  • Hello friends! Back today with another diet review! In this video, I’ll be reviewing the popular (and much requested!) 2B Mindset diet plan from Beach Body created be Nutrition Babe Ilana Muhulstein. In this video, I’ll go over what 2B mindset is , how it works, and if it is actually something you should look into doing… or if you should run for the hills.

    I did 2B mindset and lost 50lb on the program. It might not work for everyone but it works for those who has a slow metabolism and had tried many different 'diets'. She's talking about cauliflower rice as a substitute and not about eating all 10 cups of it.

      She is talking like the clients of 2B are people who could "just have a muffin,.. or a donut" for breakfast. I am very surprised by this video and that she doesn't get it. "Sometimes you just want mac and cheese" - uh duh lol

    I subbed to beachbody with a coach a month ago, mostly because I just wanted workouts given to me. I started on the 2b mindset but I was never full or binging on everything I said no to. I was intuitively eating before and after this video, I'm going back!!

    She doesn't say eat an entire head of cauliflower. She says to keep a head of cauliflower on hand because one head on hand can become a quick and healthier swap for convenience food you typically reach for like cauliflower rice, or a substitute for chips and dip.
    The tips you give sound like advice for toddlers or adults who truly need to grow up. You can't always reach goals based on what's not going to hurt your feelings.

    Your review seems to be very uneducated and bias from the very start. You mocked the creator from the very beginning setting a tone that is incredibly undesirable. I am very familiar with 2B mindset and how the program works and the way in which you presented this is inaccurate and you have "stretched" it to meet your truth vs. the actual way in which she teaches food and healthy relationships. I am all for listening to different perspectives when they are done in a respectful manner and when a perspective is not manipulated as you have done here. Many of your statements are incredibly inaccurate and exactly opposite of what the program teaches. I'm very disappointed in your review and to how you portrayed this as there are many who could benefit from her food philosophy that may now be turned away from the very start due to your sarcastic and snarky review.

      I completely agree with you. She starts out immediately with an attitude and actually begins by trying to find a "negative" in drinking water first. So many could benefit in learning what is truly dehydration or hunger which is why you should drink water first. Just an all around hateful review for no reason.

      I’m supposed to start in Monday. I watched the 2B video on the food plan and see nothing wrong with it. It’s real food and all food groups. I won’t watch this because I don’t need the negativity. Ty for the comment.

    Disappointed by this inaccurate representation of the 2B mindset. If you're reading this, Ilana and Beach Body's program attempts to create a balanced and sustainable program for weight loss that includes celebrating healthy foods, cognitive behavioural therapy for an improved mindset, and healing our relationship with food. I don't consider it a diet, because the point of the program is to create a sustainable way to lose weight and build healthy habits. It's not a short term solution - she says this time and time again.

    Just found you. This is all clicking some for me which is really amazing. I never believed anyone could be at a healthy weight eating “enough” carbs and many many other things that I never trusted but now I’m kind of seeing it differently. And maybe the reason I can’t stop eating at night is because I don’t eat enough all day! Thanks!!

    Curious if you ever think there is a time to intentionally lose weight? Example keeping fairly consistent weight through 25-37. Gaining some weight over quarantine. Now working to get back down to set point through behaviors like water, veggies, protein, and movement but not in overly restrictive way.

    After 4 years doing beachbody i cannot anymore. i prefer to just eat healthy and exercise on my terms i dont do food rules.. the daily weight checks is unhealthy for me. i like the 80/20 rule i dont like food rules. anything to tell me to eliminate carbs at dinner is not for me. containers was way better for me. that said i cant stick to 2b mindset way too many rules for me

    Can you make a video about what to eat during PMS? The week before my period nothing satisfies me and I end up binging and I have been really good about not binging for a while. Any foods good for PMS?

    I like how you did this review. It was way less defensive and talking down about what your reviewing then some other reviews you have. I also like how much education you packed in this review!

      Just know, this review was actually a gross misrepresentation of the 2B Mindset. Just to start, 2B Mindset was NOT created by Beachbody. It was created by Ilana Muhlstein independent from Beachbody over many years of studying peoples habits and foods. It was later picked-up by Beachbody. Those are two VERY different thing.
      The overwhelming theme of 2B Mindset, is understanding what foods, do what to you. She also DOES NOT tell you to drop the real thing. She tells you to understand what the two things do to your body, and to ask you self is it worth it. May it is, or maybe it isn't. but she is VERY clear, "That is for you to decide." It's all about collecting data and you saying, "this is actually worth the extra pound, but that is not." That is what the tracking weight and food is about...educating yourself.
      There are many other thing that are misrepresented in this video, but there are a few to get you started.

    No carb at dinner was BRUTAL for my 450am workouts!
    So many great recipes to try and taste amazing.
    I love your wording about "is it healthy" 🥰 I matter my thoughts matter my intentions matter. I matter.
    It's so hard to listen to my body, remember gental nutrition, and figure out if I am hungry or bored or why my body is saying what it is. All at once It's so over whelping and I feel like I always fail at it.

    There's nothing wrong with the real deal. Even if someone is trying to lose weight. I can't stand diets that tell me to cut out food groups. I should be eating more vegetables though, I hardly eat any and I'm mostly vegetarian 😭.

