In scientific terms Entropy (Randomness) of the universe keeps on increasing. A time comes when this randomness becomes very large that it is beyond anybody's ability to control . It's this time that Lord with his infinite powers intervenes and sets the things right. Varah avatar is an example.

I'm reading William Buck's 'Ramayan Retold' these days where it is mentioned that even during the time of Treta Yuga, before and after Shri Rama's birth, there was a widespread pessimism prevalent among the general public as well as rishis and saints about the moral degradation of that age where the forces of Dharma were on a decline, very much the same as what we, as general public, speak today about the Kaliyuga.

Yugas need not be defined in terms of morality or ethics etc but in terms of changes in environment, and season changes etc

There is also a theory that each yug is for 1250 years and kaliyug ended in 1974 and this is sangam yug . Each cycle will have different rype of scenes and need not be ramayan and Mahabharata . This could be the last janam for us in this cycle. The rise in population is nothing but all the souls have descended on earth and it's time for return and advent of satya yug . There seems to be lot of difference between what is believed and what is established.

Kaliyuga began the day Shri Krishna left his body. He was around 115 years of age at that time. During the Mahabharat war when he delivered the 'Gita' to Arjun, Shri Krishna was 83 years of age.
Sir, my question to Oak Sir is as per him what is period of kalyug n when will it end? Any insight? Also as per dates of Mahabharata n Ramayana can we guess the 'kalavadhi' of each yuga?

It is not understood that how the worst period of kaliyug shall be turned into best period of satyug? Logically there should be gradual fall and rise.means kaliyug to dwaper to treta to satyug, like wise satyug to treta to dwaper to kaliyug.

Pls read "The Holi Science" by Swami Sri Yukteshwara Giri for all details of Yugas & their time span. Now it is Dwapara Yug.. Kalyuga of decending cycle ended in 1699..
Not the appripriate person to discuss such sensitive issue,simply because one can't evaluate YUGAS merely by intellectual discussions...kindly ponder upon the mandatory importance of SADHNA in one's life!

I dont know why you all are talking about years in thousands. M'bharat clearly states that kaliyug is for 4.3 lac years, dwapar 8.6lac years treta 12.9lac years, and krit yug 17.2 lac years. There is sandhi period of 10% of each period in between. At the end of each yug there is unrest which leads to avatar of lord vishnu who changes the gear of time wheel. He has the potential to do. As per Yukteshwar giri we are in sandhi of dwapar yug. Kali is yet to arrive. So today we have mixture of good and bad with tilt towards bad. When we we will be at the end of kali it will be worst scenario. Height of people will be max a length of our thumb. Idle people sleeping all thtought. Cosmic wise earth will be drawn closer to sun so more gravity. That's why we have our clocks reset by few milli seconds. In earlier times people were very very tall trees too. Kaliyug end describes of 100 suns shining in sky. That means earth will be so close to sun that its intensity will be 100 times as of today. End of kaliyug very very frightening. Lord will not show mercy to anyone. Ms madhu fears are well founded Best way to avoid that catastrophe is to lead noble life now so that lord doesn't send us back here. Only sinful people will come here again and again to face the music.
