If u want to get experience at your age, find a local department with a explorer program and join it. As an explorer I was able to do ride alongs, learn the codes, fill out paperwork, and get to know a lot more abt how it is being a cop. It’s like JROTC but for police. Highly recommend it.

      Don’t do it.
You will be undertrained by your department, you will be trained to treat people as guilty before innocent.
      You also will be underpaid.

I always enjoy your podcast. Thank you for doing this program. This guy is doing a good deed training law enforcement. When I was a deputy we had very little training. We were required to qualify once a year. If we wanted anymore training we had to seek it out ourselves. I was one of those people who could never get enough training or practice. As you know most officers don’t care about the gun. Most guys I worked with would rather have a computer than a gun. These people trained very little and could barely qualify. These people were not gun guys. Me I could never get enough training. I’m a gun nut. I loved being competitive and shot the 3 gun and precision rifle series. I’m disabled now. Thank you sir for everything you do for the law enforcement community.

Graat show but uvalde was a bad example. Those cops did make a decision. They decided to stand by while children were being slaughtered ( remember the video of them in the hallway casually chatting and applying hand sanitizer) and then they went a step further and attacked parents who were willing to do what the officers werent, save the children.

I’d be interested to see y’all do a review on this one and talk about complacency on the job, which is what I believe is the main reason Officers are hurt or unfortunately killed czcams.com/video/aWKlICQc6S8/video.html. I’m currently only in the early stages of becoming an Officer and even I see how much of a tactical disaster this was and how lucky everyone including the first cop is to be alive.
Side note: the guy on the couch is the most chill dude I’ve ever seen with front row seats to a gun fight 😂

Militarization of the police is a very bad problem, ESPECIALLY if they aren’t going to be a trained even up to a standardized minimum. Requirements and minimum training are different depending even on the city you’re in. National standardized training requirements should be policy first of all. Second, you need to train cops in STRESS MANAGEMENT and deescalation. So many times i see the police ramping up the stress and threat of a situation because they themselves cannot stay calm and collected and they make bad decisions. Especially the last 6 months, there have been a bunch of situations where the officers use horribly dangerous tactics and almost kill their own officers. Other times, they don’t need to kill anyone at all but you’ll have 5-10-15 officers all firing on a single unarmed guy. If 5-10 cops can’t arrest an unarmed person without shooting them, there’s a big problem. All of this stuff stems from militarization. We want to arm these guys to the teeth and teach them combatives and door kicking and house clearing, but there’s less training required than standard army bootcamp to become a cop at this point. it’s VERY hard to keep supporting the police when they themselves don’t seem to even care about their own image or public standing. Half the police department in my town is comprised of middle age fat guys, and the other half are baby faced 20 year olds. There’s one guy that legitimately looks like a middle schooler. it’s PATHETIC. I don’t trust a single one of them to help me if I need it. Id rather take my chances dealing with a problem myself than call these idiots. A few months ago a 90 YEAR OLD couple was dragged from their vehicle by 7 or 8 cops and had to go to the hospital because the cops had a report of that car stolen in my town. The thing is, the report was months old and they had gotten the car back and told the police, but the police never bothered to update the file saying they got their car back. So they got attacked by the police because of the departments incompetence. It’s just more and more common seeing bad policing and bad training. Why are we continually funding police to equip themselves like a small military if they aren’t going to be qualified at all to be in that position?
