Awesome video, fellas. I once heard Gordon Ramsey say, " When there's no leadership, there's no consistency, and when there's no consistency, there are no standards. " and that stuck with me long ago.

Great debrief. Cory Brent defended one of my cases. And 110% true about my previous Dept promoting Admin Leaders over Tip of the Spear Leaders

Daryl Francis Gates, LAPD SWAT, LASD SEB, 3 percent @ 50 years old, Mike Hillman, the "administrative background" leadership, Los Angeles City Attorneys Office... Such good stuff from a well rounded guy. This stuff should be taught at field training officer/supervisor training. John has the knowledge and the wisdom without the ego of most police trainers. I'm waiting for Part 2 and wishing him more success in his business. KMA 367!!

By far, this was the best podcast on policing that I've ever heard. And I listen to just about all of them.
Very valuable information. Great job to all.

I just saw this podcast now, after doing 7 years, 3 OIS and plenty more high stress conflict calls and leaving. At 35:06 talking about leadership not wanting to promote people that have that experience, that’s exactly my experience. Although, not up for promotion but a senior officer to a shift filled with rookies, one rookie getting in an OIS 6 months out of FTO, i became “blacklisted” and was told exactly what was being said here. That I was a “rogue cop” and that I didn’t want to be supervised. However, issues that were brought up time and time again was to mitigate burnout and disgruntled ness which would lead to bigger issues in the long road. Instead I was outcasted and labeled and disgruntled burned out and rogue when the reality is it wasn’t that at all. It was no one was listening or doing the political “yeah well look into it.” Not to go into too much details, but after looking at data for some of the reasons that were brought up, the data was on point for what I was saying give or take a few wrongs but overall the data was backed. He’s 100% right when it comes to leadership. Amazing how at my department everyone with an insignia on their collar was “they were useless on the road” it absolutely astonishing how they get that far

Great video. One comment regarding dynamic entry. The real question or issue as I see it over the years is, how many teams are actually capable of a legit dynamic entry? The time it takes to train for, the reps, contingencies, etc the majority of teams are in no way capable or qualified to execute .
Case in point, the kern case referenced was a regional team I believe but at minimum they were part time.

Aardvark! Awesome. I'm from South Africa, where they live 😅
Great episode. Y'all are getting better at interviewing! Keep it up.
    My fav podcast, tbh!
    Suggestion for an interview:
Derrick Levasseur. He runs a true crime podcast with someone. He's an ex-cop, detective and now private detective.
Not sure if an interview with him will suit the mood of your show specifically, but heck, have a look. Doesn't hurt. They've got a big following on True Crime Weekly, maybe they'll give you a shoutout.
Even though they're popular I've not been able to find a police related interview with him.
If you do look into it, I think what he can bring to your audience is advice for aspiring detectives.
    Anyway. Loving the content.
Missing Billy. Do another movie night! 😊

The Breonna Taylor case was a giant embarrassing failure for police.
Total sh*t show and no drugs / money found, and the resident was killed.
Just another police failure that earns the hate and erodes public trust

    • @kimmiewise1044
      @kimmiewise1044 Před 7 měsíci +3

Actually there was drugs found in the other two houses listed on the warrent and jail phone records gave evidence that Breonna's residence was used for drug trafficking and holding money, it was just bad timing that the money had already exchanged hads right before the raid, her dealer Ex confessed that he did use her house for drugs. This is why all of the officers were exonerated with only one being chrage for endangering the safety of the other residents while excuting the warrant legally.
Also, coming from a native Kentuckian, Louisville is full of drug mules like her. Its not that surprising that she got killed in her own web. But the only people who were mad about Taylor were the typical anti-cop anti-white crowd who would blame a bag of flour for her death not matter how obvious her guilt is...
