even more sweet
The fact that he did it against *Lady Luck* makes it better
Your disrespect for the cute lore in the game might be one of most egregious ignores in recent years.
It hurt me physically.
He should have lost, he shouldn't have succeeded without looking at the upcoming moves. He completely shattered the premise of the final boss, and he didn't even get to use Cornelius to do it.
Praise the Rat King
Yeah normally eggs blunders don't bother me very much but this time it was actually pretty insulting watching him just ignore the boss and luck out anyway. Then watching him skip through all of the end game exposition was just a cherry on top of the middle finger cake.
He was the lady luck
"He completely shattered the premise of the final boss" But did he? What better way to defeat Lady Luck than by.... rolling the dice?
@@sagecraft601 violating the letter, but not the spirit of the boss.
I knew there was a zero percent chance he would ever look at her equipment but I didn’t know he is the luckiest man alive anyways...
Leave it to NL to not check enemy equipment even after the game literally spells it out for the boi, and still pull out with a solid win.
God tier plays
The greatest prize of this video are all the bewildered comments.
I really hoped he got the chance to recruit sneezy... He would have gone BANANAS
I'm beginning to feel like a *Rat God* --Rat God
Rat king hard carried his trash teammates and leader
Well he is king of the trash
I just hate the constant shutdown of lore.
Me too
This is his strat to make us buy the game
galaxy brain egg
Usually I don't care (especially because I have the game) because it isn't the most engaging story. However, this is the end! Give us some of that dialogue tension egg!
Like, it's cool to not read the lore, but don't click by it so fast that I gotta use < and > to read it!
Rat King carries you to the finish line and throws you over as he dies, a true legend.
NL skipped through and shouted over all the ending dialogue just so he could spin a rigged wheel that wasn't even there to win a car that Lady Luck just finished explaining wasn't a real reward.
Good job, dude.
Came here looking for this comment because that was causing me actual pain.
Why even care though? Ryan doesnt play this game for an admittedly basic story, its for the dice rolls. From what I can tell thats not his style and surely you should see that.
@@MagikarpsSplash We all see that of course. If you don't understand (it was explained very clearly in Monara's comment), I don't know what to tell you except to skip this comment and move along.
Ive never pressed the space bar more in my life then while watching this series for lore. Rest well little space bar
I cracked my screen double tapping to play and pause this video
NL be like "I must skip this dialogue so fast you must go frame by frame if you wanna see it" I know he doesn't like it but a solid second per line wouldn't hurt
For real. I honestly feel like it's pretty unprofessional for a LPer to so actively avoid showing off an aspect of the game
All hail the king of rats and his unstoppable poisoning abilities.
it's so funny because the rat king as an enemy is kind of a pushover but as a friend hes the MVP
@@MsTryana A King is nothing without his minions.
@@MsTryana Rat King as an enemy has sub-par AI; but more than that, he only has 3 (used to be 2) dice. As an ally, he has access to 4 dice (with limit break giving him a bunch more), which boosts his consistency big time.
@@BCGpp It's so cheesy, but this is a perfect allegory for the merits of friendship xD
Hey NL, if you wanted to spin the wheel... maybe you should have read what actually happened during that ending.
The real prize was the friends you made along the way.
Erthshade ah yes, the friends whose Dialogue Egg skipped. So he basically knows nothing about them.
Thats dumb as shit, give me the car.
I understand being kinda salty about how the end fight turned out but tbh, what better way for NL to finish a game about chance than to use his God-like luck to cheese the whole fight? I thought it was an inadvertently hilarious way to end the series
nl is at his most classic when he runs blindly into something and is victorious because of sheer egg luck
Absolutely, it was brilliant.
We stan a rat king
Everyone is getting angry at NL for not following the boss's rules and i'm just sitting here wondering why he didn't switch to the Frog at 8:40.
Because what he said at 4:58 was a fucking lie.
Lady Luck getting so thoroughly dusted it's not even funny anymore.
I’ve been enjoying the additional images in the thumbnails! Just thought I’d make it known that the community does notice your effort :)
I can't believe he noticed the bonus episode
In loving memory of Rat king. May he always be remembered.
How does NL not remember how powerful rats can be since he played so much Gungeon?
When nobody believed in the egg, I was there raising my hands dragon ball style
Yeah boi sending him our power
Lady Luck is no more. There is only Lion Luck.
Why is everyone saying he skipped all the lore at the end? He read at least some of it, unlike the entire rest of the game.
I love NL, and congrats on the win, but his disrespect for lore is something I have yet to make peace with.
That's why I muted him and paused at every text bubble. Egg commentary is great... yeah, yeah, yeah, whatever.
@@transcondriver I just put it on 0.5 speed and heard very slow egg, added hilarity while I read the lore in peace
Egg rushes through a lot of games, he just wants to finish it
@@Boamere Oh yeah, I mean it's not really anything new, and I still love his content, so it's just something I have to learn to deal with. :) I do wish he'd sound a bit more apologetic about it, though, rather than like it's trying to waste his time.
@@sokirosokiro4215 Yeah i'm the same, I don't like how he treats games as a chore that he wants to get finished as soon as possible
I was cringing at him not looking at her moves. The whole point of this character and chapter is that you follow what she says
What are rules to a king
What are rules to a *rat* king
Not quite, the whole point is that you pay a cost for breaking the rules that are artificially imposed on you.
If you’re a Rat King, the cost is chump change.
The giant rat makes all of da rules
Look at this guy, always following rules.