      I understand where you're coming from. I've been trying to include more vegetables. The frozen vegetables that you microwave are pretty convenient and a good place to start I think. They pack them at the peak of ripeness and nutrition. They also have ones with sauces and stuff and flavorings that look pretty good. I want to eat as much organic as I can. However, just eating vegetables and having them taste good is probably the best focus because it's not all or nothing you know.

      Well, apparently you don't actually know the 2B Mindset. She does not tell you to "cut out the real deal". That is NOT 2B and Colleen has grossly misrepresented the program.

      What a shame... This misrepresentation of the 2bmindset system is one of the most dangerous. Ilana actually tells us NOT to eliminate things. She teaches that this actually causes those with dysfunctional relationships with food to binge more. Her entire teaching on this particular subject is to just be more Mindful and conscientious of why we are eating it.

    This is the first video of yours I’ve watched. It was ok, but I felt like you only had negative things to say. Your thumbnail saying “hard pass” is unfortunate to me. I was unfamiliar with 2b mindset, but even after hearing your explanation it doesn’t sound so bad. If someone is coming from a place of eating unhealthy, fast food, soda non stop etc, the first two principles seem like a great mindset to start with. Of course like with anything there is nuance, so I wish you had pointed that out a little more rather than tearing down the program. I’m sure it’s like most things in life where you have to start somewhere, and then graduate to different and higher understandings. Once you’re drinking enough water and eating veggies everyday, then you can learn to listen to your body. I know ALOT of people including myself, who if they “listened to their body” would just eat junk. Nutrition is a language I’m learning and my body speaks it. Until there is a better understanding there, intuitive eating doesn’t work because I don’t understand what my body is asking for. I am trying to learn more about intuitive eating, but the little I’ve learned seems too optimistic for someone so overweight like myself. Some people need simple principles like water first and veggies most to help them get started. I do think programs like this then get too far entrenched and unhealthy when there is never the graduation process to the next step of understanding.
    All in all, I really liked a lot of what you had to say and I’ll give some of your other videos a try, but what will keep me coming back is if you give a little more credit to the other side. I can even see how you think you did give them some credit, but I could tell from the get go that you just wanted to disagree with them.
    I would’ve loved if for the veggie point for example you said “extremes never work in the long run, so this is a good principle but make sure you don’t overdo it. It’s always a good idea to get more veggies in, and maybe a good idea to eat them first, but here is where I’d take it one step further or tweak it…(insert your thoughts)”

    I love your channel and your videos so much. I have been gloating for years and trying all kinds of restrictive things to do knowing deep down that it was not the right thing for me. So I’m still dealing with bloating and IBS and not getting to the root cause but I think that it is definitely stress. I’m going to try my best to incorporate gentle nutrition like I always do anyways but not restrict anything for the next 30 days and see what happens with my bloating. I’m tired of spending thousands of dollars on diets and doctors and no one can get to the root cause of my bloating. Granted I am post menopausal and I know that has a lot to do with it I do yoga I work out I walk 2 miles a day and yet I still seem to bloat after each meal if you have any thoughts from anyone here I would love to hear them.

    Can you please review Noom? They are hard core with their ads and apparent success. I tried them and stopped because it was unrealistic changes for me. They also do daily weight checks.

    I hold the belief that people most of the time do not need to eat beyond their capacity. It does not feel good. It doesn't do anything positive for your relationship with food. In moderation, indulging isn't a bad thing because all good things in life are measured. You enjoy it more because its not an everyday occurrence. Stigmas around good and bad foods arent helpful either because we tend to feel guilt or shame.
    Overall, our food industry has many flaws and these diet philosophies can be misleading and misinforming because everyone is different and requires different strategies for wellness. Chery pick tips that work for you and ignore the ones that you know you wont benefit from.

    People get so defensive about their diets. LOL. The stuff people in the comments are accusing Colleen of shows that they didn't pay attention to this video and just came in ready to get defensive.
    Also, MLMs are creepy... I've gotten semi sucked into a few over the years.

    I don’t agree with your review of 2B Mindset because it helped me learn to it healthier. For someone who has issues with saying no to certain foods it is a great plan that puts you on track to making healthy choices you can feel good about and your digestive system will thank you for. Prior to having gastric sleeve surgery this is the plan I was following and when I showed my surgeon what I had been eating over the last year with everything logged in my books he said I was doing all of the right things. I had come to a complete stand still for an extended period of time and that was why I chose to have surgery. Come to find out there was a medical reason behind me not losing weight that only surgery could resolve. So to limit what works for one may not work for others is not my cup of ☕️. I am a believer that you do have to find what works for you. Intuitive eating may work well for someone who hasn’t had an issue with obesity but it didn’t work for me. I 👏need 👏structure👏. The negative connotation in this video was not to my liking and I had hoped for better but again you’re entitled to your opinion I just think you were trying to sway more people to “your” way and not what works for them. Also, for the record, Bodi teaches about health esteem and the importance of it. If you were considering doing 2B mindset before watching this video go for it! What’s the worst that can happen? 🤷‍♀️

    I completely disagree with your assessment on the "water first" concept. I believe she says water first so that you don't confuse dehydration with hunger...which we all are guilty of doing! How could you possibly disagree with that? You are going out of your way to find something negative to say about her approach and it makes you look like either you are a huge hater or that your program is some off the charts, wayyyy too complicated approach to basic healthy eating habits. In my opinion....