I honestly hate it when NL decides not reading is the smart thing to do
Because it works?
RAT KING IS GOD
literally the absolute CHAD LORD play. my god, how has he done it. it's beautiful
He fought Lady Luck without checking her equipment even once, yet somehow made so many optimal switches...
13:15 "... like, this is going SO well. Audrey BOSS??!"
The timing is so good :P
Man, when he shook that shake near the start I seriously thought he had a dice cup and was going to roll for which character to play (there are six).
Admittedly, the egg won, but really, pay attention to Lady Luck's equipment.
That episode was so much fun.
Steamrolling over the lore is physically painful to me, but a great episode none the less. All hail the rat king.
The madman did it, some said it couldn't be done. But through the power of Monarchy, the Rat King and the Egg Lord triumph, and some never thought the kingdom would see the day. Well done NL, loved the series, I'll be sad to see another fun one go but it just means we get another banger to replace it.
Actually my favorite episode of the series so far. Lion luck will always triumph over dice related evil
Must complete, ive been watching from the beginning
NL: reads absolutely nothing
NL: what the fuck is going on??? what???? hello???? terry????? aaaaa/a/????? he help
thanks for the company
Backstage:
NL: Fire still isn't strong against fire enemies! Go piratechu!
When Lady Luck uses 4 6s to deal 1 damage. Rat king is crazy. The whole team is crazy. WOOO
Everyones mad NL lucked out on the win without using stratergy or reading the upcoming attacks when the final boss was actually called lady luck. he didnt keep getting away with it bois, it was the long con
I see a lotta salt in chat for an egg we all knew would never read anything correctly and had stupid dumb luck to balance it out
Egg is pretty much the embodiment of its better to be lucky than good.
LMAO Precious Egg you are the absolute best
The Rat King being the actual Rat Lord. Long live *the King!*
I thought for a moment nl had a dice shaker prop and was going to roll for who to choose for the final showdown, but he was just mixing his drink lol.
Completely here for Rat King meta. Too damn OP
Imagine having a T count as high as Rat God
The fact that Egg didn't once check LL's equipment to see what it did is the perfect encapsulation of the series. Play extremely poorly, in perhaps the most suboptimal way possible, and get carried 100% by blind luck.
The Rat King should go down in legend.
ngl NL not looking at lady luck's moves each turn kinda drove me insane
Egg not looking at LL’s moves in the final fight made me worried he wouldn’t win..
Who needs planning when you have The Rat King
Lol to be honest, at first I thought that was the Point of the lady luck fight. I thought you had to be lucky and hope the character you were on fit the parameters for only 1 damage.
Fortunately our resident egg has learned that poison stacking on high hp enemies is broken from silent ascension, even if he still doesn't quite understand how the math fully works
NL Luck > Lady Luck. True Facts. Annoying fact but true.
It took all of his Isaac rng to win this run. He did it: he freaking did it.
Confeti for NL! Gw totaly worth watching 6 years of isaac for this moment when he finaly beats the game!! Truely wonderful
When did NL decide he was too good for story? It's only made worse that he has to complain about it every fight.
He's never really liked story. I feel the same way
@@ALittleMessi I've never noticed it until this game. But maybe this is just the game where he complains the most about having to click through it.
NL seems to have made a decision to lean hard into his style and preferences. The other example I can think of is his stated refusal to edit under any circumstances. Whether this is confidence/maturity or pigheadedness is an excercise for the viewer
Its not thats hes too good for it, its just not what interests him and thats fine. He liks rng d00d, he didnt play spire and Isaac for lore did he? Why does everyone suddenly expect Ryan to be Baer.
@@MagikarpsSplash There isn't any dialog in Isaac. And he would at least let the cutscenes run the first time.
The Rat King came back from Enter The Gungeon to kick some butt!
Egg daddy is our saviour
Time to play Indivisible, Egg.
Fell asleep to NL, woke up to a fire alarm at 5 am
booo! we want lore!
Then buy the game!
NL, man you're awesome
Not really...
7:11 Ivan Drago
this is the most wholesome episode
Until you see that the comment section is full of a bunch of self entitled man babies.
ALL BOW TO THE RAT KING!
RAT KING IS A LEGEND
Holy fuck he lucked out so hard not reading her text on the first turn. Rat king could have died turn 1.
TURN 2 TOO
This man legit beat the fight without reading any of her abilities before each turn.
HE CANT KEEP GETTING AWAY WITH IT
Holy fuck, not even checking Lady Luck's equipment. I never want to hear him complain about a game being hard to understand ever again.
comment section is angry that LionLuck worked overtime to roflstomp Lady Luck first try no sweat...
and if we are being honest with ourselves, rat king is the strongest character in dicey.
he has done it
lmao looking for your own name in the credits xD
Fortune favors *THE RAT KING*
NL, you had no right winning that. Holy shit the luck that was bestowed upon you.
Must be nice XD
Rat king forever
Even if you dont play the game for the lore doesnt mean we dont the least you could do in the future is click thru it slow enough so we can pause it to read it
Agree. A little BM.
At this point he's pretty invested in the series, least he could do was humor the game...
@@SamuraiFoochs I actually dont know what BM stands for?
@@nick1615 It's a sanitized way of saying bullshit. It's the one Dan-ism I can appreciate people other than Dan using. :)
@@nick1615 think it stands for bad manners
Rat King and the venn diagram prophecies!
no rat king on the thumbnail??? smh.....
He never did win that car though :/
5:17 If he dies, he dies.
All that poor play and he still gets the win...
